I came across this place on yelp. What really caught my attention was the decor. I don't visit the city often so I thought it was be a cool place to visit. I was definitely not disappointed! This is a very welcoming and professional establishment. I went on a very busy day & the vibes were definitely positive from the moment I walked in. They had many menus (which were pretty fancy looking) to view while customers stood in line which was a plus. The menu was definitely a good size & they had great deals. I went on a holiday so some items were on sale, but even non-sale items were well priced.I will definitely go back the next time I happen to be in SF. Thank you for making my experience a good one. :)
NO RETURNS ACCEPTEDI've purchased a few things from here and usually my experience was pretty good. However after today's experience I wont be coming back in.I recently purchased two packs of gummies. One CBD for anxiety and one higher content THC that was recommended to me by one of the workers. I was hesitant because Ive had some bad effects from thc in the past but he and another worker mentioned that I could use the CBD gummies to come down if the THC was to strong. Since they didnt have a good oil selection, gummies seemed like the next best thing. An hour later I popped one of the CBD gummies and proceeded to have what felt like an allergic reaction. I felt painful tingling up and down my body. It felt like I was being electrocuted. It lasted for hours and needless to say wasn't fun.Realizing that if that was what the CBD gummies were like I had no trust in the higher THC ones I went to return them today where I was told that they have a no return policy. Mind you I didn't try and return the opened pack I tried to return the still sealed pack. The only solution provided to me was to give me a 20% discount off something else. NO cash return just a credit to my account. When the girl could tell I was getting agitated she raised the discount to 50%.OK let me get this straight. I bring in an UNOPENED item with the receipt, tell you I had a bad reaction to a similar product from the same brand and instead of getting my money back you expect me to SPEND MORE AT YOUR STORE. You're joking right? Guess what Apothecarium thats not how transactions work. If you have a no return policy then somebody should've mentioned that to me before I spent the money. The only reason I'm giving one star is the guy who helped me was very kind. Otherwise this place would get a 0.I'll be telling my friends about this place and referring them elsewhere.
Saw this on their website under the page titled PHILANTHROPY:"At The Apothecarium, we take our commitment to community seriously."This means a lot to me! So when I was told they do not carry any product by a SOCIAL EQUITY GROUP I was heart broken!!We all know actions speak louder than words. If you really want to portray this business as one that cares about the community, rather than putting the energy into a response to make this company look good, take your commitment seriously and please support your community; that includes social equity brands.
Been a long time customer of this location. Placed a small order today for 4/20. When the order was delivered. They completely went above and beyond to show their appreciation. The best "goodie" bag I've ever received. Need more companies and people like this. WAS having a rough day. This definitely made it better. Thank you so much again! Person I spoke to on the phone was very pleasant to speak as well!
Ordered online. The process was easy and my order was ready within 10 minutes. When I arrived I was immediately attended. Confirmed my ID and form of payment and off I went w/ my order. The inside was so clean and overall aesthetic is luxurious. Highly recommend ordering online if you don't want to wait in line.
Delivery does not include tax. Since its cash only, its frustrating to run to the ATM for extra cash as they do not incorporate it until they send you a message that the delivery is ready. Poor delivery experience.
Very nice and helpful staff. This place looks super high end, not like a typical weed dispensary. This place is really clean and professional, and the staff was really helpful and knowledgeable. I'm a totally pot novice and the gentleman who helped me was really patient pointed me in the right direction. The products I got were exactly what I needed! I got a THC salve that has been a lifesaver for my achy joints and a flower that really helps me sleep. I'll definitely be coming back.
The weed was fine, and I think I ended up getting $5 off for being a first time customer which is great. But when i asked for a $30 3.5g flower, and a $40 1g cartridge, I wasn't expecting to pay over $90 after taxes not included in price. Every weed shop I've been to in OR, NV, and the many in WA since legalization in 2013 INCLUDES TAX in the pricing. Nice guys but management needs to adjust posed prices.
Try and upswell you THE WHOLE TIME .. charging $80 for an eighth l... honestly save your money these people are catering to the tourist crowd... locals just stick to Weedmaps or Eureka Sky up the road a little bit
The best dispensary in San Francisco seriously. Every time the best people everyone is smiling ( well of course they smile ) haha. But more important good stuff. I don't smoke a lot but in the end of the week I give myself time to cill. Best of luck.
It was my first time here and the staff are very friendly. Lydia helped me when I went. She was amazing at explaining everything to me since I don't smoke often. I asked a lot of questions and she was very patient and knowledgeable. Very glad to have chosen to visit this dispensary. I'd definitely come again when I run out.
I love this location! Everyone is so friendlyBut I have to give my favorite attendant a shout out , Alexxi is AMAZING! bubbly , knowledgeable , helpful and just such a friendly presence at the Apothecarium . Of course the meds are top quality and the selection is always massive, but I come in for the warm neighborhood atmosphere . Thanks Apothecarium and Alexxi for always making my visits memorable .
Love the decor and waiting area for medicinal users The staff is friendly I left my old Cannibis store for this one Awesome people Allen is the best !Yazzie is so adorable and the sweetest person when waiting on me !!!
I have supported this company since they opened. I am now at senior citizen who cannot stand in the rain for an order NOR have $80 in cash without WALKING IN THE RAIN TO A ATM! I am disappointed to the way we as Seniors, Handicaps, etc are treated during the storms.
To commemorate the legal use of RECREATIONAL MJ in CA, I was here! On this special day, the Apothecarium first opened their doors for the life-event. It was glorious! Except for all the news cameras all over the place that day. I didn't need them all up in my business. As expected, I knew I would be in line for a long time; I think everyone knew that; but most of us were in good spirits and making new friends as we engaged in friendly conversations with one another. It helped time go by pleasantly. When I finally made it inside, I found the place to be chic and modern. In other words, BOURGIE. But they know good music with all my 80s jams they were playing! Making it passed the doors was the half way point with about another hour ahead of me, but all was good as were the vibes.Dispensaries are new to me as they are a little ahead of my time. Back in my day I knew of rolling blunts and hitting bongs and pipes. Pens and oils as another method are pretty cool; I'm learning these things from my friends of younger generations (No, I am not that old. Just ignorant. ) To frequent this establishment in the future is still unclear. However, I trust this is an excellent place to buy from; It feels safe. My sincerest apologies to the medical users, many seem to feel their home is being taken away from them now that the doors are opened to recreational users. I think you all deserve priority over everyone else. The staff here are a delight to deal with and they helped me to make the right purchases. Maybe when I obtain my medical marijuana card, I will come back. Just don't tell my mom.
I really like this place when I want to take a friend visiting from out of town to a dispensary. The apothecarium has a very classy sort of boutique vibe to it. Mostly importantly they have a huge menu with tons of great products. Also I believe they breed the strain pineapple tonic, a high cbd strain, which is one of my favorites.
Came here for a weekend getaway and found this place. Staff is very friendly. Place is very fancy looking inside. Beautifully designed and decorated. You sign in and have a seat and wait for a staff members to call you to assist. You then go to the counter and pick what you want. They have this cool menu of all the types of products they have. Great experience. Would come back next time in town.
Such a classy spot! I'm not much of a connoisseur of marijuana, but when it's legal and a few steps from where you're staying ... it seems a shame not to visit.Lots of reviews said that the service was very slow, but that wasn't my experience. I waited less than 10 minutes to meet with my personal consultant. When I shared my inexperience with the product and described my goals, she immediately routed me to the products that made the most sense. There was no attempt to upsell or otherwise misdirect me, and that was a nice feeling!Since I'm not a local, I won't be back any time soon - but the next time I'm in San Francisco, this will be my dispensary of choice!
If you enjoy high prices, l long lines iand really slow service this is the place for you!
Clean, informative, educational, friendly. I use the apothecary strictly for my insomnia and the employees across the board have known exactly what I need. Plus the one employee whose name is Matt is cute as a button but I digress. They have a wide selection and very educated informative staff. Prices are reasonable
DON'T GO!!! Reminded me of a cross between a college Spring Break trip and a TGIFridays! The "budtender" didn't know what she was doing & was rude. She didn't want to talk about options or alternatives. She opened a big menu and stuck it in front of me. I tried to ask her some questions since I've been making & using edibles for about 10 years, but she was flustered and started talking about California state law. I'm a lawyer...doubt she is. The selection AND service are well below average. The have almost nothing but smoke. It looks nice & fancy, but it's superficial.
Gone down hill since marijuana became legal across California. More about making money now then customers experience. When I first started going to the Apothecarium in Castro it was amazing. Sad to see the decline.P.S. you need to have EXACT change for delivery. They won't even break a $20, so you end up over tipping if you don't have exact change. Other places in the city offer debit and credit for delivery. Taking my business there.
I've been here a few times. The staff and setting are great. Products are generally extensive. The lines move at a fairly reasonable pace. Downside: I can't get to the menu online without signing up. I get it if I needed to order and have it ready for pick up or delivery. But I really just wanted to see if a particular product was there before going in traffic to pick it up. Apothecarium - Could you please make your menu directly available without signing in?
Been once. Check in was awkward: Present ID- stand inline. Check in again. Present ID again. sign release, opt-in or out of membership. Sit down- wait to be called. Review printed catalogue- and then get called by budtender. Not efficient but more so than some dispensaries. (In terms of comfort, place deserves min 4 stars). Check in was off putting. Person at second check in was borderline rude and uptight (micro dosing is a thing! Chill the f*k out!). Couldn't answer basic privacy questions "it's on the website site" (scowl). The goods- pretty okay. I'm a touch and see person- the set up here is all behind the counter. BT seemed knowledgeable but contradicted himself on different strains.
Had an absolutely fantastic experience here!I was in town from New York and solo exploring - was at the Golden Gate Bridge, knew I wanted to head to the Castro/Mission Dolores Park, so I yelped a dispensary in the area and found these guys. The place was clean, well decorated and the people were so nice. Being from NYC/NJ this was my first experience in a legal dispensary. The employees were so nice, and explained everything thoroughly!
I know nothing is the same with COVID, but I was super disappointed with my last experience at Apoth. And by that I think it will be my last. I've been a VERY good customer for years and the place it so sterile and un fun now. I get that they can't have the same events and fun atmosphere but you can at least pretend you are smiling under that mask or at the very least that you don't hate your job. The woman who rang me up was so bland and void of any life I seriously could've had a better experience at my annual OBGYN appt. You can buy the same stuff elsewhere, probably cheaper with more selection so you could at least give customers a better experience. Especially when we all have few human interactions these days- make them count!
These people run a classy joint, pun intended. From the doorman to the check in to the salespeople, everyone is super friendly and attentive. The decor is light, airy and upscale. Minus a star for the slightly high prices, definitely for people with money to burn. The big plus to me: it's one of the few clubs that accepts credit cards. There's an over 60 senior discount of 10%, and they frequently have promotions. I received a 20% off card for my next purchase for attending an educational event the Apothecarium sponsored at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. A good test of any business is how they handle a problem. I missed out on my senior discount recently, and when I emailed their contact it was handled quickly efficiently and kind of even over-compensated.I've been an occasional customer for several years and I will keep coming back.
The world's swankiest head shop? I dunno, but it's nice inside. And I got some unguent they recommended for my janked up knee that was pricey ($25) but not nearly as costly as not being able to walk.2 weeks later and I'm walking normally for the first time in 3 months. I'm a huge fan.
First time stepping into this experience. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They gave alot of info on product and broke down the affects. It was a smooth transition
Gorgeous , luxurious dispensary.. Presents as a plush, well designed hotel lobby. Short wait. You are presented with a menu when you reach the point of purchase. They carry high end brands and accessories. Can't imagine a nicer dispensary...
Menu sucks. Weed sucks. Prices suck. The people that work there act like they are pompous rich people. Everything smells like hay all the people who gave it 4-5 stars are idiots who can't tell quality from garbage. Avoid this place at all costs. California cannabis is a scam.
Super coolPlace the staff is knowledgeable but they need to work with there online order service it can be difficult to maneuver at times
Writing this review as an effort to improve their service. I always come, spend time in the long line of hipsters-stoners and then when it's my turn they tell me they ran out of stuff I wanted to buy(they knew it long ago) Happened multiple times. If you run out of stuff I want to buy, please come up with a way to announce it, so I don't have to waste my time. Once I find this problem is solved, I'll delete this review.Like in the restaurants they have "sold out" on the menus or something creative. Thanks!
It's a major bummer I have to write a 3-star review for The Apothecarium but they, and you good folks, need to know how much they've slipped. When I first came here two years ago I was blown away. So clean. So friendly. So fast. Like an Apple store for cannabis but without the attitude and wait times. Now, they don't stock any of the products I used to buy and the lines are stupid. I feel like legalization has hurt this place way more than it helped as it is now tourist destination, not a place to get medicine, and it shows. They still get stars for being so well kempt but I won't be buying here anymore.
I bought a grinder and unfortunately I there was a crack in the wood. I checked with them on their online chat and since they're made out of wood, some of them have cracks and some don't. Because of the change of business, I understandably didn't really get to inspect the grinder beforehand, and didn't want to cause too much of a hassle, but they made sure that if I wanted a different grinder I was more than welcome to come in and get a replacement. Everyone at the Apothecarium was really understanding and made the exchange easy and seamless.
It's honestly difficult to write a one-star review here. The place is nice, upscale, and the staff are all amazingly helpful and friendly. However, my first visit in I paid with my debit card, which the clerk claimed responded with a "server error", so I switched and used a credit card. Upon reviewing my bank statements both charges had processed and cleared. When I emailed them about the double charge, I was responded to within an hour by Ely, who asked that I send a screenshot of the transactions, and to wait through the weekend to make sure they cleared. I complied, and waited...they did in fact charge me twice. I replied to Ely with the same confirmation after a few days. Now I have emailed yet again, and no one is responding. It's unfortunate that they are losing a client now over less than $100, but it is more unfortunate that they aren't even giving me the courtesy of a reply.Looks like I'll have to take this up with my bank and file a chargeback to get my funds back, which is a shame and speaks volumes about the actual customer service that they offer. Buyer beware, and certainly be careful using any plastic when you go here...because they clearly don't care once they have your money in hand.
The Apothecarium was my favorite dispensary, but I've placed my last order with them because they now require payment in cash (and with exact change!) for delivery orders. They're using BlackbirdGo to handle their online orders now and this seems to be Blackbird's rule. Cash only (with no option to receive change from the driver) is a huge pain for me. Partly because I place larger orders (usually more than $500) and who keeps that much cash around? Also, I'm disabled, with an arthritis condition that makes it very difficult and painful for me to leave and return to my third-floor walkup. If I have to go out to get cash to pay for a delivery, that negates my need of a delivery service, doesn't it? I'm stuck making a trip either way, whether to the bank for cash or to a dispensary that accepts credit cards. I guess now that recreational pot is here, Apothecarium doesn't give a shit about its medical patients any more.
So much of their menu is "Out of Stock". Green Cross and Re-Leaf, though not as "glamorous", have much better selections. Do not be fooled by The Apothecarium's crystal chandeliers! This place is a RIP OFF! Bumbling, uninformed staff. My how the "mighty" have FALLEN!NEVER AGAIN!
I used to hold this place as the gold standard dispensary compared to others. Over the last several months the customer service has gone down hill. The wait times are crazy even when there are only a handful of customers in. 8 employees yapping in a circle while we're out here watching, silently cursing and trying mind control to get them to call a name out. My biggest complaint is the website. It takes 4 clicks to get to the menu (hire a UX designer?) The menu now doesn't show any details on the flowers, even basic stuff like the thc percentage. You sometimes can select the amount you would like to buy and other times your stuck with only one option, like only an eighth. It's a pain in the ass to even have something ready for pickup. Sure, they say they are working on the website but three months later it's in a worst state then before. And the prices are on the high side. Not very competitive. Loved you guys but sadly I will be moving on to another dispensary.AND they pay/give a discount if you can show you gave a positive review. Not cool. This explains the high star yelp ratings. Kiss my discount goodbye
Excellent service and excellent product. I had a very short, but comfortable wait after arriving at the apothecarium. I explained what I was looking for as I was shown an extensive menu and immediately show exactly what I was looking for. I was in and out before I knew it and very happy with the friendly service as well as my purchase.
Awesome! A little higher on prices but you can find good ones. Products are great and service is even better. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful, feels vip
This place is fanncyyy. I came here for my first legal weed experience. There was a small wait to be seen by a weed professional but it wasn't too long. Casey helped us and was incredibly helpful. It seemed as if there was a different product for every scenario and query. She said all the right things. She honestly could have sold me more. I was very comfortable in her hands, her customer service is impeccable, I got everything I needed and since using the products I bought I'm very happy! 10/10 I'll be back!
The fanciest dispensary I've visited in my 2 months living in Oakland, but the price is still pretty solid. They have good variety and a helpful menu that shows traits of each strain in a horizontal bar graph (like video game stats). Better edibles and cartridge variety than most as well. This location has some solid glass pieces made by GRAB labs and other quality stuff for vaping.
I loved this place. The staff was incredible. Now the medicine isn't what it used to be. It isn't about the price...it's as if the meds have been dumbed down. Meds I used to take although say it's 10 mg, I now have to eat 3 gummies just to feel slightly better. So are there really 10 mg in each? Last year if I ate 3 pieces, I probably be asleep for awhile. Thank you to everyone who voted for this, you ruined my meds.
As a medical member for over 3 years, I'm gobsmacked by the enormous price hikes that have accompanied the vast broadening of Apothecarium's customer base. I'm sure they're raking in the $$$ hand over fist, but I can't afford them anymore. Thank goodness my neighborhood shop began selling for recreational use without a huge price hike. They also have a more diverse clientele, natch.Reading through other reviews from longtime medical clients, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed the prices increased beyond the tax mark-up. Why not just be honest about it?
Love it here! The staff is so friendly and helpful, and they have a wide variety of products. Best dispensary I've been to in the city.
The customer service here is impeccable. These guys always offer a daily discount or some sort of freebie.
**Let me put the disclaimer that I wasn't a patron of this dispenary, but I was able to see the interior enough to see what it looks like on the inside while my mom's husband filled his RX**Since I live in Texas, I really didn't have an idea of what a dispensary look like, but this one reminded me of an upscale pottery barn. Nice furnishings, a mini Art Gallery in the back. Perfect textured wall paper. Ultra trendy! They sell t shirts, hoodies and other items with their name on it. And there are menus you can browse through while sitting in their buttery soft leather chairs. I feel like if it didn't know this was a dispensary, it will be awsome just to chiil there and enjoy a cup of coffee :)
Wow, go someplace else for your stuff as there are multiple issues with this place:1. Business model - Obviously these folks decided to go for the high end crowd. Just stepping inside I thought to myself " How much overhead do is baked into the product price?" Fancy decor, real estate, lots of square footage, fancy menu's and printing, high end paraphenelia, all of which you are paying (extra) for. 2. Service - Apothecarium insists that you put your name on a list and then have a seat until they call you. Even if you know what you want and just want to walk in and walk out. If you hit a busy time, plan on spending upwards of a half an hour chilling in their high end lobby. Oh, and they skipped my name on the list, so I had to wait an extra 10 minutes. Oh, and the counter folks were snooty and not very knowledgeable. 3. Supply - I'm from WA and have been going to legal marijuana shops for years. Apothecarium's selection was mediocre at best, being short on both on strains and weights, and very short on indica's. Also, I think they only had one pure, traditional strain, all others being hybrids. Finally, % total cannabinoids were low for the price point, charging the same $$/weight for 14% to 20% for what you can get in WA for 24%, a 20% to 30% difference in the long run. Menus were printed on heavy card stock and in color, so not conducive to being changed frequently. I guess they are not planning on changing the selections very often. 4. Labeling and bagging - Unsealed bag (so no nitrogen or argon preservative, you'd better be smoking it this week) just says the name of the strain - no weight, % THC A, THC, CBD-A, CBD or total cannabinoid %'s, no harvest date, no indication whether it is organic or not. Maybe it's not too stale, maybe they didn't short you on the weight, maybe it's the strain it says, but who knows? Save your time and go where you get the best deal for the money, like you would do for good liquor. This place is for tourists, and almost surely a rip off.
The Neiman Marcus of Cannabis. The Mother Ship. The Alpha Male of Dispensaries. Setting the bar for Dispensaries everywhere. Why shop anywhere else?
The Neiman Marcus of clubs! Over the top high end finishes and the service is polite, friendly and professional. They have a great menu and are happy to help you through it. You will pay more, but the product is first rate and always fresh. Just opened a new location on Scott/Lombard.
This location is fantastic. Has a luxurious feeling to it and makes you feel comfortable buying from them. They have that chemical fantasy vibe that works well with a name like Apothecarium. The staff is very friendly and can guide you to what they typically recommend clients get. The price is very reasonable and overall will have you feel like you made a great purchase. Enjoy!!
This is really a new experience in a city like SF. The interior is high quality and modern. They have all these cannabis products. My friend had me try some edible and I decided to check out Apothecary. I looked at their menu full of things to get. I got a gummy pack and a cookie. It was like $20 and I had $5 off first order. I just wanted to see this store and see what they offered. This supply could last 3-6 months. It's really not healthy or advisable to be into cannabis, but well, it got a hold of me. This is the type of place you should check out anyway. Instead of low-class dispensaries. At least, it's classy and normal people use it. What else do you expect from SF? Once again, I don't advise this habit. Oh well.
Really beautiful space, but what was more impressive was the people working there.Casey or KC - not sure how to spell her name - was so incredibly knowledgable and kind! My friend and I went in not knowing much about the product, and Casey was a very patient and informative - and fun! - ambassador to the legal marijuana scene :)Such a fun and interesting experience - highly recommend venturing this way!!!!
this is the place!!! ..they are the true professional when comes to need and well being. The place is beautiful no clean. If you're ever in the area and need ..stop by...I can guarantee that you will be a very happy person!!! Next time I'm in town...I know where to go!!!Thank you Apothecarium !!
This dispensary has unparalleled professionalism, is not only very welcoming but impeccably clean. I wish all medicine purchases could be of this caliber. The waiting area is very comfortable with plenty of comprehensive menus offering the widest variety of medicines. The wait is never long, because they are well staffed, with the exception of a Friday evening obviously. The staff is very knowledgeable and have always pointed me in the right direction.
The store itself is clean, they have tons of products (which may be overwhelmed when you walk in first) and it's sprinkled with groovy vibes. Friendly staff, go above and beyond, Sofia, the girl who helps me - is da best!! Very knowledgeable, and happy to teach me the ropes :) The selection was huge and Sofia answered all my questions about each of the products I was interested in.I definitely recommend this place!
Beautiful space and visually appealing concept except that products are behind the counter and there's an actual menu in the form of a book/binder/magazine with pricing at the countertop. It's not like there are photos of products or displays other than The Apothecarium logo t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags and accessories to smoke out of--not what I'm looking for. NOW I feel like I'm at a pharmacy counter waiting for a prescription to be dispensed, not knowing what's being prescribed looks like. Maybe this place works for experienced users who know what they want and are familiar with what the dispensary carries.I stopped by just to see what high CBD products were offered to help with aches and pains. NOT looking for any THC psychoactive highs or any entourage effect. It would help if I was able to see and evaluate packaging, etc. like I did at Harvest Off Mission. The only thing I learned from the budtender was that getting a state issued medical marijuana card would be worth it only if I bought THAT much THC to offset tax vs the fee for the card. I'm not looking for THC anyway so useless to me. Also learned that medical marijuana docs are quacks. Not at all surprised about that one!
Been purchasing stuff from here for a long while. quality place, but greedy with money.I have a store credit and trying to use it has been more than frustrating and impossible.Poor customer service. Great Sales department!!!!
Love this place. Great staff, great options, and great ambience. The Apothecarium feels like a trendy art gallery as opposed to a dispensary. I describe it to people as the Sax fifth ave of dispensaries.
The staff at Apothecarium are very knowledgeable. My budtender , Tatiana , was excellent. Really knows her stuff! I would highly recommend this dispensary!
The employees here are super helpful they listened to my issues and gave good recommendations.
Although flashy in appearance and heavily staffed there is something that eerily is upsetting here for medical marijuana users. They ask few questions, they immediately bring menus and push lots of products without full understanding of what is wrong. One of the women at the desk said everyone there is high all day. Another said it's a staff rule that no one can use during their shift. Another clinic said he disbelieved this and I do also. They have people from 6 months to a few years experience whereas other places where I am now shopping, have been around 10-14 years with lots more compassion and experience.I find these folks cold and weird. It's like they are selling at Macys only it's pot. This may be fine for "potheads" but leaves much to be desired for people who are seeking a healing rather than a "boutique" experience.I strongly do NOT recommend them.
Prices are higher than other carriers. The worst part is the staff though. Every single staff member and manager at the entry desk was super high, talked at you, and treated me like I was desperate to get past a velvet rope at an exclusive club. Literally no hello, just 'ID' barked at you. Then the clip board is thrown at you asking which plan you want. Honestly, if you use any of the herb delivery services in the city they have cheaper prices, huge variety, and kind delivery people . Usually also accept cards. This place is for first timers, old people, and people who want to buy weed in California as a tourist.
I visited this place on my day trip to SF yesterday. Had a very pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They had a great selection and even gave me $5 off because I was a new customer. I will definitely return when I'm back in town. Thanks guys!
Haven't seen the person I dealt with that was rude. Selection at this store is unparalleled and well curated. The edibles in particular are well selected.
We walked in and felt welcome immediately. The front desk representative did the intake process and was very seamless. When we met Jade who was our consultant, she listed to my friend and I. She heard what we liked and what we wanted our end result to be. In the end, she provided fantastic service. We are very happy to have met Jade. She answered all of our questions and provided tailor responses to our needs. Nate was also supporting Jade and he ensured we were taken care of. Thank you both for our experience! We will meet again.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Front desk ladies were super helpful and personable. Great first experience!
Ok so before I became a member of Apothecarium I shopped around my hood for a bit. I decided to go with Apothecarium because it is super clean, professional staff are on point with knowledge of the product and very welcoming. My most favorite person there is the lovely Sophia. She always provides an amazing customer experience every time. She remembers my name and she always suggests the perfect product.I will keep coming back and tell my friends about her.Thank you Sophia!
the place is very very aesthetic, but tooooo aesthetic just to purchase marijuana... you'd expect to come in and go straight out. they make you sit down & then call you to purchase. ALSO there is this guy, very sassy like that treated me like shit. I had questions because I was new there.. he straight up treated my like shit and was rude.
I really want write to thank everyone who work here today.I dropped my phone in the store and these nice people helped to find it and kept it safe until I went back. They refused to tell me who exactly found my phone, so I am here to thank everyone in the store.Besides, those people are also very professional about their products. The place is really neat and pleasant.
Sad what's happened to this place since legalization. I actually came to yelp to find a new place to buy weed for a couple reasons. Most important is their prices which have more than doubled since I started coming here. When it was a medical cannabis club, the edibles I use were about $25 for a package. I don't use them that often so it's usually a few months before I need to resupply. Every time I've gone there, the prices have been jacked up more. The last time was the last stray, it was almost $100 for two packages. Yipes. At least the wait times have calmed down since right after legalization when they were 1 to 2 hours. I'm happy the owners are multi-mllionaires now but I won't be helping them on their road to the billionaire's club.
Very chic dispensary. The waiting area would remind you of a Fox Concept restaurant! Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Tons of options to choose from. No public bathroom and you're not able to take pictures.
This place is the real deal. If you're looking for a "high end" cannabis experience, you've come to the right place. A pristine space with a lobby and menus to view the product beforehand. The staff all appear to be very helpful and willing to answer any questions you have.
This is not a comprehensive review or even a review of my experience of going to the store. It's a review of my disappointment thus far of my attempts to just view the menu online. There's the rectangle that says something like [View Menu]. When you hit it you cannot view the menu, only a page that states that you have to sign up for 'blackbird'. At this point I don't even know what products they carry let alone if I want to sign up to get them. Either they have put some thought into how they set this up or they didn't. If they did, they really don't care about how they treat their customers. If they didn't, they have very sloppy business practices.
The Apothecarium is one hell of a place as it comes to dispensaries. Upon entry after clearance of your appropriate documents, you are assigned a person that will take you through your bud purchasing journey. The furnishings and build of the place is unlike any other, super tasteful, clean, uncluttered with an array of unique, tastefully made products on the entry shelves. I went during my visit to San Francisco for business, and I went several times to collect different strains. The credit card POP system was down, so everything was done in an organized fashion by hand. I'll say outright that this place WILL cost more than neighboring facilities. I don't blame them for having to pay the lease for such a prime location in downtown San Francisco. In other words, don't come here if you've only got a couple bucks to spend. This is meant to be an experience. AND, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A CALIFORNIA STATE RESIDENT TO VISIT THIS PLACE. You need a doctor rec, state ID and it must be processed and accepted via their website prior to your first visit. Thereafter, you're set. Enjoy.
I am a recent customer. Before I received my letter of recommendation I found the MeadowMD, Dr. Dan Price, with whom I had a video conference, on Apothecarium's website. That was a great start.Apothecarium is a beautiful space, and the employees are professional and friendly. They had everything I needed, and the person who has helped me really knows her stuff and has been able to provide some excellent recommendations. Also, no tye-dye or gods' eyes anywhere. (Little bit of hippie humor. :) )This is my go-to dispensary. I am a happy patient!
The best looking environment, the most creative safe products and the most knowledgeable staff.Senior discount and take credit cards. Plus their delivery service rocks. I had a horrible knee replacement and used them to recommend and supply CBD products. No pharmacy pain meds ever.
The apothecarium has a professional staff and I'm greeted by name when I enter. The selections of medicinal cannabis is varied and of the highest quality. There is never a long wait and the staff are very knowledgeable about the products offered
I was helped by Cesar who proved to be very knowledgeable and kind. He walked me through suggestions of bud, cartridges and vapes. I'm very pleased with the service provided here.
Great service! Friendly staff that don't give you attitude. Very helpful - no rude doorman. Beautiful place and experience.
Been coming here for over a year. Used to walk into this place feeling like it was my hometown; everyone was friendly, good deals, short wait, availability of facilities. Came here for the first time since they've been open for recreational use; so much has changed. Hour wait, unfriendly vibes, prices have nearly doubled, and you can no longer use their restroom (while you wait for nearly an hour). I'm disappointed in what used to be my favorite pot shop. Time to find another.
Pretentious af the prices were expensive and there wasn't a huge selection. The que was also weird sit in a chair and they will call your name. Ok whatever..
I decided to try cbd for the first time, so my friend and I went here to check it out. The vibe is kinda cool I guess, but being talked down to at the counter was a real let down. The staff member I was talking to kept assuming I was experienced with weed and kept ignoring my questions or concerns, at one point I asked her about the ratio of thc in a certain product compared to another type, she just looked bitter and sad "I'm not even going to do the math." Having spent a good chunk of my change I would have rather gone home feeling optimistic, rather then feeling like I should have gone somewhere else. For newbies.... this place seems to be a real drag
I have been a customer for many years now. I have insomnia and anxiety disorder and canibus does a great deal to help these problems. But tonight I showed up a full 30 minutes before closing to a locked door. Upon knocking I was told they we are closed because of the wait time. If you want to call yourself suppliers of medicine, how dare you turn people away when I'm sure many people inside were recreational users. I was told by staff there that there would be separate lines for medicinal users. I now must reconsider where I get my canibus from now on becsuse someone saying "sorry sir" and closing the door on me, someone with medical needs needing medicine, a full half hour before their posted closing time, did not sit well.
Great people! Great spot! This place has an awesome selection of almost everything. You can always find meter parking across the street. Sometimes there's a wait but it's worth it.
Wow. Beautiful place. Incredibly helpful staff. I have horrific back pain after 5 surgeries and they showed me several alternatives and I ended up with some very helpful transdermals. Who knew!!
This place is in decline. So sad. I have been coming here since they were in their old location and *was* super loyal. When they opened to the public (versus medical patients only) apothecarium lost its mojo. Gone are the days of personalized greetings and short wait times. Gone is the no cell phone policy--the last time I was in the store a customer was *shooting video of people inside waiting.* Gone are the days of seeing what you're buying--everything is preweighed and prepackaged. Gone are the days of nice menus--they all look like they've been run over by a bus, if you can find one. Gone are the days of a decent loyalty/point program that resulted in credits and gifts with purchase--now its some discount bs. This place's pricing is also on the high side. Save your time, money, and privacy and just get your weed delivered. Apothecarium is now a tourist trap and no longer relevant.
This is a far cry from the cynderblock bunkers I'm used to in LA, and it's very refreshing to have such a nice, upscale experience while visiting.
Ya bro ya please thank you. Whenever you go to a dispensary make sure they have a chill seating area where you can relax and reflect before dropping serious dough. This place is super nice and warm and inviting, staff is very knowledgeable and ready to assist. Thanks for the help and medicine I want to go back.
Used to live nearby. I've tried a lot of SF dispensaries. I havent found anything that tops apothecarium yet! the store front is really nice. the packaging is great. they allllllways give me a free j! most importantly: everything they have is super duper high quality. The purchasing team there must be all-stars. I'm never ever disappointed. its always smells great and is immaculately trimmed. delivery always takes a long time. the only reason ive ever bought somewhere else is if i miss the delivery window. Please please get Marina location up and running!
The wigged Security guard was extremely rude. Bearded Front desk man with eyebrow ring very snotty. Not a super long wait but this Castro location could use some etiquette.
Super helpful for first timers from out of town. Went with the sea salt caramels. Not exactly a Ghirardelli but good nonetheless. I'd highly suggest ONLY ONE at a time.
If I could give 0 stars I would...... super rude and aggressive lady working at the front desk. There's a ton of dispensaries in San Francisco so go to one with nice employees like flower power or green door!
Love the people working at this location!Unfortunately, as a medicinal user, I no longer feel comfortable there. It seems all about recreational users now. There are long lines and no way to get around that even if you were a long time medicinal customer.I am so disappointed.Update. I changed my rating since discovering this place gives incentives for good reviews. I am so saddened that my former favorite shop and the only place I purchased cannabis for years has changed so much from what it used to be. I will never shop there again.
I originally reviewed this place but gave it a second chance. And a third. And a forth. And now it is my favorite dispensary. Things got a little hits everywhere right after legalization and now they always are on point with inventory and I can get in and outta there in fifteen minutes.
I have noticed that since Apothecarium has gone recreational, the quality of the flowers (as they are now called) has gone done and the price has gone up.Plus, some of the people working there are rude.
Totally wrecked by the recreational marijuana transition. The quiet, anxiety free visit has been replace by sharing a space with a hoard of people. Place used to be wonderful, definitely a lost a gem
I have been coming here for years for medicinal usage. The staff has always been knowable and compassionate. Unfortunately they just seem to be in it for the money now, they have raised their prices beyond just the taxed amount. One item was $20 in Dec 17, it is now $32. I questioned them on the price hike and they said it was due to taxes. I found a number of places that still have the $20 price tag and they said it was the companies selling old stock. The new point system is also a joke, I had a credit of about $50 and the new system is I have to have 100 points for a credit of $5, not worth it anymore since there is plenty of competition. They have great product and sales staff, but you will pay to high a price for it.
My favorite spot in the city, super friendly service and the decor is really nice. You have art work and big comfy chairs in the lobby.
Very well mannered staff . All professional and clean . Very up scale with a gourmet take on the cannabis intdustry
This place is gorgeous inside and we really lucked out on parking, but far too popular. Going in once is enough. My boyfriend and I were helped by Alex/Allen? Young shaggy haired bass player. He's super nice and enthusiastic, but we thought he was taking too long (although I'm not personally complaining, it was nice, but the place was packed). Since my boyfriend and I were paying as one tab, and they have a 6 person limit at the display, one worker had to step to the side and take a break. He was darker skinned, wore glasses, and looked so angry. He just stared us down which I thought was rude and unprofessional. Overall, a great place. Due to the popularity, small size, and terrible parking, I don't find it worth it. Sorry!
Freakin' love the "budtenders" here. They're knowledgeable, fun and really care that you're happy with what you're getting. I appreciate that. The location itself is also great, and so is the building. Modern, super-classy too!
The Apothecarium is a Top-notch cannabis dispensary. Located just across Safeway (near Church on Market St) it's fantastic for locals and visitors. Every person I've met at the Apothecarium has been very informed on their products, which makes it easy for people who aren't sure about new cannabis products coming out. The decor/atmosphere are professional and artistic and the prices are great. After reading some of these reviews, I begin to wonder if there's some competitive thing going on here because Everyone at the Apothecarium is kind and considerate like I'd expect at any professional outlet. The price's once again, are great. I'm currently eating a 1/4 of a KIVA bar (total bar: 180mg THC) and it cost less that $20 at the Apothecarium, and it tastes great! I've been smoking since 1968, have been in recovery from alcoholism for over 30 years and this is the nicest, most professional cannabis dispensary that I've seen come along! Peace, Love & Namaste'
This place was lovely, albeit a bit of a scene on a Friday night ;) Casey was so amazing. She explained the products, she was kind and thoughtful. It was super helpful that she gave us different cost effective options and didn't just try and up sell us. We'll be back!
If you're into waiting, this is the spot for you. Also if you like your weed with a side of mumbo-jumbo... "Do you need to run super fast, but also your ankle hurts? Well, you should try sparkle magics healing herb. Do you want need to eat a ton, but also don't want to burp? You should try revitalize (TM) eat-well-indica."The other dispensaries I've been to are preferable unless you are in it for the "experience." I've had great luck at other places -- in and out in no time and better prices to boot.
I've been to a handful of dispensaries and this was my favorite so far. The place is spacious and light filled and the selection is great! I want to give a special shout out to Jackie who helped me find the perfect product for my needs. I've never experienced that level of presence from someone who took the time to help me narrow down what would be the best for me. I felt really seen, considered, and taken care of. Thanks Jackie!
Great professional atmosphere, trees, edibles and etc are outstanding!! Been to many Trees Clinics and this is the best, hands down!!
What a ripoff--shit herb and never anything fresh. Girl at front said my medical card wasn't good there--probably trans discrimination. See ya. The funny thing is I've spent A lot of money there. Lost my business
I like this place! Looks good and the staff has been nice fun and helpful. Except today. Maybe this guy was too high for being in front of other human beings? Not a single eye contact, saying random things more to himself than me. "sorry the bud is larfy", lar.. what? Please use your words :) Also he probably put as much in the tray than next to it on the counter.. It sure is a lot of effort Having weird introvert stoners on your staff doesn't do you service
the best in town. it's a beautiful and delightfully intimate space. I always feel helped and heard- their consultations are exactly that- a consultation- in which my needs and preferences are discussed. I love that! I can see how it might read as a little stuffy to some, but everyone who works there is so kind and welcoming. I never feel like the odd one out there. their flowers are beautiful and impeccably trimmed and cured. they'll weigh out any amount you want right in front of you, and they have a light/magnifying set up so you can really get a feel for the products. this is my favorite dispensary in the city, hands down. there's usually a line in the early evenings when everyone gets out of work, but it's worth it.
Good for generic pot but they were not good for specialized care. If your in need of advice on pain, they don't have the resources. Very comfortable environment
Great selection, friendly & knowledgeable staff, nice location, atmosphere is impressive... can't wait until legalization. They will be the best in town! I honestly won't shop anywhere else. Prices are not bad considering the high quality flower, oil, edibles, and cbd products they have to offer!
Long line but worth the wait! Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I got a really professional vibe from them. As a recreational user you just show your i.d. and it is a fairly simple process. They also have current up to date menus so you can browse while you wait. And they take credit/debit! So happy overall with my experience and would recommend this location to any one looking for Cannabis.
Nice shop. Nice staff. Nice products. You definitely have to wait in line though unless you go in on a week day. Also conveniently next to Whole Foods so you can grab a sandwich after you buy your small batch artisan marijuana chocolates.
been coming to the apothecarium for years! the new location is a great space, they have a rotating art corner that's great to pore over while waiting for them to call you up. the staff is super friendly and fairly knowledgeable, and their prices are fair (especially if you're not picky - $25 for an eighth of their melange shake is such an awesome deal). i highly recommend the apothecarium. great staff and high end decor make this an experience not to miss.
I think that this dispensary, apart from others, has some distinguishing factors:- The decor is wonderfully nice. I was left wondering who the creative genius behind the entire system was, and I love the mood.- They seem to be very "on," all the time. I'm not sure that this dispensary lets their employees smoke during their shift. Now, I realize that's something older folk and maybe more conservative folk might not like, and I respect that. But I don't want to feel like I'm shopping at the Neiman Marcus of marijuana, here. I want to feel personable, at home or somewhere tranquil, being introduced to something great by someone I can keep coming back to, someone who gets to know me and what styles of inebriation I like. I don't feel that the Apothecarium (which is beautifully named) is that type of place. - I felt looked down upon a bit while I was in there. They made me feel really anxious, like I did something wrong when I didn't sit in the right chair, or didn't put the patient form in the right place. Everyone was nice, but it seemed forced. I don't like that in a dispensary that sells such a holistic medium, I think that takes away from the unity-building vibe that smoking weed may tend to give you, and the idea of this type of fakeness selling that just bothers me on a fundamental level. Maybe that's just me, however.- I'm an aspiring marketing knowledge whiz. The product and concept design for this place looks great. The decor, the ambiance, the atmosphere, the slightly-but-not-SUPER-high-uptick-in-pricing-for-that-additional-cash-money because they're located near Castro, the smooth but impersonal retail service, fundamentally by business principles you would learn in school, it's damn good "business."But I don't know, man. I kind of want my dealer to have a chill vibe. I want some Pineapple Express type shhh, you know?
Top notch club with top notch people. They also donate to many wonderful organizations as a way to give back to the community
This is by far the best dispensary in the city! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the space is laid out beautifully. Great selection as well. This is the only spot you need if you are in SF
I've developed a number of health issues over the past couple of years and decided to try medical marijuana (read my review/horror story about the Kaiser at 2238 Geary). I decided what the heck, the meds I've been prescribed are far more dangerous and have much more potentially horrible side effects than MMJ. My first dispensary visit was in July 2015 after I got my "green card" from Green Evaluations (see review), and I went again in October (I think). I was very impressed with how classy and clean the store is, and how the staff made me feel very comfortable and made helpful suggestions for what to purchase. Only those holding the proper permit are allowed in the store. A staff member watches for malingerers and loiterers outside, which made me feel more at ease. Recently I was running low so a few days ago I ordered what I needed online and had it delivered. That was a great experience too, very simple and my order arrived when they said it would. The price of delivery is well worth the cost, especially since this is pre-Superbowl time and traffic is starting to get pretty crazy in the city.Another The Apothecarium dispensary is supposed to open sometime on Lombard (Marina). I'm eager for that to happen that location is closer to where I live.
From the front desk to leaving service was great! Staff was super friendly. I'm visit from SD and wanted to visit here. The budtender was a nice gentleman who gave me great local recommendations to nice view spots for the golden gate! Little bummed they did not have disposables, but was set up with something I could use still back home so it was a win win. Thank you!
Furs dispensary experience in SF and I am already loyal to this place. Their whole team is on board with their mission that's very obvious thru the culture and customer service. Great service even better product recommendation. Love- love- love. Thank you.
Beautiful inside to this place - definitely stepped up compared to most industrial looking places. NIce people up front - fairly quick approval process, and then they call you up. Small but reasonable selection, at least they have some full on sativa's, some places only have hybrids or indica dominants. Not the most expensive, not on the inexpensive side either. Best of all - extremely convenient - close to bart, reasonable parking and since it's in the Castro - it seems less secretive aka more normal. Always good and fun people walking around that area.
They've been out of CBD strains for several weeks now. When I called last week they said they'd have them in by last Friday and today, four days later, they still do not. When I asked a manager why, he explained that marijuana was a plant, and like other vegetables it required time to grow. If you'd like a fully-ripened vegetable with a high content of CBD, I'd suggest shopping at Medithrive, their competitor, a few blocks away. They had exactly what I needed, and what I was told I could find at Apothecarium, which I once found more reliable.
I always avoided here because my friends told me the staff had a snobby, superior attitute. This was far from the case when I dropped by for the first time. Their service was exceptional!Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. From the doorman, to the receptionist (who I was bugging on the phone earlier) and the guys behind the counter who answered any and all questions I had. I was inquiring about what waxes they had that would be good for inducing hunger and anxiety, they did not disappoint! I also got three free edibles (mmm peanutbutter cups, 35mg) so I left the place delighted. I haven't bought their bud but it's on the pricey side! Think $50 and up for an 1/8. Maybe it packs enough kick to warrant that kind of price tag but I doubt all their strains are worth that much. I buy directly from growers usually so maybe I'm just being spoilt. Will update in a week or so when I pick something up. Edibles are good but weak. Apparently, they pick ones so it's easier for first timers to dose correctly which I get if you need strong meds, these will not cut it unless you have money to burn to buy multiples. Personally, I'd get these elsewhere but the edibles here are top quality so.... Go figure.tl;dr Fantastic dispensery with a good selection and very knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended, will be back here again and again. Thank you!Doesn't accept cash for delivery, boo! Minus a star, cash is king. Sorry!
I've heard a lot of wonderful things about this spot. Finally found my way out in the Castro, so of course I jumped in line. Friday night, few folks outside, about 10 inside waiting and another 5/6ish being helped. Their menu is lovely. Their process is seamless. Their people are delightful. And their product, absolutely perfect. Didn't realize their accepted cards- - so I pulled my cash out and made it work.Next time I'm out that direction I'll make sure to stop back in.
I really like this place. Super quick service, huge selection, very beautiful space. They have a bigger selection of Pax cartridges, they have a huge edibles selection and a lot of CBD as well. Really impressed with this place. Far more professional and friendly than most.
I received a sub-par pre-roll and reviewed it here on Yelp. The manager contacted me personally to correct the problem. He let me know that they had canceled the supplier and had found a much more reliable source. They offered me complimentary pre-rolls so that I could see the new supplier and they were WONDERFUL. Definitely visit this great, high-class cannabis club.
Went for a quick after work pick up and somehow got skipped in line. Will was able to tell without even being told and bumped us to the front of the line. Super awesome guy who resolved the matter on his own. Love seeing people take charge. Thank you so much for keeping our Friday on a good foot!
Staff is very friendly there's a wRm vi e when you walk I. And you wait for them to call your name . The staff takes there time to become familiar with there clientele and I also love how they have a point system that is attached to your name. And how they weigh out the buds n front of you
I have a crush on the hot nerdy staff here. They love their job, and the passion shows. I learn something new I swear, every time I go in. Helpful and polite and super cool. Aces on the sweet delivery guys as well.My only complaint are the hand rolls- often times its rolled so tight it's impossible to smoke. Smash it down for a few minutes. I had to unroll one once completely, I gave up, ha.
Super snotty atmosphere and super high prices. Is this what the marijuana business has come to?
I told them I had bought a vape pen a while back, and it didn't work (it never had). After inspecting it, they offered to exchange the $30 cartridge (not because I asked them to). Then when it came time to pay for all the rest of the stuff I was buying (including three eighths, another vape pen and cartridge), they told me it had been too long since my original purchase to exchange the item. The manager refused to follow through with their offer. So my $200+ overall bill became $70, because I got only what I needed and will rest better knowing the business they thanked me for will not be returning anytime soon. Nice ambience, though.
Used to Love this place. Have dropped thousands over the past couple years.Original crew was great!Now... They just seem arrogant.Too many other places to shop.Won't be back.
New Facility - Undesirable experience. I have been a regular here since they opened and I enjoyed seeing their growing success. Over time that success turned into long lines and long wait times. As a result, I was excited when they moved into their new dispensary up the street. This morning was my first chance to check the new place out. Its a beautiful looking store, the chandeliers and flocked wallpaper reminiscent of the old digs. I was surprised after checking in at 10:30 on a Saturday morning not that there were 13 people waiting ahead of me, but there were only two staff working behind the counter. It didn't take long to see that I was easily in for a wait time of 30 to 45 min. So despite the new place, they have chosen to cause even longer wait times. In a town where premium dispensaries are a commodity, I chose not to stay. I will shop elsewhere.
Great Spot! Very friendly consultants and hosts. So glad this is going to become my go to!
Disappointingly, the quality of this place has gone down the tubes.I waited 20 minutes to get my verification completed, after one of the workers at the door made a stink about me not bringing my full paper recommendation. After waiting, they called two patients who had just entered the dispensary. I was last in line somehow. I was in a rush, so I decided to come back another day.I enter the next time, and the place is relatively empty. I am called within a couple of minutes, after being asked to remove my glasses. I read the menu and ask to see oils, only to be told that they are out of stock on every single oil that is displayed in their enticing menu.At least if the workers there were pleasant, it would make up for the fact that they don't have anything in stock, let alone that their menu is overpriced (you'll pay a few dollars more at apothecarium than you will at other more competitively priced dispensaries that have better service)Unfortunately, I won't be coming back to, or recommending this place to anyone again. Not with places like Sparc and SFFOGG that are raising the bar in this space instead of lowering it.
Terrible experience with two front desk staff members. They treated customers with suspicion and a total lack of customer service focus. In addition, as we walked in, two customers' dogs got in a dog fight in the entryway. It was scary and weird. No one in the store addressed it. So from dog fight to essentially hostile front desk staff, we were off to a bad start. I would have left (it's not as if there are no other options to choose from) but we were with my sister from out of town and wanted to keep it simple. I still wish we had left, because one of the women from the front desk still found a way to get in our hair again, coming over to the counter and having me move over (she actually laid hands on me) so her customer could have more room at the counter. Weird and unnecessary. Don't shop here. There are so many other choices. Find a more professional and relaxed alternative.
My experience here was unlike any other. I've been to a handful of dispensaries in the city, but this one is definitely special. Literally when I walked inside, I was amazed by how nice it was inside. It felt like a fancy hotel/lounge lol. They have couches and menus laying around while you wait for your name to be called. Once I was called by an employee, the transaction felt personal and Steve was very helpful since it wasn't first time! They offer freebies for your first time and if you spend over $80, and they have a point based system which you can later use for store credit once you've earned enough points! I love this place, and I HIGHLY recommend stopping by!
Nice enough place but it doesn't have a very welcoming vibe, I feel as though I'm getting judged the same way I feel when I go to the Apple Store. Having said that the place is clean, the staff professional and the prices are in the same league as other SF dispensaries.
What can I say that hasn't been already said about this marvelous dispensary. Okay, let me try. But really, this place has it all. Great products, great energy, and beautiful faces. I've had the pleasure of speaking to each member at some point in both the original and the amazing new location. Always a great greeting, and the waiting space is much larger, they even have an artist gallery featuring a local artist. A new shop is open selling products including hoodies, books, pipes, and business logo collectables. The company is even opening a classroom soon to help educate more people on the uses of cannabis. I am looking forward to see how this community embraces the new legalization. Thanks Apothecarium team for being amazing.
I moved here from Santa Monica where I had some hit and miss experiences at dispensaries, but still a solid experience. I've also done the "club" thing all over Amsterdam and in Barcelona, basically, I consider myself quite opinionated on (medical) cannabis, ways to use and how we socialize with it.When I moved to SF from LA, I joined the Apothecarium immediately after glowing reviews & sampling products from friends. When I moved to the Mission, and later to Marin, I joined different dispensaries in those respective areas, but after 1 visit with each, I am an even more diehard Apothecarium fan than I was after my initial experience discovering the place! It's THE BEST DISPENSARY/COLLECTIVE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD.There is nowhere better. HIGH quality products, always changing inventory, amazing customer service and awesome staff. You can bring your dog and they show that they value your business by providing freebies after you spend certain dollar amounts. Trust me, not a lot of places do that, it makes a major difference to get a free joint/edible after spending so much. Or even better, they hook you up with a free eighth once you get a certain number of points!I can't say enough good things about this place, hell, I make the drive from Sausalito just to get what I need.Thank you to the Apothecarium for raising the bar in this industry. very HIGHLY recommend. Would give 6 stars if I could!
The budtenders here are toxic. I stopped visiting here months ago to get my meds because the attitudes and looks you get from behind that counter can kill sometimes and really trigger me. So I have my caretaker go and get them here for me cause my mental disability can't handle coming to establishment in person as I always get triggered and end up having to bring myself back up. I should never feel sick in the process of getting my meds. Tonight I had my caretaker come up and get the badass edibles they have here and he didn't even get me the meds I had asked for cause he felt rushed and flustered by the bud-tender becoming overly aggravated by his questions and giving a really negative tone. He doesnt even have a mental disability and cant help but get an anxiety response when he comes here!!! No wonder it takes me an HOUR to bring myself down after I visit this place. This is why I don't want things fully legalized for recreational use, because this "recreational" feel to ones job would lead me not to be nearly as respectful, unless I was being directed to do so, and this is what all this comes down to is respect. Never gonna come here again as its not worth the attitude and getting MORE SICK.
This is probably the nicest dispensary in all of San Francisco. It is welcoming and a comfortable place to visit. The staff is generally very friendly and informative. I am taking away 1 star because I had to do an exchange (Bloom Farms battery cartridge) and was treated very negatively by one of the staff members. She treated me like a HUGE inconvenience. I have interacted with her before and she has a poor sense of customer service. Now, I don't expect employees to flip over backwards and put on fake smile for me, but at least have the decency to connect with customers and provide great customer service. Or at least taking on a friendly tone and appreciating your customers.
Great ambianceprofessional customer servicequality products with competitive pricinggreat purchase points program
I went here on opening day for recreational in San Francisco. The signup process was fluid and the product I purchased definitely did the job. The service during a very busy day was also awesome.
Nice quality place and beautiful ambiance. Expensive for cancer patients to buy much needed oil.
the apothecarium is extraordinary. it is unlike any other dispensaries. it is aesthetically beautiful, the clients are sophisticated and the product is very high quality.going to the apothecarium is an experience. when you walk in you are greeted by the most friendly danyol and camille. they made me feel super welcome, they were very welcoming & professional. the check in process is super easy and smooth.i had the absolute luck and pleasure of working with marcella. marcella is amazing. she is smart, very knowledgeable and kind. she made recommendations based on my needs that were spot on. i appreciated her thoughtfulness and her ability to help me as opposed to "sell" me.this is really a great place. its an experience and you will not be disappointed. :)
I am giving this review 2 stars, and that is only because I spoke with the manager, Allegra, who was very nice and understanding. I was visiting from out of town when I suddenly felt ill, I mean, really ill, the staff would not let me use the restroom. Prior to this intestinal attack, many of the staff members, one in particular, yes, I am talking to you, guy wearing the black dress with a white peter pan collar on 4/20. Yes, it was on 4/20 that this occurred, I did not even realize the meaning of this date being from out of town from the east coast. I was in there to find an oil to help anxiety. The poor, rather condescending, uncaring treatment I received by the staff only added to my anxiety. I was having major cramps and not one person there tried to help me. Instead, I was told to go to the Whole Foods, I could barely walk, I did not find the Whole Foods, instead, I went across the street to the Safeway (really comfortable when you're about to pass out) where I got worse and was very ill, had to be taken to the hospital and found out I had e coli. Kind of ironic that I would get sick at a place like the Apothecarium, where they are supposed to help people with their health issues. Wow, this was an opportunity to shine and show how you can really help people, how about some human kindness? Thank you so much to the staff who really went out of their way to help a very sick customer, especially to you, guy wearing the black dress with a white peter pan collar. (that was sarcasm, in case you are wondering) Maybe you guys ought to take some lessons in being able to identify when someone is having a medical emergency or if they "just want to use the restroom." Shame on you. That being said, I called the next day and spoke to Allegra, who was kind, understanding and told me that had she been there, this would not have happened. Allegra sounded sincere and thoughtful, Maybe you guys should shut down all of your locations, like Starbucks, and learn how to treat customers. These 2 stars are because Allegra was so nice when I called, otherwise I would leave 0 - 1 star. Allegra alone gets 5 + stars. Black dress/peter pan collar man gets -----0. Congrats! I will go back when I am in SF again, and see if I will change the star status and this review, maybe I will. Let's see. This was not the way to treat a customer having a medical emergency, Castro Apothecarium staff members. Thank you to Allegra though, you are kind-hearted and caring. If only you had been there on 4/20. Thanks for talking to me just now.
Love it here. It's always a wait and a bit expensive ($20 for Terra bites and $18 other places) but people are friendly and they have a huge selection. Also just clean and nice inside.
My first time here and first time getting some medical cannabis for pain control. A very professional and knowledgeable staff; well organized and friendly. As a senior, I needed a lot of advice since I have not used cannabis for MANY years! Kyle helped me decide the best choice; I am hoping for great results using the CBD Spray.
I can not say enough good things about the Apothecarium. Seriously, these people are like family and their product is heaven sent. I have never, EVER gotten anything less than the highest top shelf flowers and hash/oil every....single....time Ive come here. Every time I come in I know Im getting the best medicine around. I would even go as far as to say the best meds in all of Bay Area, if not all of California. I remember bringing several different strains down to LA and having every connoisseur patient friend of mine who had a chance to try it say it was the BEST flowers they have ever tried. The only problem about coming here is trying to control the amount of money you spend! But they have an awesome rewards program where for every 800 dollars you spend you will get a top shelf eighth of your choice. Sounds high but it adds up fast and I've reached it many times quite easily and have been very happy with my $60 worth reward. The customer service is always spectacular and the staff is extremely knowledgable in all areas and I always end up leaving learning a new thing or two. They have many different classes and services for the patients throughout the week including yoga, meditation, and nutritional guidance. Also they've come to know my by my name and know my preferences which is always such a breath of fresh air in customer service. I fell in love with this place from my first time checking it out and it has only gotten better from there. I really love you guys, thank you for showing your patients so much love! I would recommend this place to all patients.
Excellent and classy experience. I Loved the pharmacists behind the counter!! I was worried about the many different strains as a clueless and nervous first timer and my pharmacist was knowledgable and empathetic about my concerns.
Everything you could ever want but be prepared to pay higher prices for it. Staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. A great place to get an introduction to the world of marijuana.
When walking into this dispensary, I felt underdressed and that we may have misread the sign on the front of the building. But a nice guy at the front welcomed us in along with the inviting aromas that overtook our nostrils. We had interactions with 5 different people that worked there and all of them called us by name and really made us feel comfortable. Extremely quick sign-up, bomb selection of bud, really descriptive menu's, and you get a free pre-roll or edible on your first visit! Highly suggest this place and there's great sushi in the area for snacks after haha. Will definitely be back.[ Be sure to feel the wall on your way out, you'll understand after. ;) ]
I never, EVER thought I would be someone that would smoke the cannabis, let alone be the Ganja Queen. But here I am with a card, legal and everything. A quick PSA: Weed actually has a lot of health benefits. It's one of the purest substances on Earth. I used to be one of those people that looked down on those who smoked weed but I have since changed my tune and apologize to anyone I suffocated with my judgements. I can not tell you what a life changer this has been. I feel more in tune with everything around me, more creative, relaxed when I need to be, it's amazing and I encourage all of you to try it at least once and see if it opens up your sub conscious. See if your true self is unleashed. I tell ya, I sure as hell like this unlocked version of me a hell of a lot better than the judgmental, rude, ignorant person I used to be. I am grateful that I was brave enough to try weed because it really has made me a better person. I know that sounds crazy but it's true. See for yourself. I promise you won't regret it.Now, back to this wonderland of treats. I came across this place when I volunteered for the Princess Project which is right next door. This is really the most welcoming and appealing dispensary I have ever been to. The decor is something out of a movie. You walk in and you are immersed in a world where everyone is accepting and judgmental. Everyone is so nice. I wish this could be more of a hang out place but of course, the government has made their thoughts on that clear. The whole staff was friendly and educational. My boyfriend took me for the first so I am glad we got to experience this together. This is indeed an experience. They have a whole menu filled with lots of edible treats, oils, wax, different strains. It's crazy. It's a whole art. Just like wine or tea. Different strains offer different THC levels, which have different effects on the brain and body. I ended up getting Red Congo and Girl Scout cookies, some oils for my awesome Dodger Blue vaporizer, macaroons, a candy bar and a lollipop. They have such great products! Really quality items. I loved the Red Congo because it made me relaxed but very creative. My BF says I am lucky because my body feels the effects as listed. Some people have different reactions that are very different from the ones you are supposed to feel. When you go up to purchase your goodies, they are happy to give you any education you need and will let you look at the strain up close. They also give you free goodies on your first time. I just love this place so much and I am really glad it's so close to me. I don't think I can go anywhere else after going here. A few things to know:-You'll need to sign-up with your card the first time-After your first time, you'll just need to bring your ID and not your card-Edibles are tricky: a little goes a long way. You don't feel it right away so be sure to try a little and wait about 2 hours. It usually kicks in slowly.-Vaporizing is amazingEnjoy my ganja buddies!
Whenever I walk by the Apothecarium (which is often given its convenient location) I will take a deep whiff. Ahhhhh such a lovely aroma, better than cinnabuns, by far. Alas, I am basically a doobie-noobie, and up until this evening I have never crossed the threshold. Since this place does indeed seem to be a rather upscale establishment, I refrained from using the term 'doobie-noobie' and admittedly dressed up a little before strolling down the block to make my first visit.I was greeted by a friendly dude at a podium to the left of the entryway, who checked out my papers and gave me an agreement to sign. Like everything else, it looked pretty formal and I was a little wary that I was signing away my soul. But it seems I was just agreeing to not wear sunglasses inside (which I do in fact totally agree with -- it keeps one from looking too much like the Unabomber).Anyway, my name was called and I was assisted by Peter, who was totally amiable and helped me pick out a couple of pre-rolls. As a first-time customer I was afforded a gift, which I was jazzed about, but which made me feel slightly guilty. So I ended up handing over a hefty tip and then skidaddling. I will only need to bring my California ID card to check in again, and they tossed in a box of matches, which are two things that definitely make dropping by easier. A word I read in a lot of reviews is 'pricey'. I am not so acquainted with cannabis to be able to say as to what is the best deal, but I will say that the convenient location, late-ish hours, and totally lovely atmosphere made the experience worth it for me.
Well, it's cannabis at least. This is a dispensary for the novice or recreational smoker. With nice fancy decor and a friendly staff, you naturally assume all their products to be the same. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. If I had to sum up The Apothecarium in one work, it would be: OVERPRICED. Very, very, very overpriced! Don't get me wrong, if you want a decent 8th, you're more than welcome to spend $60+ tax. But those $60 1/8s aren't much better than my neighbors $50 1/4s. Just saying; if you're into the whole "show," and like the idea of cannabis more than the plant itself, this is the place for you. I just weighed out a half gram of stems from this 1/8 I got at The Apothecarium. I paid $35+ tax for 3 grams of poorly grown cannabis and 0.5 grams of nasty stem! Hooray! Their staff is super nice though, these people don't mean bad by anyone. But then again, they pay people to write nice reviews for them. So ownership is DISHONEST.
I've been to this place a few times, but hadn't found it necessary to write a review until this visit. When I go it's usually for their pre-rolls. This is one of my favorite places to go for pre-rolls mostly because of the strains they offer. Although it's kind of pricey, you're getting quality bud. They offer a really good selection of edibles also. And every staff member I've interacted with has been friendly.. I noticed some people complain that it's not a friend-like environment. It's a business so.. Anyway, I came in feeling really nauseous and asked one of the budtenders what strain would help me with that. His recommendation helped very much because I'm a person with a lot of stomach issues, and I've been recommended bud that sometimes makes it worse. I was really happy with my results. I'll probably buy there more often.
There's a song that comes mind when you first walk into the apothocarium (especially if it's your first time visiting a despenserie), "The candy man. The candy man can, because he makes the world taste good."I've only been to a few despenseires since I obtained my card, because once I discovered this one I knew this would be only one for me.The apothocarium is located in a prime location, right on Market st, and it's a stone-throw away from the Church station. The moment you walk through the door your nose is greeted by an intoxicating scent of premium marijuana that is kept securely behind the counter. The apothocarium always has new strains in stock, accompanied with descriptions and rates of that particular strain's effects, so you can find the right one for you.The staff at the apothocarium are nothing but professional and pleasant. They have in depth knowledge of their products, and always weigh it just a little bit over the standard amount for your smoking pleasure. They also have an outstanding selection of edibles from your basic cookie or brownie to bountiful bags of caramel popcorn (I recommend the Auntie Dolores brand. Taste better than the real thing). You can find your concentrates, waxes, and prerolls as well. Enough choices to make you cash out your bank loans and still not have reached the end of the menu. They often have special discounts, and an amusing point system that can go towards future purchases. It will be a sad day if I ever have to leave San Francisco because I know that I will not find a despenseire as good as this one.Don't forget to tip.
Don't get there!! Super expensive! Bad quality!!! I don't even want to talk about the service!!! Stay away from this place.. there are thousands of good dispensaries with an amazing service in SF.. don't spent your money here!!
Well I'm new to this world and being a shy person does not help. From the outside it does not look like much but once you're inside its nicely put together. Very clean and professional. I'm still confused to all the types of cannabis but luckily the menu helps to explain a bit of what does what. The staff is very friendly, attentive, cute and absolutely helpful. So for this is the only place I want to visit. Keep up the great work!
First time card owner. The choices are abundant. I needed suggestions or pain. Caryn was amazing. Spent a lot of time educating me. Listened to workers. All very knowledgeable. Left stress free with some great options for pain without Percocet. Thank you. I won't go any other place
I used to love it here. But boy did they sell out. I've been in twice since the law came to pass for recreational use. I just looked at the 1/8th I bought yesterday....full of stems and only weighing in at 3.5 instead of the 3.6 they used to sell. The quality is shitty, and the price went sky high. I've been spending my money in this establishment for 3 years now, and it used to be so pleasant to shop here. Looks like I'm going back to the old school way and won't be shopping here anymore. I'm sure they don't care now that they've got the recreational users coming in. So much for honoring the customers that helped keep them in business over the years.
Avoid the (only) unhealthy unfit looking budtender if you can. She relished talking down to me about the clubs rules today, awkward because I'm a long time customer and have never ever been treated like that --- most of the budtenders are legit. It seems we were both in a bad place when I wrote the review, and I'd like to retract the personal insult. I do prefer some of the more down to earth dispensaries, for instance Grass Roots feels like a family atmosphere and they make their edibles in house. They are however cash only, so Apothecarium is now when I'm living off credit or short on cash flow.
1. They are hella swank. There is a cool vibe when you go in. It doesn't feel like you are in a skanky dungeon doing something illegal. Full with menus and windows2. The staff is hella hella cool. They were patient with me. I'm a newbie, but they didn't mind answering my questions. They made great recommendations. Staff gets a 5. 3. They are a bit pricey. Compared to all the other places I've been in Oak and San Jose they were 15 or more dollars more expensive than the average place. 4. They have a cupcake that has made me stop smoking weed. It was so strong that I tripped out badly last night. I was so high that I'm still high today. So if you're looking for something to knock you off your ass, that is for you.5. They have a point system and give first timers a nice reward for coming in. Preroll Girl Scout cookies
I never leave reviews but I just have to say these people have some of the best customer service I've ever seen. So friendly and welcoming. Love these guys!
Bought a cartridge last night. Did not work when I tried. Kinda pissed I had to go back this morning. Turns out all cartridges do not fit all batteries. Cartridge I purchased works great with the new battery. Alexra was incredibly nice and really took care of me. Very happy. Great costomer service. Highly recommend.
I have been meaning to write this review for a long time, but now that I am moving away from SF, I feel like it's the perfect time to do so.Like every other young professional coming to SF from the East Coast (typical, right?), I wanted a cannabis card. My situation was different though because I played college football as a running back and had 5 surgeries during my 4 year career. Bone spurs in my neck, a ton pec, two torn shoulders, a broken hand, and a broken tibia on my resume, I never ever wanted to take a painkiller because I have a very addictive personality and wanted to finally use marijuana medically, not recreationally.Originally I lived in Pac Heights and went to a few dispensaries around there, but I was just buying whatever the guy behind the glass window would tell me was the best and having panic attacks when I would try new things. Then I moved to Twin Peaks and found the Apothecarium, which truly changed everything. The Apothecarium is basically a family. They have their regular employees and new ones come in all the time, but they introduce you to the employees through their amazingly detailed menus and it is just such a smooth, calming and relaxing place that you never have to feel intimidated. Standing behind a bar, the employees will truly help you find what will work best for you, whether you know nothing or you are an expert on cannabis. They are very personal and actually do care. They taught me the differences between strains and helped me pinpoint what would make me sleep better, feel better, and not panic at all. The experts stand behind the bar and you can ask as many questions as you want and they will remain friendly. I have never, ever had a bad experience. Not only was living by this place amazing, but then they began to offer delivery, and that changed the game.Josh is usually my delivery guy and he knows I'll be waiting for him downstairs a soon as he gets here. He's done such a great job handling all of these deliveries from the start and truly operates it like a professional. I'm really going to miss my conversations with Josh and the knowledge he had to share. As for the rest of the delivery guys, one time Rock went and did another delivery instead because I was stupid enough to pre-order before I got home, but then came back just to bring me my medicine, even though he didn't have to because it was my fault. Another time, I didn't have a lighter or any matches, and living in Twins Peaks, where there isn't a convenience or grocery store within a mile, that is a huge issue. However, Ely saved the day and gave me his lighter, which to this day I still have. Shout out to Alex too, who has always been so fast. The new delivery site is easy to use, the deliveries are fast and they send you the ETA with a map. It takes usually between 30-90 minutes, but for those of you who are impatient, remember that these guys are dealing with hundreds of orders and driving around one of the most difficult cities to drive in, so cut them a break if it's a little longer than that.I hope these stories about my experience tell you what kind of place this is. The Apothecarium is a club that truly cares about their patients, hires the best and friendliest people who enjoy working for them, and will educate you on how cannabis can seriously improve your life. Sorry for such a long post, but I truly enjoyed being a member of the Apothecarium and hope other people like myself will join and see exactly what I am talking about.
we had a great experience at this location. Casey was so knowledgeable, nice, helpful and she was spending a good amount of time explaining products to us as well as helping us to find what we like. Such a great person. Thank you, Casey, and thank you Apothecarium for having her.
Great staff! Cool atmosphere! A bit pricey but they'll weigh it out so you can spend as little or much you'd like.
Their prices are still way too high to compete with deliveries in regards to flowers but their prices are competitive for edibles. As usual, the staff is friendly and informed and the atmosphere is nice.
was a fan.however since the goverment has taken over the weighing of weed i have had 2 sacks light! and the price is astronomical.i also have a huge problem with how much plastic that is on everything.castro didnt give me the light sack it was lombard location.the weed was sub par for you.i have been a medical user and have bought exclusivley from you only.sorry guys moving on
I am a senior citizen who greatly recommends the Apothecarium. It might be helpful to others to note that I have never smoked marijuana or used any recreational drugs. In the hippie 1960's I lived a conventional life - marriage, children, mortgage and church most Sundays. But I have found enormous help for my physical disorders with cannabis products. Do not be shy or timid, old folks. The staff at the Apothecarium is wonderful in introducing the various cannabis products. They are tireless in providing individual care, and the supervision, under Ian the manager, is flawless. But, most important, your physical health, like mine, might be greatly improved and pain lessened. Five Stars!
Very nice place, super service and quality products. My first time there, I look forward to my next visit. Hoping soon they'll have some really nice beverages, with just as good quality ingredients.
I didn't go in. I'm not allowed too.But this place is the fanciest dispensary I have ever seen. Very cool!
This place is so great, I have never even stepped foot in another dispensary...there are cheaper options, but Apothecarium is definitely worth the extra money!
I once purchased a rank tasting oil cartridge from Harvest. When I asked them if I had any options, they said they'll take a bad tasting cartridge back for trade. A few days ago, I bought a cartridge at the Apothecarium. After I got it home, I discovered it was "flavored." This fact was not noted in the Apothecarium menu from which I made my selection, nor was the flavoring noted by the person behind the counter when I chose it. It was on the box, but I didn't read the box as I just pulled the cartridge out to put in my pocket. As it turns out, I find this flavoring to be absolutely disgusting. I tried to like it, but with each sampling I've disliked it more. I took the cartridge back to the Apothecarium, assuming they'd have the same policy as Harvest. Nope. Their policy is, "you bought it, you own it. It was up to you to know it was flavored." Thus, I'll be going the extra distance to Harvest from here on in.
Parking is a bit difficult, prices are great, staff is friendly, their menu is complex.
People in a lot of pain need quality product at a decent price--i learned this after having an accident and trying many edibles recommended to me by staff here. Then i went to Sparc and lo and behold KOROVA!!! Here is a product that is high in THC, low in cost and taste terrific. I called Apothecarium to request they carry it, but was told they are full up. I find it terribly disappointing and a huge disservice to their customers--i mean a huge delicious cookie w 150mg of THC for $8.00-- a 250mg THC brownie for $12.00? One thing i discovered though--you guys are more expensive for bud than many others--i got OG Kush for $35 a gram at Cookie Co. and Korova Edibles!!! The point is consider the needs and pockets of your customers a little more please..
Been picking up from BASA for the past few months and have wanted to try out other clinics in the city. After a grouchy encounter with Love Shack's employees, I was extremely pleased to experience The Apothecarium. With hardwood floors and stone counters, it's definitely a break from the laundromat-esque look of my neighborhood clinic. All three employees who helped us were extremely helpful and friendly, and even the crowd it attracted was a pleasant one. I picked up Fire OG/Island Sweet Skunk/Sweet Tooth glass and all three are absolutely excellent. Definitely have quality products and they even threw in a free edible and joint! Oh, and it's super cute, they have a bin that collects shoes and coats, and in turn for 'your kindness' (as it says on the bin), they take 10% off your purchase!New favorite place, definitely coming here for a while.
Beautiful space - clean, comfortable, professional and warm. Great service from the very moment you walk in the door. Smooth easy flow and great customer service. Jaeson was friendly, knowledge and really helpful to us in making our choices from a robust menu of options. Highest recommendation for a dispensary.
Fabulous selection, very nice and professional, and new location is Amazing! The new location at the old Mecca restaurant is out of this world. It's so classy and open, and I love how anyone walking bye can see how nice it is. No more hinding in dingy hidden store fronts, this is the future. It's nice enough that you just want to hang out. The little art alcove is a wonderful touch. Great job!
Man at front door not helpful--misread the law. He stated that a MD's recommendation could not be written on prescription pad. I have read The Act. It simply states that an MD cannot prescribe cannabis, not that he can't use a script to recommend. BTW, it is obviously more reliable than a handwritten note which they will accept. From the LA County Dept of Public Health publichealth.lacounty.go… The original written recommendation from your physician on official letterhead, prescription pad, or Written Documentation of Patient's Medical Record. This business is supposed to assist people. They need qualified, informed employees.
Terribly disappointed in The Apoth lately. I've gone there well before the new law and was very pleased with the products AND the staff. Something has changed lately. Granted, all the new products aren't in and I leave room for a CBD product that I like as much as before the law...but the staff I have found wanting lately. The best I can say is dead energy; the worst, actually unpleasant and incredibly unhelpful.
Casey was a delight! She truly gave us a wonderful experience. Will be a frequenter of this location for sure. She was very knowledgeable and was able to recommend so many different options to satisfy our needs. She deserves all of the stars imaginable. 20/10
I have been here a few times and I've had an amazing experience! The workers are knowledge and kind, and they guide you through the whole order. They have high quality products and I would definitely recommend.
I love the Apothecarium. Everyone is so very caring and professional. They know their product well and which one will treat your source of pain most effectively. I especially like that they give samples for you try and see if things work for you. The quality of the product is the highest I have ever seen anywhere and lasts long if you take care of it correctly. Yes, you pay a bit more but I am willing to do that for the quality and professionalism that the Apothecarium offers.
such gorgeous and chill interior + prompt and kind customer service. will def be back!
Knowledgeable staff and great products/prices. Worth the experience.
Unmatched quality of products but very expensive and inconsistent customer service. Very beautiful store and nice location
I am a common visitor at the clinic. Usually the folks are so friendly - today I had to get a mixed bag of things - CBD, Edibles, sativa, some balm and also flowers for insomnia. Tanya was the one helping me and I have to say she was just irritated with me and why I was asking for options etc. I did change the edibles from hard candy to gummies and also asked about the flavors. Overall she had that mean look as if she just wanted me to get out of there. Totally not a warm feeling - pretty upsetting. At one point I was even thinking of asking her why she seemed upset - but I did not. Super cool clinic, top products, bad bad service today via Tanya. Wish I got Laura - she is so awesome.
Oh if Walgreens or CVS or any pharmacy could provide such attention to detail, decor and service. I arrived here, newly carded, for my husband. It was late in the evening and I was worn out at the get-go. Either they recognized it or they're just super friendly to begin with..but I was warmly greeted, soothed, in fact...and explained my issues...through exhaustion. I was provided with tender loving care, support and empathy. When have you gotten that from a Big Pharma facility? I walked away feeling like I had been helped, educated and accepted. It's a new world people. Traditional pharmacies need to wake up to customer service.
One of the few dispensaries in the Bay Area that offers decent medicine, good customer service, and a safe atmosphere. I hate going to some clubs and being overwhelmed by dark lighting and trap music. The Apothecarium is great. Props to Peter for giving me an actual informed opinion about the product he was educated on. This will probably be my go-to dispensary from now on.
The best in SF. Great Service, Ambiance, Selection and prices.Extremely helpful and friendly staff that dont rush you and offer a lot of recommendations. I feel safe here as it has someone at the front door and the vibe of the store is professional and clean. They always give me a complimentary gift with purchase!
Love this dispensary! Nice, Chic, Profesional and the staff is lovely! Only downside they don't have a bathroom. They advise their customers to go to Whole Foods? Bathrooms should be available to customers.
I am a first timer there and First I love the chandelier. The sign up process was fast. The lady behind the desk was polite and professional. They have their medicine in a leather bound menu. Freaking lush. The prices are nice spend 85 get a free joint girl scout joint. They call you up to the bar and the budtender I had she was very cool and knowledgeable and very nice. I can't wait to go back. They have great bud too
If the Green Door is the Wal-Mart of cannabis clinics (see my review, it really is), then The Apothecarium is motherf*cking Nordstroms, ya'll. I should have known what to expect by how nice and old timey the entrance is. They practically drape a smoking jacket over your shoulders and hand you a cigar. Sometimes going into these places, I feel like I need to have my card outstretched before me like I'm waving a white flag in a war zone. At The Apothecarium a kind gentleman warmly welcomes you at the door from a podium, as though he's verifying your dinner reservation. Once you register with them, the next available employee will CALL YOU UP BY NAME to the counter, where they will open up a leather bounded book of their selections and say, "What can we do for you today?" Hot damn- what is this, customer service? I have forgotten what it looks like.Okay, so I only came in here for a pre-roll on good recommendation that their "Rainbow Roll" was a must-try. Which it absolutely is. It's $7 of sativa bliss, guys. Go sit in Duboce or Dolores and enjoy life. I don't even care that they don't accept debit cards. The Apothecarium is the best cannabis clinic I have ever been to. *Don't forget to sign up for their newsletter to stay in the loop! They have an amazing 4/20 special going on right now with free pre-rolls or edibles with purchase.
I can't even believe I'm writing about this, but as a first-timer super-n00b today I felt really well taken care of. The woman that helped me was great and I felt really comfortable talking with her. I'm not sure if it's pricey compared to other places because I've never been anywhere else, but the one-on-one consultation style service and the deliciousness and variety of the products is 5 star.
I really like the inside of the place - kinda like a 19th century pharmacy - and the selection is quite decent. My two biggest star-removers are the service and the packaging.Don't get me wrong - the friendliness and face-to-face time are stellar. Stellar. But almost too stellar. When you're at the counter, they will pull out every item you want to see and tell you anything you want to know about it. Lots of varied info, and seemingly well educated about it. Thing is, it's gotten busier with the closing of Vapor Room a few blocks away. Even with four staffers at the counter it can take up to 15 minutes sometimes to get your turn if people have lots of questions and get many single grams. Even a simple I-know-exactly-what-I-want transaction will take many minutes once you're up. I know, I know, laid back weed culture and all that, but sometimes I just wanna get in and out.The packaging thing really bugs me most. It's excessively, excessively excessive. Very excessive. A single gram: a 3"x6" heavy duty plastic bag that literally is heavier than the nugget. A 2x2 printed label with your name on it. Into a clever paper pharmacy bag. Folded and stapled with your grocery store-sized receipt. Damn. Seriously already. How about at least a small bag for small purchases? Something pocket-sized, perhaps?Other than that I really am glad they are there. Pricing is much higher than I was used to with VR, and they add sales tax as well, so it can be a good 20-25% higher, but the convenience of a single gram purchase makes it worthwhile. I'd lose the tip jars. No offense, but I think it's really offensive and tacky to accept tips for dispensing medication. NO pharmacy would do so. For delivery is one thing, but not for just doing what you're there for. I've even seen employees courteously hold the jar lid open for people to drop in a buck. Makes me feel a little icky about the place. And getting a membership isn't always smooth. If you're new there, they won't let you buy til they've confirmed your doctor note by actually speaking to your doctor's office. If you go late on a Friday on a holiday weekend, no medication for you there til middle of next week. Thanks for being there, though.
This place is pleasant and conveniently located. Unlike some folks, I'm here for the medicine, and they were helpful in directing me to suitable stuff.I'm sure you can find cheaper pot if you're willing to put up with creepy surroundings and questionable service, but the Apothecarium works for me.
Blatant FAKE location! Do NOT go the Castro (or Castro Station): you will have to walk back over half a mile, past the CHURCH ST. station! Just get off at Church. When you get there, even if you live around the corner, your cashier, the whispered word in the unpopulated spacious place is: your cashier will be with you.....shortly..... and you know they are treating you just like IMPORTANT people ought to be cuz you have to wait. No rave about their prices, but selection is topshelf. After my fourth visit, I threw in the towel. I walk a couple extra blocks to a place where the natives hang out and I only wait if even the back room staff are all helping up front. I think it is set up for tourists, upper 1%. No senior discount. No Compassionate Use.
Veeery frou frou chic in there! Doorman was very polite and accommodating while signing up for membership. Menu was very well tailored and categorized for different symptoms and taste. Felt like it was the crème de la crème of all clinics! However, I did received a hint of snoot from the guy working the front. Maybe I wasn't using all the proper dictionary terminology to describe what I was looking for but, he ended up getting me exactly what I needed. Rushed was how it felt.. either way, 4 stars for location, product, and ambiance!
I have to say that this is one of the best clubs I've been to. I am talking about the new location on Lombard Street. I had the honor of being the first customer ever at this location. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful there was a warm family vibe in this location. I currently work right down the street I recommend this location to everyone in the neighborhood. It was quick and easy and there were not too expensive either. I wish the new owners of this location the best of luck and welcome to The neighborhood.
Just wanted to say again how great the customer service is for this business. I recently received a delivery order, and realized a few days later that one of the items, a vaporizer cartridge, turned out to be faulty. I called the store and told them, figuring I would have to go into the store myself to exchange it. Nope, they sent a driver right out to me with a replacement cartridge and a couple of free small edibles for the trouble. There are so many dispensaries to choose from in this city, but Apothecarium has all of my business as long as they keep up this level of service.
Good variety, but their online business needs help. I placed a delivery order Friday, before I placed the order, the system said it would be 30-60 minutes. This would be plenty of time to get the order and then meet up with friends before the Giants game. Once I placed the order, the system said it would be 3 hours before I got my order. There was no way to cancel the order online. What the.... I immediately called to change it to pick up since I could jump off Muni and be back on my way in minutes. I got the dreaded voicemail when I called. Nobody called back. For all I know, it's still sitting in their VM box. I still haven't gotten a call back or an email offering even an apology. The delivery girl apologized and knew about the wait time, but was quite shocked when I told her no one was answering the phone or checking voicemail or the issues with the baseball game. She was told when she picked up her latest batch of orders, to not even try to take a break unless he had to go to the bathroom (BTW, they probably owe most of their employees a double time meal per California law, labor code 200,). I had to eat $70 in game tickets, miss the game and my friends, and then wait the 3 hours to get my pot. If this ain't service, I don't know what is?
I have been coming here for a long time, and because I am elderly, I relied on their delivery service. However, the minute cannabis became legal for everyone, this business switched to a delivery service called Blackbird, which is essentially unnavigable for me. In frustration,on Saturday last, I drove across town because I was unable to register or sign in with this Blackbird. In the Castro dispensary, I met five other individuals who were unable to work with Blackbird as well. There are a jillion other dispensaries in town, none of which use Blackbird, and both I and my newfound friends have decided to stop using the Apothecarium principally because of this. Blackbird only accepts cash, and as I try not to do business with sketchy services with which I am nort familiar like this, you've pretty much lost me, even though Blackbird is largely to blame. And it seems, five other people all in one day. The Castro dispensary personnel begged me to write this review because they say, and I believe it given my own experience, Blackbird is impossible. The staff knows it; the owners must know it although the staff says the owners ignore them; the prices are now out of control and I have experienced 3 occasions on which the merchandise I received was not as advertised in terms of quantity or quality. It is very disappointing after all this time, and though I will miss the personnel, I won't miss the experiences that have soured me and apparently others on this business. Use a delivery service a bit less suspect, or you WILL be losing more customers through no fault of theirs. Sorry, but enough is enough.
Great spot, knowledgeable staff, a lil pricey but a great selection. Love the wallpaper. Got some chocolates and free joints for my first time. Happy 420!!!
This is one of the most offensive clubs in California. They sell moldy and spider-mite infested weed for + 40 dollars that causes nausea once smoked rather than relieving it. To make it even harder to stomach, they present it in the most pretentious, over the top way with exotic and extremely corny descriptions for weed that is hardly smoke-able. The last time I smoked weed like this was when I bought an oz. for 20 dollars from a crackhead in Indiana. Please do not hurt your soul and lungs by coming here. DO NOT BELIEVE the good reviews. They have a lot of posh, but no Kush. Trust me, go somewhere else. Even if your convinced the last place you went to sold you the worst weed you've ever had in your life , please don't prove yourself wrong by coming to Apothecarium.
The best dispensery in the city if you ask me. They are pretty pricey but it's worth every penny. Their cheap stuff is top quality. And they have two great deals that keeps me coming back. Spend 85 $ and recieve a free pre roll or edible. And a point system and once you reach 800 a free 8th or 55 $ credit. The staff their is extremely friendly paitent and helpful and know exactly what they're talking about. They're also very orginized and the place seems to be running smoothly at all times.
AMAZING. I work in the financial district around 2nd street and my usual dispensary is Green Door. I have now become a customer of The Apothecarium not only because of the product they sell but their POLITENESS and PROFESSIONALISM is what drives me to go all the way to church and market before heading all the way back to the east bay. The associates are ALWAYS warm and welcoming here way more than any other place i have been, especially Green Door. A+ service.
Great place, beautiful Decour , educated staff. I have seen them service other people besides means doesn't matter what your budget is they will find the perfect product for you. Although this is more of a price your place in the city, you pay for quality product and wonderful overall experience . Good business model and Great culture !
Of all the dispensaries in the city, I think this may have the best location! SO easy to get to on the muni, and it's right there by the corner of Church and Market. The registration process was quick and easy, though I must say that the membership agreement was the most unusual I have ever seen (there were a lot of business-related items in the contract regarding the company that manages the dispensary, most of which has nothing to do with medical cannabis laws. It's weird, read it).I don't usually like atmosphere to be a major component of my dispensary reviews, but I wouldn't be doing the place justice if I didn't mention the fact that the interior is gorgeous. The only way to describe it is elegant. The motif is black and white, and when you order, you sit at a beautiful marble countertop with hand-held paper menus and magnifying glasses on it. I must admit, I am in love with the interior design of this place, but all I am interested in are medicine quality, menu organization, and budtender service/ knowledge. The menu organization is just as elegant as the decor: a laminated paper menu with 2 pages of edibles, 2 pages of flowers (divided into indica, hybrid, and sativa), and another page or two for topicals and pre-rolls and stuff. The flowers on the menu all have beautifully-written short descriptions which describe both the taste and the effects/uses, and of course list the pricing as well. I think this was the best cannabis shopping experience I have had-- it felt like fine dining-- and I recommend it to new patients and connoisseurs alike. As a die-hard indica user (insomnia, anxiety), I was VERY pleased by the fact that they placed OG Kush in the hybrid category and wrote "Despite its name, this strain is not a 'Kush' although it does possess some Indica traits." This is something you would NEVER see in LA (because they're retarded and think that having 100 kinds of OG is impressive), and something you rarely see in SF either because many dispensaries like Divinity Tree and Igzactly 420 like to list OG Kush [and its derivatives] as indicas, but they're just not useful for someone seeking a good indica effect. Finally, The Apothecarium does something I wish more dispensaries did: act like a pharmacy. Not only was the cannabis put into medicine bottles that say "medical cannabis" on the lid, but they put printed labels on the bottles that have the patient's name, strain name, weight, and the dispensary's phone number. Those bottles are then placed into a paper pharmacy bag-- like the kind you get from Walgreens, though it mentions Prop 215 and SB 420 on the bag-- and then they staple it shut with your receipt on the outside. LEGIT.Considering they have medicine optionsto work with ANY budget, the only thing I see as a "con" is the fact that sales tax is charged on top of the price and there are no signs or asterisks anywhere which indicated that to me before I purchased. SPARC does this too. If I were in their position, I would just include tax in the prices, or add a "prices do not include sales tax" notification on the bottom of every menu page.Shit, all that and I forgot to talk about the medicine :P I got some Hindu Kush crossed with Hindu Skunk, and some Granddaddy Purple. I haven't tried the GDP yet, but it looks amazing. As for the Hindu, it's great medicine at a GREAT price! Don't worry, I'm certain you'll like what you get here.PROS:* Excellent location; easily accessible by MUNI* Medicine options in various price ranges* Quality flowers rich in mature trichromes* Elegant, easy-to-understand menu* Discreet packaging* Very professional, helpful, and knowledgeable staff* Free edible for your first visitCONS* Tax is not included in the prices, and you don't find that out until you're purchasingEDIT 8.27.11: I went in yesterday, and the menus now say that purchases are subject to 8.5% sales along the bottom.
This place is great! It is the way a cannabis dispensary should be - friendly, knowledgeable, professional!! In spite of the couple of negative reviewers I have never had a bad experience or heard anything negative, homophobic or whatever by any of the staff - and I've been in there at busy times with a real diverse crowd.I can't say enough positive things about it!
this sucks.............you will not get stoned. buy something real, they need a slap on the hand/ hankie , do better GUYS/ GALS
I've been to lots of clubs and this place should be the model for everyone else as far as how to do things right.1) They weigh in front of you - surprising how many places don't do that.2) They handle the buds with tongs, not bare hands - NO ONE does this in the Sacramento area where I live.3) Super friendly staff4) Comfortable safe surroundings5) Top notch product and great selection. That's it. That's the 5 basic things every club should have & almost no club does for some reason.I have to especially single out Kelly as probably the nicest, sweetest, most helpful and knowledgeable and all around most delightful budtender I've ever experienced. Apothecarium, you better be appreciating this girl, because she is just awesome. Thanks Kelly and Apothecarium for a visit that put me in a great mood for the rest of the day - & that was before I even smoked anything.:)
Meds are good and the customer service is always top notch. Alex is the best! She's knowledgeable and always has a smile on her face, like she's got her own little inside joke going on all the time. i'd give 4 stars if it wasn't so expensive.
The new location and interior are a big improvement in terms of ambience, accessibility and comfort. My one real complaint seems to apply to many of the dispensaries these days, and only to a lesser extent to the Apothecarium, but it is a disturbing trend. The issue seems to be the increasing mercenary quality of the consultants, who can be more than a little brusque and seem hell-bent on getting you to buy and be gone as quickly as possible. This may be because they work on commission? I don't honestly know.Nevertheless, my last visit went well and the recommendations were excellent and the information provided was accurate and detailed despite being asked every 45 seconds, "Is there anything else we can do, or are you finished?" The service was not terribly personal and seemed a little grudging, but, when pressed, there's no doubt they knew what they were talking about and could cough up the goods. The two jokers at the front desk were amusing and competent enough, but they seemed to relish playing the role of the condescending hotelier/concierge a little too much. It was odd to see the "L.A exclusive boutique" attitude playing out on Market Street. If you can put up with a little faux snobbery, I continue to highly recommend the Apothecarium.
They have a fantastic selection and a very professional staff. They can answer valid questions and truly serve to educate their consumer.
HIGH class. That's the best way to describe this place in a nutshell, but if you care to know more, here's my breakdown:Pros:-really nice decor; spacious marble bar where you can comfortably make your selections (I felt like I was in a trendy jewelry store)-patient, courteous staff-really great selection of bud-bound menus-great website-cool packaging (choice of bag or bottle) & a custom labels-decent selection of sale-priced buds-great edible selectionCons:-8.5% sales tax not baked into the price-can be a tad expensive
I felt so comfortable here. I have been a member to another dispensary in the San Francisco area for about two years. I decided to try the The Apothecarium by chance and will only be using them from now on. Extremely professional.
An amazing menu of everything you could possibly want from a cannibus clinic. . . . . . . and so much more. The design of the space is very classy, spacious with quite an attention to detail. Very helpful and friendly staff.
I went here on a friends recommendation. I'm really glad I did. They are one of the friendliest and most efficient dispensaries I've been to. From walking in to being verified and put in the system to getting up to the counter, getting what I needed by very helpful friendly staff, i was out the door in 15 minutes. Very impressive. Nice atmosphere and quality product.
Visited from LA and came here. Wow socal dispensaries better step up their game! This was so professional and classy. Love that they aren't cash only.
The Apothecarium may be the best run club in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. It's partly owned and operated by A beautiful young woman who is at once a force of nature and extraordinarily focused on providing the most pleasant experience possible. The selection of medications is very broad and the pricing is reasonable. The staff is warm and friendly and everything is handled with great professionalism.Although parking can be a tad dicey - hey, it's San Francisco - the Apothecarium is a treat you really should try.
My usual place Medithrive essentially closed and went delivery thanks to threats from the man. Check in was painless and tops 5 min wait on early Fri. Next time check ins just show Cali ID. Very clean and professional, very individualized attention. Takes credit card, but no Amex. The magnifying lens is a great touch to see the quality of the buds! The menu really does look like a restaurant menu. ~7.2g weighed (1/4 oz) and ~3.7g weighed = (1/8oz)... I'm anal retentive scientist and actually was impressed to see the employee tared the scale to zero before each sample weight.... If the scale is not tared, may collect some resin weight throughout the day and your take home sample will be slightly light.Organic Jack Herer is my go to strain, here it was a 7 out of 10 for quality with a just average calyx to leaf ratio, great fresh piney scent was very clean. It's very easy for a grower to mess up Jack, very finicky with a long flowering time.J-27 rare sativa hybrid was impressive for the massive amount of trichomes had my mouth watering with the musky diesel like scent. My only slight annoyance was their consideration of Maui Waui as one of their top shelf, it's weak sauce THC is only marketable because of it's hippie and Hollywood movie fame. Not as extensive a menu, but very diverse in type and med effects, would have like to see some Durban Poison or White Widow for Sativa lovers like myself. Majority hybrids. Ate the free 2x waffle and was decent and chewy on empty stomach, for a 200 lb lard ass like me it was decent 30 min until effect and 2 hr linger. Light weights or first timers only eat half and wait 1-2 hrs then eat the other half sometimes there is a big delay especially if you ate a big meal 1 hr before or after dosing.Enjoy this place a lot, highly recommended. It's has a wine bar friendly vibe, very pleased and will return.
Definitely some of the nicest staff I've come across. Very classy attractive place. Not voting five stars since I've only tried one product.
Very, very, creepy place. I worked to pass 215, I've been going to dispensaries since 97, starting with Dennis Peron's 5 story place on Market. This is the first time I've walked in the door, was asked not only for my card (I've had one since the first ones issued by Dennis's club), but for my driver's license. I thought ok, this is weird, but what was weirder is that they scanned my driver's license into their computer using the strip on back. No one asked for permission to take my private info. The state card program explicity uses IDs only at the point of issuing the medical cannabis cards. I have a stack of doctor's recs going back years--no cure exists yet for my chronic, life threatening disease. Stealing someone's private information is NOT ok, and is not required by state or City laws. If you want to require this before I can access medicine that I have a legal right to, okay, but don't take my info without my permission. It makes me wonder who you're gathering info for. And, for the record, the club I'm been going to for over a decade on 10th Street was closed. It was spun directly off Dennis's club and understood the laws and the purpose of 215--to provide medicine to patients.
I want to live here. I wish they delivered. Best product in the city at reasonable to high prices. Highly recommend their edibles: gummies and chocolates. Their concentrates are great in terms of hash oil. I can't really buy wax here cuz its so damn pricey but I think price speaks to quality. The oil is definitely top notch. Their flowers always smell great but I no longer play in those fields myself. I wish I could go here more often, they're my favorite place!
I had the pleasure of visiting Apoticarium earlier this week and I am pleased to say they are hands down the most professional dispensary in San Francisco Area today. The medicine and customer service is exemplary to say the least. The Blackberry Kush is an amazing Indica selection with every flavor ranging from candied berries to pungent hashish. They also have a Foxfarm Sour Diesel that seemed particularly sweet and tangy. With all 8th's capped at $55 (plus tax) and very potent medicine going down all the way to $20 an eigth (plus tax) they really do have something for every budget and their $12/gram Mr Nice hash is an amazing addition to any joint or bowl and really makes less than $40 worth of medicine last quite a while. They have an awe-inspiring selection of edibles ranging from their tasty peanut butter cookies to their heavyweight 20 dose "White Crumpy Brownie" which according to their staff, is a must try for those with a high-tolerance to edibles. The medicine is also never pre-weighed and the staff has informed me on more than one occasion that the medicine they receive is organized and processed on a per-plant basis, meaning the Sugar Grand Daddy Purple you bought 2 weeks ago will be identical to if you bought it today. If not only better cured and aged. They also give you the choice of a medicine jar or ziploc bag to take your medicine home in.The venue is perfect with a very affordable smoke shop located around the corner for all of your smoking accessories, not to mention Dolores park is an easy 5 minute walk. I have brought every patient I know to Apothicarium to introduce them to the way a collective should operate and I hope you have a chance to visit them and see the great service they offer!!!!!
Super clean, staff is awesome and helpful, they don't judge and seem like they really want to help you. It's treated like a pharmacy as it should be. I have gone to other dispensaries and this one is by far has the best staff and is most professional. The only little issue I have is almost every time I go I have to wait a little while. But it's worth the wait
The guy at the front desk was super nice and helpful. He couldn't get ahold of my doctor's office, but never stopped trying. The guy who helped me out was very patient with me. It was my first time there (second time in a dispensary) and I had a lot of questions. He was very helpful and I related to him because he had some of the same health issues I do. Very cute interior.
This gorgeous, upscale dispensary was more than I could hope for as a first-timer. The initial check in was fast and unintimidating. It was similar to checking into a hotel. I sat on a sofa for a few minutes looking at their menu and feeling a little out of place, until I was called up to the counter. I was helped by a veeeeerrrry patient, kind young man who answered all of my newbie questions in an authentic, professional, non-judgemental manner. I was super impressed and would highly recommend this dispensary to everyone. Thank you!!
On the sidewalks of Market Street, between Castro and the Mission, the streets can be bustling at times. A slew of city shops with customers so busy with our inner city lives, that when we come across a place like the Apothecarium, it makes us stop for a second. Attraction on the eyes. Chandelier drops down before the modern bar top directly in front. A wallpaper backing plays with the interior tangible products. Whoever the interior decorator was, my compliments pleaseThe doorman on the left hand side will gladly check you in. Be seated up the ramp to your right and take a glance at the menu for today. All products have a detailed description with recommendations for each section. The customer service is fixated so each transaction is personal between the two. The tenders can even weigh out to your liking instead of the 3 usual weighs. Friendly conversation. Swift. A credit card transaction is allowed. The products itself are top of the list. Each one bringing their own magic to you while caring for your health and body.First class to The Apothecarium. Professional, excellent customer service, and experience. I'll spread the word and vouch for you.
...have been here three times. ...like the ambience, the professionalism of its staff, and the product overall. ...will be returning when I need to.
I stopped in while visiting San Franciscoand wished I had not. This is the future.Amazing set up and wonderful service.I no longer live in SF so that's why I wished I never stopped in because they raised the bar so high my local place back home pales in comparison.Seriously do your business here.
Big Fan. Recently went there for the first time because they had something I specifically needed, and I was impressed with their system, location, staff and selection. I may never be able to say or spell their name correctly, but I know that I want to go to the "British word for pharmacy" Well done.
Since high school to about my mid 20's I had like 10 pagers numbers of random dealers that would deliver at all times of night and day. Nowadays I can't find a local dealer to save my life and it's not middle school where I didn't care about quality where I would just go to Dolores Park or height street. As of recent I really feel Like cannabis clubs did away with local dealers so my only option was to get a card and conform to get my smoke on which I reluctantly did. my experience getting the card was actually pleasant but finding a club wasn't. I tried the cannabis delivery service but the bud was not very good so I finally decided to find one of the higher rated clubs on yelp near me and I found this one, first off I was very happy with how amazing the appearance was simple layout but nicely lit and good amount of sitting, but I was more impressed by there customer service every bud tender not sure of the name I've had help me made every single experience very pleasant. Very polite and very patient. As quality of bud goes I'm pretty snobby when it comes to bud because growing up I was all about the the local sf rap group rbl song, don't give me no bammer weed. That pretty much set my standard for weed smoking. I notice allot of transplants to sf not all could smoke a bag of bark and notice no difference ha not me I'd rather not smoke than smoke stupid weed and the apothecarium has the chronic. Sometimes a strain I loved the first time the 2nd time it wasn't as chronic but just smell it if you can't figure it's good or noT stop smoking. Thanks guys you run a tight shift have great employees from the door folks to the bud tenders. The girl who always has the fly nails with glasses super cute and the guy with beard who looks like a teddy bear I always enjoy and when those 2 help me because they are so awesome those 2 should get raises or free weed or both.
I went here and they took care of me, awesome staff. Free edible for new customers. Excellent buds, high quality (except the $5 melange pre-rolls), but also high prices. I will be back because they are close to home, but I can't afford to shop here too often. Thumbs up for the 2X gingerbread cookie, Clouds Rest (sativa, $215 an ounce) and Pineapple hash ($17 a gram). Plus there was tax on everything, which I guess most places do. Now that I am in their system next time I go I only have to bring my driver's license, not my recommendation, which is nice. I love the wallpaper here btw. Anyways, summary, great place if you're rich, top notch buds, lovely staff, prices are too high for my cheapass.
Most easy-going and friendly staff around the Bay area. Flowers are always great looking and the weight is always friendly. Edibles, there's a large selection and they carry a bunch of alternatives. Also, for what it's worth, the decor is nice and the place stays pretty clean. My favorite spot for sure.
So I came to this location about 3 days ago and wanted to see if the location holds up to its yelp status. The inside is nice and the employees are friendly. Sence this was my first time I was only purchasing a small amount to get me through the past few days. Straight to the point I purchased the black magic hybrid (1.10grams) for a meer 16 or 17$. The fist bowl I packed wound up tasting real funky. Not a good dunk either. I taped out the bowl and found a seed! I figured it was some kinda freak accident sence I have never found a seed in any bag I have ever purchased from all of the clubs I have been to. To say the least I found 2 more seeds in my gram that I purchased. I for one smoke due to headaches from a tumor in my eye. The seed smell didn't help at all and the bad taste mad it that much more ubareable. They would get more stars but it seemed to me like they push bad/unclean product to their customers and don't inform them of anything wrong with the merchandise they sell. If I was told I was buying a bag full of seeds I would have gone else where.
This place is awesome, with great people working the counter and door. Great flowers and edibles. Years ago in the bad old days, my friends were dying. In desperation, I would buy pot from the guys at Dolores Park, usually getting ripped off. I dreamed of a place like the Apothecarium. Clean, Quality, Safe. Many, many blessed thanks to everyone at Apothecarium.
The experience is totally different from any pot club I've been to before. Every one adresses you by name, the space is beautiful, and the system they have for dealing one on one with clients is great. I have never felt even a little rushed or uncomfortable. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable (as well as easy on the eyes) and they usually end up throwing in a free edible, which is always a nice surprise. This place is raising the bar, honestly, the best customer service i have ever received at any local business, i look forward to my next visit.P.S. Common sense etiquette, going to the pot club is not a social outing, dont bring you friends so you can yell about how "dank" and "weedy" the medication is. This is a one on one experience.
Friendly staff, nice location but this place is definitely style over substance, in an industry where substance is much more important than style. The weed was super average and made me sneeze a lot, an allergic reaction I get from low bud that hasn't been prepared properly. I never get this from bud at the love shack.
I've gone to this place a few times but it's been over a year, each time they had high grade products but limited in the varieties.
Best dispensary in SF. Modern, upscale, very organized and professional. Extremely nice and patient employees. 5 star customer service, 5 star products. No complaints.
Very clean and welcoming, very knowledgeable budtenders, very professional. One thing that is great as well is that they don't allow people in with ball caps so there's really no punks in there. This is for sure a higher end club with decent prices and the staff really does care and it shows. There medicine is top notch, there edibles are great as well as there Tinctures. I highly recommend them!
I've only been here once, but this is probably one of the best dispensaries in the Bay Area. Great decor and very friendly and warm people who work there. They have great high quality products, and the only drawback is that some of the medicine is a little pricey. If I'm ever in the mood to splurge again, I would definitely go back.
my dad passed away today.came here. they were closed.knocked on the door, and they let me be the last customer, without having known bout my dad.Jamie helped me at the bar.Told her bout my dad...Jamie was just all heart...I will support this dispensary from now on, just because of my experience with Jamie...and of course, the quality products, of which I am currently partaking as I write this review...Thanks Jamie...you honestly don't know how much I appreciate your kindness.
So I've been coming to San Francisco for years to see old friends and enjoy the city. We always go catch up at our favorite eateries, cruise a little in wine country and up until now- pop into the best cannabis shop in S.F. for the Maui. This trip though we were confounded- what? No Maui? I guess next time I'm going to have to head for the source and vacation in Hawaii. I'd still recommend The Apothecarium, it is simply the best shop at what it does- it just needs to have Maui again please!
this place has everything going for it : GREAT staff, good location, selection, edibles, you name it.but what it doesn't have is medical grade marijuana.go to emmalynn's and compare the weed side by side. i've tried every sativa at apothecarium and here's what i got: takes way too many hits which produce a cough, soot in my phlegm and NO real high.same strain at emmalynn's = one hit, mind clicked in, all good.and it's cheaper. so even though apothecarium is in my neighborhood, i'm going downtown. and this is sad because the staff is ideal and they run the place perfectly. zero complaints, but crap weed.oh, and for the record, i thought medithrive had a lot of crap weed, too. very hit and miss, imo
I thought this place was great. As a newbie, I was comfortably walked through the process, strains, etc. No pressure, just a nice attitude and a lot of knowledge. I will definitely be going back. Perhaps a little more pricey than others, but you get the service and product you pay for.
This review is written on behalf of my mother. My mom is in her 60's, battling cancer for the second time, and we FINALLY convinced her to get a card to help with chemo's side effects. Mom is pretty old school and held the belief in her head of dispensaries being a seedy place, filled with creeps. I'm SO glad I found The Apothecarium on Yelp and was able to bring her to a place that closer resembles an upscale lounge. Mom's first dispensary experience couldn't have gone better. She was thoroughly impressed with not only the ambiance, but the knowledge of the employees. You guys completely, and I mean 180 degrees, changed her mindset on dispensaries. She had her chemo treatment on Thursday, and for the first time since battling two types of cancer, is actually sleeping through the night, relaxing, and enjoying a meal. I seriously can't thank you all enough for creating such an incredibly welcoming environment for newcomers. If you have a friend or relative on the fence about trying out a dispensary for treatment, definitely make The Apothecarium your first timers stop.
This place is awesome, stopped in for some Medz today. The prices are right up my Ally
Holy snap are these guys awesome. Always have a great selection. Clean. Fast. Very kind and friendly to their patients. Not cheap, but not too pricey... I'd say the price is right b/c the service & product are top notch! Best quality is the people that work there, they make all the difference.
Friendly staff here who are helpful. I've asked for suggestions and they let me take a look at the flowers. I like the fact that they weigh right in front of you. None of these pre-package business so you know it's fresh. They do charge tax, but it's still a fair price for what you get. Also, the pre-rolled joints over here burn slow. Slower than what you can find at other dispensaries. You'll definitely get your money's worth.
customer service and friendliness - 5 starspresentation and avail - 4.5 starsatmosphere - 4.5 starspotency of medicine - 2.5-3, go to harborside if you want kill, this place was awesome and friendly, but their nugs are not up to par, honest honest honest
In my opinion Apothecarium is hands down the best club in this city. People are always telling me they're over priced and I can find cheaper flowers or whatever elsewhere but if you go anywhere else you're not going to get the same knowledge & service from the staff & you're also not going to get as top quality marijuana. Nothing bothers me more than going into a dispensary and getting treated like I'm just some pot head, everyone who works there doesn't treat it like medicine and knows nothing about it. I never ever have experienced any of that in this dispensary and out of every club I have been to in Southern California, Sonoma, & the Bay Area this is the only club where I had every single staff member have incredibly extensive knowledge about medical marijuana and also educate me to help me figure out what will work best for me. That is something I really appreciate about this club and is the number one reason why I go there. The second reason why I go there is because I am very allergic to molds, fungus, pollens, pesticides, etc. And they actually test all of their products and you know the percentage of the different things in marijuana that help for different aliments. Lastly, their customer service is beyond amazing. Everyone who works there always has a smile on their face and has good energy. Plus you get the vibe that they all truly want to help you get better. Besides selling amazing marijuana products they also offer a variety of free educational classes, group meetings, yoga classes, and etc for their patients. I personally believe that all clubs should be like Apothecarium with their knowledge, packing, testing, and custom service but unfortunately they're not.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY OVER PRICED and they've had the same strains for months and months now.............Green Cross in the mission has $35 1/8s and its just as good quality as here. if not better....Also Green Cross has twice the selection and they have at least a new strain everyday.....Quality stuff.....It probably sounds like i work here, haha...but im just so excited about finding this place...Ive been visiting clubs in the city for 16 yrs, so i know what im talking about...
I'm new to the world of cannabis clubs, and The Apothecarium is the first place I visited. Thank god too. The setup is super cool. The employees are all very friendly and knowledgeable. You don't feel judged if you don't spend $200 at a time. Their selection is pretty decent. I wish they had more Indica strains, but the Indicas they do carry are awesome (Chemdawg 4 being my favorite). It sucks that they charge sales tax, but it's not that bad given the quality of their products. Their edibles are also out of this world and not terribly expensive. They are easy to get to via public transportation. I wish they delivered.
I was so shocked to read the negative reviews after visiting this dispensary. The Apothecarium offers nothing short of a fantastic experience. Why drive to some sketchy area of the Mission or Soma, when you can easily park (literally, street parking is abundant) in the sunny Castro and stroll into this small, but chic, pharmacy to discuss beautiful flowers with highly knowledgeable staff? I agree that the edibles are excellent. The entire experience is just totally civilized.
I went to the Apothecarium because I was sick of the horrible customer service I was getting at SF's supposed leading dispensary that delivers. I was welcomed with open arms and found them all to be very happy and knowledgeable. I was given a free edible and a pre-roll on my first visit and was amazed that they were all so in touch with the surrounding community and actually provide services like Yoga and a Veterans support group which I have not heard offered by any of the other dispensaries in the area. I was even given a 10 percent discount for my service to this country which is awesome! It is not a flat rate per strain so you pay different prices depending on the strain however, the flowers are amazingly manicured. Everybody knows your name at the Apothicarium and you are not treated like just a number. The fact that they offer other services just shows that they care about their client and their community. Anyone who has said anything bad about this place must have been having a bad day as this is the most community conscious dispensary I have been in and the staff is by far the most friendly!
A very classy dispensary, I like this place quite a bit and go often. They are a little pricey however.
Just the other day I was visiting the Apothecarium and thinking about how every time I'm there the staff is smiling, warm, and welcoming. I've been a customer since they first opened, and their operation just continues to improve. They offer cutting edge products and make sure their customers are fully satisfied. Decor is pleasant (though I'm not fond of the faux crystal fixtures), and the art work on rotation is plenty to keep you occupied if there's a wait. The menu gives clear details about the products on offer, and the staff will make sure you get your questions answered if you need more info. It's really the people who work there who make it such an inviting atmosphere and pleasurable place to be.
Great place! They've got a nice menu for you to look over as your waiting to be called and a very chill atmosphere. A girl named Alex helped me and was very friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to make sure I knew exactly what I was purchasing. I got two different edibles and a freebie (first-timer) and Alex broke each down for me so I knew exactly how much to take and what to expect. She even taught me something I did not know - dairy products enhance the effect of edibles. This explains why I've usually felt like I ingested too much (I drink a LOT of milk). Now I know. ;)
Well, everything is still good. I went today to buy 2 containers of wax and was given a lollipop freebie. I hope it continues. I want the owner to know that even when I wasn't given a freebie the times I spent more than $85, I still continued to buy from them because they have a great selection and high quality products. I didn't want to say anything about the freebies because I didn't want it to be awkward because I continue to buy from them.
When going around attempting to find raffle prizes last minute for our beer bust to support the 2011 AIDS walk, Apothecarium came through in a big way. They gave us a voucher for 50% off a purchase of $50 or more to help.
my main complaint is the price and atomsphere. the lambs bread is fucking awesome, but for 60 an 1/8th youll be lucky to see me in there twice a year. man these clubs have to get with the times. people arent going to regularly pay 60 an 1/8 when some places sell quarters for 65$. the budtenders are cool, but the door staff are a bunch of creeps ....YOU RE A DOORMAN creep, get over yourself...best to go during non peak hours, because this place blows when a crowd gathers
I signed up as a new patient a few weeks ago and was pretty impressed with the cleanliness of the place. I used to collect stamps so I liked the wall art and everyone I talked to (3 people in all) asked me if I was a new patient and I said yes. I told them that I just stopped in to sign up and someone said "next time you come in I will 'set you up' ".A couple of days latter I was at the ASA meeting and one of the female employees was there promoting the Apothecarium and she told the group that they have an incentive for joining, ie a free edible. I never received a free edible for joining and told her that everyone knew that I was a new patient when I signed up but nobody offered anything to me but the promise of making good on the offer "the next time". Maybe they were all sold out of edibles at the time, Im willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. The woman at the ASA meeting told me that if I come in on Fridays when she worked she would make good on the offer. The other day I went in to make my first purchase and sure enough the same Woman was there and I made it known that I didn't get my free edible for joining. I made my purchase and was given a choice of free edibles and chose some kind of waffle thing with caramel and chocolate.
Very knowledgeable budtenders. I like the magnifying glass available to look at medicine with. I also enjoy sitting down at the counter, looking at a menu and not being rushed to choose. I tried the lambsbread after it was suggested to me. It is very high quality and I am happy with it. I have been there three times now and I will continue going. It is very professional. The location is very convenient being right off J at church and market. I look forward to more more good experiences.
Awesome place! Great service - Educated folks with good advice. Great medicine - Try the Dutch Treat or Agent Orange if you want some special. Super reasonable donations for concentrate (14 -40ish from coldwater to amber glass). Although parking can take a minute (or two) to find - totally worth it once you are inside. A must try for those seeking a personal experience, the staff will take the time to answer any questions you might have. I am in love with the Americann Gummies they carry! SO POTENT!
Very friendly and professional. It's actually a pleasant process. I knew nothing about how selecting medicinal cannabis worked, the clerk was super knowledgable, patient, friendly, and efficient. The doorman/screener was diligently monitoring who was let in and holding people outside until there was seating available, but he was still welcoming to legit customers -- not an easy job, he was handling it well. Verification and reception staff fast and friendly. I'm baffled by some of the excessively negative reviews here. I would recommend.
Hmm. Happened upon this lovely place upon a visit to Chow one day. Stopped in with my Doc's authorization in hand. Although I have been using this auth. at many dispensaries around town for a few years, this was the first time I was asked for some sort of special number that apparently wasn't listed on the form. I was genuinely confused and said I had never heard of it before. The staff seemed suspicious. As it was lunchtime for my Doctor's staff, they couldn't be reached at the time. I later called them myself and asked if they had ever heard of this mysterious code. Nope. Truthfully? I never returned because of this. Had a bad feeling about my *own* suspicions that I was being thwarted/blown-off - and don't know why! Was it because I didn't have an actual card? They'd never seen me before? I'm female? Not upper-class? Oh well, moving on ...
I just stopped by to pick up some mid day green to put a little pep in my DownSouth BDay step. Of course today would also be that one time I would forget the name of the stellar budtender from which I received superb service. I don't know yo name bruh but the bud is always top quality and I appreciate the classy personnel.
Born & razed in Kailua town on the island of Oahu & razed around already amazing herbals greener then the Ninja Turtles from birth but The Apothecarium blows away thee other 5 SF dispenseries I've visited, the Apothecarium is my favorite dispenseries in all of SF & I've looked. Loved Oaklands Harborside but the personal help & mind blowing flowers/buds thee Apothecarium hands down is thee all in one stop shop for top of the line Medical Grade marijuana & that tincture with 80% CBD w/20% THC is one of thee greatest things this side of the Milky Way. Yes, it's that good, along with the store & the amazing people who a real personalities that complement an even more impressive assortment of thee greatest herbs I've ever had in all of the world, 2 passports filled by 22, so I know :)It's been my 9th time going back & after experiencing there style of what they do, I really have no want now to venture out after finding the best.
I was in a monogamous relationship with The Vapor Room until the Feds shut it down, and I found refuge at The Apothecarium. I absolutely love it here. They have a wonderful selection of plants, hash, edibles, and almost anything you can imagine. The budtenders are helpful and some, like Josh, are especially awesome. Almost all of their plants are tested, so you know how much THC and CBD you're getting. It's a wonderful shop.
Today was my 1st time coming to Apothecarium and the staff at the front door were very friendly. The bud tender that helped me was very knowledgeable, and recommended a strain that I was looking at on the site and I that helps me relax at night and told me about the strain and was also recommending other strains that would be helpful for me.I wish I had more money for my 1st visit but the next time I go there I will so I don't have to drive back and forth from San Mateo a lot in the week.
I can't believe I haven't discovered this place until recently. It is hands down probably my favorite dispensary in SF! (Only bad thing is that you can't smoke in there :( ). The staff are all very friendly, the weed is great, and the decoration is pretty sweet too.
Hey Fellow Patients!! I have found a great New club at 2095 Market! Its Called Apothecarium and I must admit they Have Impressed me! Great Medicine(i've tried the Mango Wreck and the Durban poison so far) The Mango wreck was very good for pain and the durban was great for my insomnia! If you are a first time visitor you get a free cookie!! and these cookies are made from cannabis oil, not butter and are stronger as a result! Keep up the good work!
Some very good products! I would definitely suggest trying this place. I was very impressed with there service also. Very professional!
I went here for the first time over the weekend and was completely blown away! The space is great and the staff was both friendly and professional. I'm pretty sure I asked them the same stupid questions they get asked all of the time, but they were great - taking the time to talk to me and make sure I was an informed consumer. The prices were reasonable - despite the fact that the place had a very "premium" feel. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience there.
Dude, seriously...friendliest staff I've ever encountered at a dispensary. I love this place!
This place is amazing, I was extremely nervous and excited after getting my card and was glad to visit this place for my first purchase. Upon arrival, I had to hand over my card to have it checked out. Their menu is amazing with a range from edibles to a strain called The Sarah Silverman Smile. I loved this place and will go there the next time I need to make a purchase. Employees were extremely professional and polite and even through in a few free edibles due to it being Pride weekend this weekend. I highly recommend it to everyone I know who has a card.
This place is fabulous and I will definitely be back! The staff were extremely polite, compassionate, professional and all around fantastic. The ONLY complaint I can think of, is that tax is not included. It's a bit tricky when you're trying to figure out if you have enough money for meds. But it's nothing to make a fuss over, no biggie. What matters is the staff and medicine are spot-on! Also, doesn't hurt that the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. They have done a fantastic job at keeping a great staff, appearance and fine quality medicines. The young guy that helped me out at the counter was very helpful, attentive and made my transaction very smooth. The woman who helps sign you up for the collective, was very kind & helpful. I love this place and will be back!
Clean. Affordable. Professional. Trendy. Enormous Variety of Products. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. We love getting e-mail flyers explaining the newest deals being had at our favorite Apothecary!
This place is OK. I got a free pre-roll on my first visit.I wish they included tax in their prices and make it even so I don't get change back.. but I guess u can always toss that in their tip jar.
This place is as good as it gets. I've been to so many clubs, and the service here is just amazing. It COULD get a little more expensive for the flowers, but damn it's so worth it. The service is amazing here, I love the staff here. I can honestly hold a conversation with a worker here and it not be a drag, just waiting until I get my medicine. I don't know how lucky it is that I get, but I always get the budtender Sean, and that guy is the BOMB. This place also has a big selection of edibles, pretty decently priced too. This is one of the places with the biggest selection of edibles that I've been to. 10/10 Would definitely keep going. This is my GO-TO place, and it's also a plus that I don't have to go to downtown every time I want to buy my meds, it's in such a convenient place (for me). It definitely has the medical grade that another review says it doesn't, but like I said it IS a little more expensive, but overall worth the extra few bucks.
This place is super rad. My favorite in the city, actually. I always have an awesome experience and today was no differe.t The female working was really nice and hooked it up with a 3.7 eighth, which was lovely. Along with that, she gave me a free edible and the "meds" are really potent. I would certainly check it out.
probably the best cannabis joint Ive been to! super clean, which I love!!! They are highly organized and the workers there are very knowledgable..love how they have seats and a menu to browse through. super chill..just like how it should be. I also like the diversity of this cannabis club...will be back! Oh and first timers get free edible!
Unwelcoming experience for me (and I was just accompanying a friend). Perhaps the staff are knowledgable and friendly but I wasn't allowed to stand or speak in this place. (sounds like taking away my 1st amendment rights. Hmmmm). After asking the security guard (Matt) if I could accompany my friend inside, I was told yes, but I would not be permitted to discuss medications or speak at all with the staff at the counter. Odd I thought, but I respect the rules in any given establishment. I took a seat while my friend completed some initial forms. When we stood to approach the counter for consultation, the security guard literally barked at me: "Sir, I need you to sit down! I've already told you this several times!" At first I just stood there literally shocked at his tone but then I went over to him. He continued to say that he could not allow me at the counter to discuss medications. What!? Who said I was going to discuss medication? I decided to leave and wait outside instead. I reminded him that simply because he addressed me with words like 'sir' and 'please', he was still being rude and inappropriate. Needless to say, he doesn't realize that anyone walking in the door is a potential customer. So, beware if you're accompanying a friend inside. Matt will violate your right to speech and other amendments.
I still live in this neighborhood and tried to pop in here tonight as their quality has gotten a bit better in terms of usually now there are 1 or 2 strains that are pretty good. Prices are still high but I started going to their meditation class to get a 20% discount coupon so that makes buying here more attractive. So tonight it's poring down rain and there's a line outside. I'm in line with a few others when the doorman tells us that the doors close at 8 and not everyone will get in. What ? There was a girl behind me in line who went to ask the doorman what that meant - ie - you're going to have us stand in line and then not let us in ?- and he replied to her that " Yep, It's like last call at the bar" with his bizarre dope dealer doorman as God attitude. She pointed out to him that this was suppose to be a medical dispensary and not a bar and basically WTF and the guy was just a smug, idiotic asshole. We all ended up getting in but WTF in terms of customer service. Also, the doorass kept up with it even when we got inside telling the chick "the city is looking for any reason to shut us down." Really, dude ? I don't think the City gives a fuck. They are happy for the revenue. It's the Feds who will be coming for you and they won't be coming for you because you let the last 5 people in line come in at exactly 8 pm. Such bullshit from these people. Perhaps they don't understand the difference between the local and federal government ? Or perhaps this guy was just an ass. Either way, for the prices they charge - unbelievable the attitude.
The nicest shop, the friendliest staff, a seriously good selection, and prices that I haven't seen in well over a decade. This is by far, hands down, my favorite dispensary I've ever been into in the ten years I have been a patient.Although The Apothecarium is only a half block from my house, I would gladly go across town for these people. They have the best of intentions, are smart, friendly, down-to-earth and classy.
This place, and the Vapor Room (while it still had a storefront in lower height) are the best places in SF, IMO. I've been a smoker for 20+ years, this place has very fair prices (and much lower when it's for outdoor grown smoke, which is very fair as it produces so much more), a very good selection, and knowledgeable, fun, friendly staff. I drive 3/4 of the way across town, going past several clubs, to go here due to the good prices and very relaxed/pleasant/professional atmosphere. No druggies, also not a 'hippy' or hangout place at all. This place tends to get professional gay men, though all are certainly welcome.
good flowers, love the feel and the open air layout. Great selection but a bit pricey.
Knowledgeable friendly staff with a very professional attitude, nice location, decent selection and clean bright interior. Hopefully they expand to include tinctures soon.
Clean, cool, and organized! I just moved to the area and love coming here. Great selection, friendly and helpful staff. Check them out.
I love this place. I came here when they first opened. MY first thought was WOW classy place. It is just beautiful inside. You wold never know just looking from the outside. From once you walk in the floor to ceiling the bar and counter top and the nicely laid out menus. I Might be a bit over my head here. But never once did I feel that way once you walk in and start talking to people in there. You feel relaxed, comfortable, and not rushed. I've been back a few times but today I was really happy got a free jenny's j with my purchase. Nothing much has changed yet which is a GREAT thing. Having a sale once in a while so I can get some Top Shelf quality stuff for mid quality price is JUST AWESOME. Nothing broken or needs fixing NO changes needed. Very nice people in there that will take care of you and listen to you to help you get what you need best. They don't mind taking a few minutes to help get what you need. Look at the quality of their goods. It is on par with the best in SF for being a fairly new place. From their lower priced to the highest priced stuff. It is all worth what you are paying for. Quality for price is pretty fair. Yes some do cost a bit more but you really have to look at it before you complain. Because after you look at it you see the quality it has. I would love to come here more often but I don't live in the city anymore. Almost a half hour drive for me to get here. But still worth every penny. Though I did totally forget to ask them about the G stick right be4 getting rung up even though the marker board was right in front of me advertising it. ( face palm moment right lol ). Hope I remember to ask them next time since I use the electronic cigarette. The Apothecarium has not disappointed me yet. To all you wonderful people there thank you very much. One of my most favorite places if not the one in SF. Two thumbs up.
Very clean and organized. Super friendly staff. I loved it. They are my regular place to go to. got 1/2 o for 80 bucks! definately compassionately priced. Love love love them!
This place is completely solid! Huge selection of great flowers, friendly & knowledgeable staff, and comfortable settings.. I went for the first time on Saturday and was not disappointed! Thanks folks!
I am in need of some good medication after a long day at school, Im on my way :))
recently got my card, 2nd club i went after MediThrive (meh) and everything about this club is on point. i made this account to give them there props.-Location is Good-Welcoming Atomosphere-Dank Buds-Knowledge Budtenders-Great Price Rangeonly thing is the tax, that could get annoying when ya trying to get a lot of tree's.
I love this place! Great selection, great staff, nice atmosphere and it seems really legit. Also They now carry the Gold Star hash oil refills which are really good. I was using the gentelmans cartridge for a while and it never really did much, but these new ones with the gold star on it are the best I have ever tried. I highly suggest getting a vape pen and trying one of these new refills.
I came in to renew my membership have not been in here for almost a year and was very disappointed. I gave them my card and ID and waited to be helped, two other customers came in after me to renew there membership as well. Both customers were helped before me even though I came in roughly 10 to 15 min before them. The total wait was about 35 min and when they got to my paperwork they literally scanned my ID and MMC and pressed two buttons on a laptop why it would take 35 min too do this is beyond me. Then when I finally got to the counter I found there prices to be a bit high for the product they were selling. I ended up leaving with a pre roll that I payed too much for. Through this entire process I only got one apology for the wait and that was after waiting 35 min. I work up the street and would have been a returning customer if this hadn't accrued. All in all it was a very disappointing visit.
Been here once when I was visiting SF. They have a wide variety of selections from edibles to smoke up pre rolled joints. I loved the experience of mine where I was greeted by a pretty lady who took all my information and asked me to fill out a form to get sign up. And then my name was called we went to the counter the lady was super helpful she guided us and recommended different things based on our questions. I tried their a cookie and a pre rolled joint and costed me a total of 12$. I was stoned like super buzzed for 4-6 hrs. It was an experience. Overall loved their selections and will visit them next time I am in SF
This place used to have an amazing customer experience. Now, they make you pay with a debit card (pretty inconvenient) AND charge you $3 for it... WtF!
I think the space that now houses Apothecarium was a club/restaurant I used to drink in many moons ago. Sort of echoing a club atmosphere, the pot shop is fairly large and kinda snazzy. I don't mind the check-in process--you present your ID, then take a seat and wait to be called by name. I dislike crowds, so I've learned to avoid the place later in the afternoon on Fridays and entirely on the weekends. No matter how many times you visit, the person you're to buy product from walks you over to your spot at the bar, opens the menu, then walks around to the other side of the bar to meet with you across the counter. This is great if you're new, needing to peruse the menu yet again, have a ton of time/questions or don't mind standing for minutes on end. Staff are generally good and pleasant to exchange a few words with over a transaction. I have had the occasional doobie rip-eyed (I'm showing my age with that expression) worker, but that's a rarity, fortunately. *street parking is scant*accessible via Market St. streetcar, J-Church and various other Muni trains that run through Church St. station
I've come with two local friends over two separate occasions. As other Yelpers have mentioned, there seems to be a difference in service and experience based on how busy the store is. Furthermore, the guy my friend was working with during my most recent time in August mentioned that new regulations around packaging was causing a shortage of many items throughout the city. Despite these challenges, this location excels in making information clear and accessible to all types of audiences. Their menu is clear, but really talking with folks is very illuminating. No pressure to buy. Very down to earth. And I just love the modern, elegant aesthetic inside. Can this person come decorate my apartment?
Wes is the best delivery person! He is friendly and fast. Thank you Wes for making deliveries on a rainy day.
I was in the Bay area due to work and since weed is legal in CA, I decided to stop in. The lady at the front desk advised that we would have to register so that they can keep track of how much weed a person was allowed. It was 3 of us in all and the representative that called us back was light skinned with an afro. Very knowledgeable about the product. Informing us about the indica, balance and sativa. We ended up picking edible blueberry and some other kind of candy. I loved the way he broke down the difference between the different types.I cant wait until next time!
They are horrible in both products and service. They keep getting the same stuff that is low quality and bad attitude.
A friend of mine wanted to stop by here and so I asked a friend which location we should go to and they recommended this one and so we showed up. It was very surprising how organized and professional they were! I have never been to a place like this, it was modern, very cozy and eclectic, the person that helped us was very informative, asking question of what we wanted, why, when, examples to show us exactly what would work for us and what effects it would give us. Mind Blown! Such a great experience, I really liked that he seemed very educated on what they sold and wasn't like here, whatever, you know? Highly recommend.
I don't even recognize this place anymore. All of their bud was below 26% and they're charging $77 for that. Single pre rolls were 17$ plus taxes. No concentrates above 80% thc, didn't even look at the prices.Came in to buy a pen battery, an accessory which has no cannabis in it. The total was 24.96, which shows me it's 20$ but they're charging the full cannabis excise tax... for an item which has no cannabis in it.Hope you're giving that extra 3 and change to the BCC. And on top of that, a $3 debit transaction fee. We didn't buy the cannabis excised battery.
I love this place! The atmosphere is cool and I was impressed by the customer service! Budtender Dan was soooo awesome and helped me with my apothecarium vape pen that I didn't know how to work lol. Dan made me feel assured and comfortable by sharing a similar situation he had gone through that normalized the situation for me and I really appreciated that! It was a very efficient experience and everything I needed was in stock! I would highly recommend this place and the host at front was sooooo nice as well! Please do yourself a favor and go to the apothecarium in the Castro!!!! :)) Thank you so much apothecarium!
This is my favorite dispensary in the City. It has a good selection and good prices, and they have a great staff. I've had issues at other nearby dispensaries when I've had to return defective 510 thread cartridges, but these guys have never given me a problem.
While the store itself (Castro location) is convenient and the staff is exceptional up their knowledge of products sold. We explained what we were looking for and directed to several products. The pros and cons of each clearly explained. The issue we have is not with the store or staff, it’s the website. This is truly the worst possible website for a business. Navigation is abominable and still have never been able to pull up an actual menu of products s available. Who ever created this web portal was high at the time it was launched.
This place generally has very fair pricing on flowers, However this time after purchasing a oz of gdp smalls I noticed a very unpleasant taste that resembled mold a good taste also came through resembling the authentic flower terpenes. I feel this was a quality control accident or it what I hope...
Had a great time speaking with Roberto and he was extremely helpful! Had a good time just looking around and chatting. 10/10 store and absolutely lovely people, highly recommend.
Great customer service every time I've visited. Sometimes there's a line outside but if you order ahead, you'll have a short wait. Small amount of street parking out front. Bring your debit card or cash.
