I stopped by with two friends while passing by because I wanted to see if they carried products by my favorite brand. There was one customer in line, the bud-tenders were busy, and there were no menus that I could see anywhere. Before getting in line, I stepped to the side and tried to see what brands were on the shelves. The security dude YELLED ACROSS THE STORE at me "HEY, that guy's in line, you need to get in line." So I said "I'm just trying to see what you have..." and the guy barked about how that's not allowed and IMAGINE THE CHAOS if they *GASP* allowed customers to see if they even wanted to shop there. I don't allow men speak to me that way, so I left immediately. I would never patronize such a terribly run dispensary. I'll stick with Harborside in Oakland, where they are polite, helpful, and happy to let you browse. Avoid at ALL COSTS.

Is what it is, overpriced, uptight, and expensive. Suggest only buying Top Quality Flower, expect 65 an eighth or it's dry, and week at 50 an eighth. I would stick with the high quality flower. Buy the best or don't bother, just get an entire cheap oz. from a human. Gummies, that low potentcy stuff,  I never feel now that the State has made them so low in MG, THC, kids stuff. So, I only buy top shelf flower. No Old School, reasonably priced Hash anymore at all. Just overpriced Wax,etc. Everything else is for Squares with $ to burn. I go  because it's so close. If you knowthe difference between indica and sativa you don't have to ask for any help.

These guys suck.  Their customer service rep can't even spell correctly, to say the least about how shady this joint(hehe) is.  This business is like the fool who moves from the Burbs to the TL and pretends to be hard.  More like 'Burb Roots, bitch.  I'd rather go to Safeway and buy some Nutmeg to smoke than shop at your dispensary.

They have to leave the TL ...If you don't take care of your customers or treat them with respect a the front door this business has to close...

Wow!! The worst customer service before I even entered the store...I didn't see the line and the door guy first screamed at me to get in line, and then told me to never touch the door at places like this... you're a weed shop. Chill out.Safe to safe I did not even enter and will never go back. Great customer service!

I'm dropping Grass Roots as my go to local dispensary. Their new online ordering system (Jane) is total and complete garbage and doesn't work. On top of that, their flower selection has become garbage. Buh, bye Grass Roots.

Find anywhere else to get your Cannabis. My last experience felt like I was buying illegal drugs from a corrupt cop selling drugs that were stolen. The flower I purchased was at least a year old, brown and zero terpene aroma. After texting w one of the managers, my experience was confirmed. No remorse no effort to resolve, just like a drug dealer. The excuse was, the package was sealed when we got it. Ha, how many successful retailers do you know who take that approach to customer experience? Right?Also a tell tale sign your dealing with a nefarious group is when they treat you with contempt. You are going out of your way to do business with them with all the choices available and they see you as a waste of their time, a personal inconvenience. Guilty on all counts.

I've ordered from Grass Root's a few times and they were super helpful.  I've ordered edibles a few times and I just recently ordered a few cartridges. I've never bought cartridges before and the gentleman that helped me was so nice and explained to me various types and what the effects were based on my needs. He suggested one that was on sale so I really appreciated that. He was so nice and patient and not condescending  at all. I love that they offer delivery for free too if your purchase is over $50. Every time that I've ordered, they have been able to deliver in an hour or less which is just amazing, I think. Thank you!

This place has gone way downhill recently. I used to put up with the rude staff because of the product, but the new menu system is horrible, their flower selection is now laughable and their prices are just ridiculous. I'm done. There's too many other good options in this city.

The service at this place was nothing short of disgusting. An African American male with clear-framed glasses working on the night of Halloween was rude, unwelcoming and a complete d*ck to my friend and I. If he was the only person working in that place I would never walk in again. Absolutely absurd. The worst dispensary experience I've had in 4 years in California. If your business is of any importance to you guys, getting rid of those NASTY attitudes would be amazing improvement. Nice weed selection though, just don't get service from that guy at least if you don't want to leave with an awful taste in your mouth. The taste of his utter bullshit. That's all.

I want to thank the staff for being very welcoming during my first experience here. We were greeted and directed to the budtender, Ashley was very helpful with answering all the questions I had. I appreciated all the help, also thank you to Breanna, she was very attentive and was a big help during my visit. This is now my go to spot! Big thanks to y'all!

I've been going to Grass Roots for a while now. The service behind the counter just gets worse with each visit. Terrible. They get orders wrong, they're impatient, heaven forbid you ask a question? Way too much attitude from the sales staff. Plus I think most of them are high. I will say the guys that check you in are very nice. I'll go to other dispensaries. I don't need attitude from anyone.

So, we're from Texas and this is nowhere legal there, but you can have a zillion guns. Makes sense, right? Anyway, I digress. We're in San Fran because my husband is having open heart surgery. He wanted to indulge in case he didn't make it. (He did!) Excellent staff, great product (according to him; I can't indulge as I'm a nurse!), and a friendly atmosphere. We'll definitely revisit if ever in the area.

I stopped by this place after a recommendation from a San Francisco native. He recommended me to try the edibles which include chocolate and gummies so I decided to give it a try!I'm not big on drug use at all but since I was in California, it's definitely an experience that I could not and should not miss.The place is pretty easy to miss (or maybe I'm just a noob so I couldn't tell). They have a "bouncer" outside the door as well as someone at the door to greet you. Once I arrived, I showed them my ID and the guy at the door was super nice! He asked me if it was my first time and gave me a little debrief about the place and welcomed me in. He made sure I was super comfortable!NOTE:They ONLY ONLY take cash so make sure you bring cash! They also have an ATM in the store in case you forgot.You then wait in line for a representative to help you at the counter. Once at the counter, you look through all their products on an iPad and the associate helps you with any questions you have. My associate was super helpful and very knowledgeable. Since I'm a noob I had no idea what anything was but she was very detailed and made sure I was aware of the products I was buying.I ended up getting a few "relaxing" chocolates along with some hybrid ones. Since I do have trouble sleeping I wanted to see if the relaxing ones would actually work. I also got a pack of gummies and ended up spending $45. I do think it's a great deal for the prices (at least for the edibles). Would definitely come back here again for the awesome service!

The best dispensary EVER! The kindness of Matt, xxo-the managers, the kindest and they are very ASTUTE with pain! They run out of items and might want to work on keeping steady products. The security people are so nice-- one guy put MONEY in the meter for us as regulars. They treat everyone with kindness and respect-- they treat ALL Genders equal! LOVE THIS PLACE, GRASS ROOTS a true healing place! We have a therapy dog and they treat him like a little person! What great people!

I got quite a few edibles from the shop today and am OVERLY satisfied with the results. Great flavor on all the products and perfect balance of highness for an avid smoker. Will be returning fur sureee!

I was just here. The lady with black hair couldn't exchange stativa for a different strand on the spot even though i just purchase it like one second ago. Go to another dispensary please.

Nuh uh.Guy at the door just now asked "are you a first time visitor?"  No, you jerk.  I've been coming here several times a week for over a year.  No, I don't want to stand in line on the sidewalk.  No, I don't want to make a stop at an ATM before I come.  No, I don't want to pay $16 for your cheapest pre-roll, because ALL the affordable joints on your online menu are suddenly "out of stock."  Listen:  everybody has their favorite clubs...for different reasons.  That's fine.  This one just doesn't make the cut for me.

Hey grass roots we didn't know that you guys hiring thugs at your place , you should've at least inform your customers about those thugs that you have

I came here with a friend of mine to check it out when I was visiting SF. I'm not sure if it's a San Francisco thing or not, but there seems to be no inside waiting areas for med shops. My friend had to stay outside on the curb while it was raining. Luckily she had an umbrella with her, but that was definitely not a good impression for me.Upon walking in, I thought the staff wasn't too friendly or customer oriented. They seemed pretty rushed and was not interested in making small conversation. But hey, that's okay. I'm only here for one reason. As a FTP here, they hooked it up pretty well. I got myself some Kiva Blueberries for $20 and they threw in a free lighter, pen, and a pre-roll. I walked out of there pretty happy. There's a good variety of high grade flower there for people who want to check that out. There are restaurants in the area as well in case anyone gets the case of the munchies. Happy toking!

I was there half an hour before closing.  I stood in line for 20 minutes at which point they said they weren't letting anyone else in.  No one ever told me I might not get in because of the time.  Terrible lack of customer service.Typical San Franciscans: Don't care about anything but themselves.Move your line faster.  Let people waiting know they might not get in.  I drove from the East Bay to get there and my time was totally wasted.  Never coming here again.

Until they start carrying Tegridy Farms I will only be awarding four point two stars. As a result of this I have forgotten why I am here. Hold on a second...that's the melody to Funkytown!

Arrived 15 minutes before closing and they would not let me in. They said they had ONE person in line and they close at 10 which is why they said they would not let me in. By they I mean the skinny man with a ponytail. I had left work early to come to this dispensary instead of ANY of the others that close at 10. Take this for sleep (have insomnia)The security guard was exceptionally nice though and tried to help me - he's the only good part.

This was my second time here. First time was great, the budtender helped me and my friend and he was super friendly and answered all our questions. This time I came with a few friends and our budtender was rude and made snarky comments to us. Was clearly saying something rude to other budtenders about us and was laughing with them- all while we were there. Not a good experience and it felt very rushed. Their products were also more expensive than I remember. I will not be returning.

My go to in SAn Francisco! They always have great quality stuff and a big selection. The weekly deals are always great!

What happened to this place? Used to be the finest marijuana dispensaries in all the land. Now it's unwelcoming (aka the customer service is non existent), they have 1/3 of the product they used to, and they no longer accept credit cards. Get your shit together Grass Roots. Not like there isn't 100 other dispensaries to choose from. Start with hiring people with some sort of customer service background, go back to accepting credit cards, and if you can't carry more product, at least clean up the display.

On my random trip to SF, I realized I forgot my edibles which help with my acid reflux. I've only ever been in SJ so I didn't know if it was a different process. They were friendly from the gate, and efficient with the paperwork. My budtender was Louis(?) the one with dreads and he was super helpful. I'm very new to this  type of stuff so going into dispensaries make me feel a bit out of place. I explained to him my weird quirks, what i can't handle, and also the issues that I needed the most help with.I feel like Louis took his time to listen and recommended me the PBJ toffee and some other stuff. He was very knowledgeable and i didnt feel like he was just trying to make sales. If youre weak like me the toffee will be perfect for you and they dont have that weird grassy taste. I actually really loved the vibe in this shop it reminds me of a small saloon and all the workers were very helpful.

Not sure what all the one star reviews are all about? I come by at a Friday around 5pm and there was a short line. I stood in line for maybe about 7 minutes before I was let inside. Interior is easy to navigate and I enjoy their systematic processing. Maybe because I'm a total newbie but I enjoyed the personalized one-on-one and don't mind the wait. I ended up getting $5 off by signing up for their rewards system

Preordered, when I got they refused to honor the se they'd sent me an hour earlier by text, then gave me the wrong product. When I went back to return it they said they can't it's illegal. Manager pretended to not understand me and then laughed as I had to repeat what I wanted ten times. Awful person

Awesome experience, very professional, organized, and friendly staff. We were greeted and id by a nice keanu reeves look alike with a killer smile, the line moved very quickly and at the register awaited our smiling and eager consultant. I forgot his name but he was african american with long dredlocks neatly styled away from his face. This man was so knowledgeable, patient, and super sweet to my husband and i (as newbies). We promised if he ever came to miami we would show him a good time!! First thing, monday im calling to get his name and rave about his customer service to any manager who will listen. Anyways, give them a try, you will not be dissapointed!!

The guys @ Medical Marijuana Card Doctors Hollywood Easy Clinic recommended Grass Roots and so far I'm happy with what I purchased. Today was my first time @ a cannabis clinic and dispensary. Both the clinic and dispensary are a street from one another, so if it's your first time come here... it's convenient and you get a little gift as a "welcome to the club." There's a variety of herbs to choose from and the bud-tenders are connoisseurs! I haven't tried all of what was purchased today, but I will update my review after I've properly experienced the products.

What up with the $3 service charge on a credit card purchase. Slim pickings when it comes to choices..."We are out is it..." Well, ya have been out is it every time I've come in. Yawn!Can't wait for another shop to take over in the hood.

This used to be my favorite place before legalization without prescriptions. Now it must have changed management. It is a negative poorly organized environment. I recommend going elsewhere. What a shame.

I had a problem with cartridge I bought for $70 and battery for 20$. used it maybe four five times before magic happened and something disconnected between battery and cartridge after I wanted to charge it for the second time in my life. Didn't do anything special with it so no idea why it was broken. Btw I had an issue with battery bought here as well and had to spent another $10 for usb. Brought all "equipment" to the store and ask for replacement, which typically you will have in any other store even after few months if it's more than 80% full. After careful consideration, they refused to do anything. Ended up buying new cartridge and battery in a different store+ $90Never return again. Good weed but who cares if you can smoke it due to poor product quality. Adjustment after manager replied: the cartridge was 90% full, in this case it doesn't matters when I bought it. It was used 5 time in its pour entire life. I bought it 6m ago not 8. I bought it along with predose pen from a different store, which had issues after 4m of usage too and it was 30% full, I didn't even expected for replacement just asked what happened, they replaced for a brand new no questions ask!! And the weed there is good quality as well. if you product was defective from the very beginning it's not customers responsibility.This is my second negative review posted on yelp ever!!!

My first visit there, the store was clean and well managed. I appreciate that they were adamant about checking IDs and making sure it was an orderly experience. I left out a star because the employee who helped me made me feel really stupid for asking questions and being curious about what to buy and how it would objectively affect me. I bought some 10mg cookies and they were well priced at $4 each. I would recommend this place to anyone but I would suggest to be informed before you go in.

It's unfortunate that this is my closest club. I've had mosly good experiences until today.  The budtender was pretty snotty because I asked for something different for a cartridge. I was basically returning a faulty product and she didn't like me asking for a specific type of product. Anyways you were nice while you lasted.

VIBE: ChillWHY: CBD selection & knowledgeable staffSteve is the man here! I came the other day looking for a specific, CBD rich tincture and he offered me a whole host of awesome options. After helping me decide which was the best deal, I also requested another product I use from time to time. He pointed out the THC milligram dosage, which was so low! I had never noticed before. He suggested some other options, but I was just so impressed that he actually took the time to educate me about the differing products & what works best.I'll be back just for him. I live in Marin, and drive to Grass Roots every couple of weeks for their amazing flower and medicinal selections. The staff is always very knowledgeable, kind and friendly. Love this place.

Marijuana is now legal for recreational use in California. That means long lines at this place. The selection is just great and the service is always good. Everyone is always patient and helpful. When you get to the counter there is an IPad with pictures of all the available goods. I really like how taxes are all included in the pricing. So there is not guessing as to how much you're going to pay. This place is worth a look. Try to go early in the day so you don't run into long ass lines. Don't forget your ID.

They're now easily the most expensive club in the area, and to make matters worse, their selection has become really poor.SPARC is somehow cheaper than Grass Roots, which I never imagined, and yet here we are.Staff are still cool though.

Extremely helpful staff but their topical salve/balm selection was limited, they need to stock more of Whoopi's stuff.... also they carry the shitty Passion dosist pen but don't have the much preferable Arouse pen. I think this place is more for the flower and bud people but for amateurs like me they don't have enough pain creams or high tech vape pens like Beboe.

The staff are all solid, nice people. They are so good at their job that I have contemplated submitting a resume. Then I remember they make it look easy but I'm sure it's not. They are cool folks, natural healers, and I am lucky to have their help.Every time I show up they have a promotion. I leave with twice the weight I had planned on, with the same amount of cash. This place is great, I could go on and on, but we all choose our own level of involvement, so go check it out for yourself. Grass Roots has been a friend to me since 2014. Thanks guys and much love!

Whoa this place is great. As a newbie to the cannabis scene their staff was awesome and informative and made sure I left with a product that would work the best for me. The facility was clean and organized and left a great impression.

This is so far my favorite club in SF.  They're the only place that I can find that carries Bloom Farms Highlighter refills.  Which, IMO, everyone should try this vape pen (it's even a stylus). The employees are cool.  I worked with Mattie/Attie or something like that.  She was real knowledgeable as I'm hella picky.  She was really lax when working with me.  Also, see Johnny Love, he knows what's best, TRUST ME.My personal recommendation is the "Cashmere"..  That ish is STRONG! but soooooooo chill thoThey have great selections, but parking sucks (it's SF).  I don't mind the prices either.  Check them out!  #light-up

I just have a real love for this place, though I don't come as often as I should. I have a lot of respect for the buyer here - the flower is always delicious and the guy knows good weed.I love love love the decor and all of my interactions with staff have been phenomenal - from security to managers and budtenders. I love the printed menus, wall paper, and the antique chairs in the front. Such a cute spot and lots of product to choose from. Plus, a relaxed atmosphere.

Used to come here often for their unique strains, but after a few months of not being in the neighborhood, an opportunity came through for me to return to this area, so I stopped by Grass Roots for some quality buds. Before coming, I checked their online menu page on yelp, but it didn't work. So I checked the reviews for some recommendations, and saw that their customer service has changed, but I can't judge them until I come. The security was fine, we had no issue with them unlike some others, BUT, the budtender on the other hands were way different than before. The guy I had (I don't remember his name) was completely useless. I asked for pre roll recommendations, and barely got a word out of him. He showed zero interest in helping me out....and it was an overall terrible service. There's so many other locations in downtown with better service, so I don't think I'll return anytime soon.

UPDATE: this is one of only 7 places in the city right now that is selling to everyone (no Rx required unless you're 18). Cash only now and make sure to have your ID. Expect a line around the block during peak hours on Friday and Saturday nights. Such great indicas, hybrids, and edibles here. They also carry all of the hmbldt pens (and honor the $5 off when you return your old pen to recycle). Cool menu and never feel rushed or hurried when I come in, even at peak hours. Great staff and awesome layout inside!

Went here today. You're supposed to give your id for check in and then get in line. The guy checking in with your id is supposed to give it back to you before you get into the line. Allegedly. I did not get my id back. I left the store and in barely two minutes realised that I did not get my id back. Went back to the shop and the guy was rude af about the fact that he did not have my id and that he gave it back to me. I know I did not lose it and I know I did not get it back from him. I want my id back.

Visited for the first time today. The club is attractive and well-run, the prices and the selection are first rate, and the staff is friendly and helpful. You can register online in advance, which I highly recommend as it makes the sign-in process at the door a lot quicker. The neighborhood is a bit funky, but it doesn't feel dangerous. Parking can be a challenge. I loved the antique carved wood bar and the cushy upholstered benches in the waiting area, which gives the place an Old West saloon kind of ambiance. I'll definitely be back.

Amazing staff.  I visited from New York so I never been in a dispensary before. I had so many questions, I asked what's some good buds to try, what other products should I try and everyone was very patient . Will def come back when I'm in San Fran again !

It's very busy there and communicating the process to first time visitors is difficult.  Overall I got a feel that most staff were helpful but I unfortunately did not experience that.  For my experience, I basically stood there in front of a kiosk as if I'm ordering online.  That's fine... but the staff member I worked with was pretty off his game.  Absolutely terrible service... He gave short and vague answers, etc.  If I ever come back, I hope I get the other staff members that seemed much more well spoken and willing to help.  Get rid of that guy, he's bad for business.

This is my go to place as this is the closest  dispensary from my house and one of the best and fanciest you will find in SF. They always have high quality buds which lasts for long and I usually buy 1/16-1/ 5 and the quantity is just good enough for me to last for 15 days. Their joints are amazing. Never even coughed for once smoking those pre rolls. I would give this place more than 5 stars because they introduced me with some amazing new strains that I am in love with. Most of the staffs working here are friendly except few but it is nothing which ever bothered me. Cash only but they have an atm inside.

They have a wide selection of products. Staff is very helpful and knowledge. Minus stars for checkout process. I hate going to the counter and always feeling rushed. I have to know what I want. If you spend too much time asking questions or browsing the menu they get impatient

The selection here is good and the service from the bud tender that helped me was very helpful. However, I felt uncomfortable with some of the people hanging out there and security; pretty creepy overall. Left a bad first impression for sure.

I went in a few weeks ago for the first time (and my first time in a real dispensary! always stuck to delivery services) and I was helped by Steve and he was super nice and excited about his job and happy to share his experience/thoughts on almost everything that I had questions about! A super nice experience for me, especially since I was a bit unsure about it all. I got one of the alchemy cartridges that I had been really wanting to try, and a gram of Northern Lights that was amazing and smelled/looked super good! I love that they cut your piece and weigh it right in front of you- you know exactly what you're getting and always get a nice chunk- never a bunch of little pieces like at some other places. Went back for some prerolls since I loved the free one that I got for joining (!!!) and the girl was super nice and wasn't pushy at all because I told her I was just coming in to grab some prerolls. The blue dream is amazing like always. Thanks Grassroots!!!! Only tiny complaint is that the Alchemy cartridges are $40, all the other SF dispensaries have them for $35!

I've been to this location twice. The first time was pleasant...this time not so much. The door guy was rude to me. I get it...you're in the loin and you probably get your share of insanity, but when I get chided for ringing the bell on a locked gate that isn't constantly attended, it really makes me want to go elsewhere to purchase my medication.

I wanna like this place but the girls behind the counter gotta stop hatin like all I'm tryin to do is have a good day and you guys make me leave feeling shittier

My first time here my bud tender (Louis with the dreads?) was amazing. He was so patient and knowledgeable and gave me very good recommendations.  Five stars for this visit, however went back here a second time and my bud tender (forgetting her name) was not as attentive, I felt extremely rushed, and she didn't seem to care for what I wanted and more about making a sale. My second time was a huge disappointment which is why I'm giving 3 stars

Staff were friendly and efficient from start to finish. Took time to talk and answer questions, PLUS they had the Louis XIII cartridge I wanted. I'll be back.

G.R. continues to be a great source for thc. The service is always prompt, efficient, knowledgeable and polite without the obsequious fawning prevalent at many pot clubs.

First time coming here, was greeted well, and handed an iPad with the menu to look over while they checked us in so we knew what we wanted by the time we got to the counter. Shout out to Sat for the exceptional and quick customer service! We went from the back of the line to out the door in under 15 minutes easy. Would definitely go out of my way next time I'm in the city just to pay them another visit.

If you want quality for the price. This is the spot. All you herb conoisseurs out there will know what I'm talking about once you purchase their top shelf. One hit wonders and the taste of the buds are unreal. I like my herbs grown right and I def would come back down here just for that reason. Not to mention the venue and atmosphere is something else.

This place has very good customer service. Everything they recommended i loved from the flower to the edibles. Their prices are fair and they have good deals. I will be returning the next time i step down in the bay area.

Been a patient since 2004, and have tried so many dispensaries.  Like dating it takes awhile to learn what you like, you change, the dispensaries change, and eventually you get something going that you really love and feel good about. Grass Roots you are the dispensary for me.  I choo choo choose you!   The meds are always great quality at affordable prices.  Staff is thoughtful, friendly and caring, you really get the feeling that they take care of their loyal customers. It is always a pleasure going in, they keep it classy.

We came in midday, got in and out very quickly.  Staff was upbeat and knowledgable.  The products that were suggested were exactly what we wanted.

Hands-down my favorite dispensary in San Francisco. Staff is so nice and the product is consistently the best I've ever had. Been coming here for years and will never give it up.

I had a great experience at this place, mainly because I got a good budtender (Camisha).  She was great, helped me pick out the right type of bud.  Also liked their selection, especially the edibles.

I came into the store my first time ever going to the dispensary. Was treated great and had all my questions answered. Everything you would want in a business:Easy traveling to.Really friendly and helpful customer service.Relatively good and competitive prices.Great product.A definite go to place. =)

big variety to smoke, pre roll, gummies, etc.  expect long lines.  or maybe it was only long because its new for recreational use.  either way.  you wait in line outside and then give your id to be scanned.  then you wait more inside.  its cash only by the way.  theres an atm inside so you can take cash out.  the dudes inside are cool and know all the different products.  you can come out spending a lot of money.  but its all in good fun.  id come back.  they were chill.

Went here last week with my bestie when our regular club was closed- the man who helped us was awesome! He told us all about the strains for about 5-10m, we could tell he definitely knew what he was talking about. We got free joints because we were new, they were a little smaller than the usual preroll but smoked excellently. Highly satisfied customer :)

The man who helped me find a good cbd product really knows the products and was very thorough for a noob like me. Clean and organized store. Very happy with the selection and the service.

Worst customer service we've experienced. Unwelcoming, unfriendly, condescending, unhelpful, unprofessional, uncaring. Shame. With so many choices, take a pass on this one.

I've been coming here for awhile. They used to have top shelf everything. But ever since it's now legal in CA, the quality of the medicine is very much lacking compared to what it used to be like. Maybe there is a supply and demand issue.

I've visited twice so far, and I think that's enough...there is too much competition for this place to get my business.  The woman behind the counter was not bad at customer service and reasonably patient.  The jerk at the door was rude and arrogant (quite the combination, I know!).  ("Yes, I can explain why I need to scan and photocopy your ID.  All you need to do is ask me!")    Both times I went to Grass Roots I got the feeling of condescension, which is hilarious considering that they are basically in the retail business selling what is essentially a refined weed.  Everything there is to learn about pot can now be learned on the internet in a couple of days...so this place is nothing special.  If they went out of business, nobody would notice.

This was my first visit to a medical club and I wasn't sure what to expect. I had my wife call ahead to make sure I had whatever paperwork I needed in order to get in. After a couple of emails with Chris, I was verified and ready to go. When I arrived, Carlos, the security guard was expecting me. Very cool. They had a nice selection of everything. I was in the market for edibles, but I also left with a couple of eighths and a couple of vape pens. Everyone was very accommodating and helpful. They are open early so you can get in and get out before you start your day. Awesome place!

I had been for here for a year already. Then one day the "doorman" told me my doctors recommendation letter had expired and I couldn't get inside until I received an updated one. I was bummed as I was looking so forward to a bud. When I returned with an updated letter from my doctor, he said they couldn't let me in as they could not get ahold of my doctor. It was a Sunday, what did they expect? I had been going for a year, I had the same doctor from the previous letter and year. WTF?  I have never been back and am now so happy with Sparc I highly recommend them on Mission Street.

Recently found this dispensary and I loved it!! The employees are nice. They also always have good deals, And if you spend a good amount they hook it up with a goodie.

So far, I've been here twice and it's the only dispensary I've ever been to so maybe I don't know any better, but I love this place! I'm fairly new to the whole medical scene but whenever I come here they make me feel welcome and like I'm part of their family. The atmosphere is just amazing. They have a cute little bar/pub thing going on with a nice wooden counter and stools. They have very nice menus which as others have mentioned are color coded for indica/sativa/hybrids. I saw some people mention bad things about the doormen, but every time I've been here they have gone out of their way to be nice and friendly to me, making conversation and smiling.They always give me a free edible too. I don't ask for it or expect it, and I don't really like edibles so I usually just pass them on to a friend or something, but it's a nice gesture.Plus, their budtenders are SUPER knowledgeable and nonjudgmental. They will ask you about your condition and offer things that will help. They truly care about you here.Like I said earlier, this is the only dispensary I've gone to (and I really have no reason to switch), so I can't speak for price comparisons, but if Grass Roots is expensive, you are paying for the quality of service they give and it's definitely worth it to me. I'd rather pay for quality service and medicine, than go to some shady place where I don't feel comfortable or wanted.Also I'm sorry I don't remember your name, but high five to the red-haired chick who helped me today! Nice and easy . i love how the menus are printed and put in to nice leather folders. The prices on the flowers here ere a nice variety.i wasnt sure what to buy for the concentrate. chris the person who was my counter person was very helpful and nice about the right choice. Grass Roots has consistently been my favorite dispensary in the Bay Area-- let alone San Francisco-- for the past 3 years.The overall reason is very simple: they always have TOP QUALITY buds at unbeatable prices. I rather like the new dispensary that just opened, SPARC SF, but that place is honestly more of a high-end boutique type of pot club (not that it's a bad thing at all, it just means select, beautiful strains that may cost a little more). Grass Roots has something for everyone, and I mean EVERYONE. Some prefer quantity over quality, which Grass Roots is an excellent place to go for cheap eighths that are bomb for rolling, but they also have several options for varying price ranges from $45, $50, $55, and $60, with anywhere from 12 to 20 strains in each price bracket! When you spend at least $50, you get 10% off... every single time. Believe me, there is a noticeable difference between a $45 eighth and a $45 eighth discounted from $50, so I strongly suggest going for the "$50" instead.When you get in, if you have to wait before approaching the bar (yes, it's an old-timey wooden bar setup), you sit on these cozy stools against the wall with menus on them that you can look over. The menu is color-coded (indica, sativa, hybrid) and organized by price, so kudos to them because unorganized menus are one of my biggest complaint at other clubs. The selection is also evenly distributed, which is HUGE to me. What I mean by that, is it's not just 6 sativas, 5 sativa-dominant hybrids, and 1 indica, which is incredibly frustrating for me as I'm an all-indica individual. Each price bracket has about 6 of each medicine classification (like I said, something for EVERYONE).The staff is not just the friendliest and most helpful of any dispensary, but of any business I've been to. Seriously. Every SINGLE one of the employees are incredibly friendly, personable (very easy to talk to), and extremely knowledgeable about all their medicine. I always ask their recommendations, as they're very honest and will tell you exactly what they think is good and what's not.The last perk that makes me love going to Grass Roots is the fact that you are allowed to actually touch and smell the buds, and even examine them under the UV magnifying-glasses they have mounted to the bar.While I raved about SPARC SF in my last review, they just don't have as much selection as Grass Roots (but about the same price, after tax). While recent laws have forever changed the 4/20 enjoyment forever, the Grass Roots contributes it's fair share. Why, for instance, do they need to charge a $3.75 fee just for using a debit card? This was not disclosed to me until AFTER the purchase! I got ripped off! Not by my purchase, but the club! I have never been charged by any other place. I strongly urge all to research before you buy! No 2 clubs are the same, but they should all play by the rules! If it were possible, I would love to have that extra fee returned!

5 stars for the dispensary. Great service and consistent quality. 6 STARS FOR THE DELIVERY SERVICE. Order #1: 35 min delivery. Order #2: less than 20 mins. Both filled precisely plus a quality bonus pre-roll each time. Delivery guy was professional and discrete.

The store is very well stocked and clean. I talked to them about a bad transaction I had and Chris, the manager, was very personally attentive and made sure I ended up leaving with a good experience. Will definitely be coming back.

Let me preface this review by saying that I have been involved in the MMJ industry for a few years and I have been medicating regularly for 10+yrs.  I only frequent Grass Roots due to it's proximity to my apartment, combined with my work schedule. Some things I like:The medicine at Grass Roots is generally good and there are usually many varieties available.  The budtenders are, for the most part, friendly, and being neighbors, I have gotten to know a few of the senior staff on a first name basis.Concerns:While the medicine is good (for the most part), it is very common for sativas to be labeled and sold as indicas and vice versa. I have tried to politely correct them but nobody seems to care. When I asked for OG or any Indica dominant hybrid they told me that they were out of OGs but that Headband or Sour Diesel were great substitutions... I contained my laughter and politely told the budtender that neither of those strains was an indica, only to be treated like an a-hole for correcting her.The staff here is friendly, really, they are all lovely people and super nice.  But none of them know anything about MMJ and it is very apparent. I understand it's not easy to find knowledgeable staff, but it would be nice to know that my budtenders at least know the difference between sativa and indica so that I can get the correct medication.Last concern: The "shatter" here has not once been shatter.  It is hash oil that has been refrigerated, and turns back to oil once kept at room temperature (shatter is actually made using a specific method, where the end result is that form of concentrate). I have also gotten concentrate that was more butane than THC.Grass Roots is nice, but it feels like they are more interested in making money, rather than giving the best service possible.  I appreciate having a friendly neighborhood dispensary, but not if I keep wasting my money on medicine that is not what I asked for.  Having had so many of the same employees working there for so long (like years now for some of them), you would think they would actively keep up with the trends in the industry and all the advances in medicine and continue to educate themselves on what they're selling.  Instead they talk me out of what I want and into the opposite of what I'm looking for... and I don't think it's on purpose, I just don't think they know... Grass Roots, you're my neighbor, and I appreciate you being right there when I need you... but I think you're going to be my last resort spot until you get your act together.

This is by far my favorite medical marijuana club in the city. Nothing is pre-packaged so they weigh and bag the weed in front of you. The fact that they don't spend money on fancy bags means that the price of the product can be lower. This is one of the best priced clubs I've ever been to. Staff is nice and helpful with any questions and great at helping you find the right medicine for your specific needs. The inside of the club has such a cool and rustic feel to it. Unfortunately they recently stopped accepting debit card payments but there is an ATM inside.

The host Johnny is great! Professional and competent! Took good  care of us! When we are back in San Francisco we will come back to this dispensary!

Great location (Downtown San Francisco area just a few minutes walk from most hotels in Union Square), the staff there are very courteous, patient, and nice so great customer service, prices are decent and the quality is pretty good comparing to other dispensaries. They have edibles as well as drinks, however one thing I really really liked about this place is that they offer an in-store Vape experience if you would like to come with some friends and just talk and Vape as you go (I believe last time I was there the time intervals was worth 30 minutes per turn for Vaping). If you're ever in the area I would highly recommend this place.

Great dispensary in this part of SF.  Very knowledgeable staff about their product and willing to give recommendations on your preference.  Their prices are the same with other dispensaries in the city but their customer service is top notch.  I just had a batch of the blueberry cookies from here and it was amazing.  Helped with my appetite and back pain.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. Went here the other day because the majority of the reviews were good. Highly disappointed. Employees aren't friendly, the guy behind the counter who helped me was extremely rude. I felt super rushed so I didn't even get everything I wanted to because he was clearly unhappy that I wanted to take some time to look at the menu. One of the cartridges I bought turned out to be cracked open so now I have to sadly go back there and HOPE they'll replace it. The flower prices are ridiculous especially for the quality they have. Don't waste your time going here. There are far better, more welcoming, cost effective dispensaries to go.

I LOVE this place. The staff is friendly and knowledgable-I always go in totally not knowing what I'll get/being indecisive and they make me feel great about my choices and answer any questions I have about what I'm potentially purchasing. They have an amazing selection, an easy to read/understand menu. Also, I love the speakeasy feel of it-it's classy & stylish!

Grassroots is an absolutely fantastic dispensary. The people working there are kind, passionate, and hard working. The atmosphere inside is bright and happy. They've got a huge menu and are happy to help you out however you need. The people have always been especially kind. Tayo, one of the doormen working there, has went way out of his way to help accommodate me in the past, brightening my whole week. I love this place so much that it was even one of my main reasons for moving to the neighborhood! I'm nothing but extremely satisfied. They run a great business and genuinely care about the quality of service. Wish more businesses would learn from the example set by the hard working and well organized employees there! I'm proud to be a member. [10] out of 10, would recommend.

The fanciest dispensary in SF hidden in the tenderloin. So far their product has been the most effective and best looking that I have found. I love their big leather menus.

First time visiting this excellent dispensary, from start of my visit up until the end, the staff displayed professionalism and courtesy, total visit time about ten or 15 min. There is a wait area, barstools to sit and shop, the menus are cool and the selections are so far some of the best in the city with prices to match your purchase budget. The one thing I did t like was that I will have to bring my canna patient certificate each time with ID, worth it to me because of all the sativa based choices, parking may be rough on this one way street for people driving there so park on Polk buddy

First time in and it was great! Security was polite and signed us up quick, and got a gift for our first time in. Loved the decor and atmosphere was fun, quick and polite service!

Grass Roots used to have competitive advantage with their non-top shelf eighth which went between $20-30. Granted it was a limited selection, it did give them an upper hand. While, Apothecarium has discounts for 1st time visitors and also charges 50% less for the sealed bag, & a wider selection of inexpensive Sativa (when compared to Grass Roots)

Handy local place. As good as any of the other places around it. The crystalline concentrate is a gimmick.

I'm from L.A. so it was my 1st time buying from a dispensary in San Francisco and it was great! Everyone was very helpful and very friendly! I was in & out in 5 minutes! I highly recommend this place!

Slick! So much more interesting than phoned-in deliveries. It's true (whael, for least 50% of Life's transactions anyhow), you get what you pay for. Segueing into... Smooth. The lingering absence of low-level arthritic and muscular pain next morning is something I thought was impossible pour moi, this far out on the timeline.

IF you have no choice they do have Great products.  High Prices.  Good location.  Some very nice people.   Unfortunately, like most clubs white men predominate but women are better represented  here. I hate to say, maybe the problem is women do not smoke as much THC product, and thus cannot tell us about all the products as they cannot try them all.  This is the only field where the more useful person is the waste case.  HOWEVER, you do not want them wasted when they are counting up your bill and your products. The woman you are most likely to see or interact with is "the enforcer,"  who always looks irritable and not high.  She has a laptop and glasses, unlike the average budtender. (that is a stupid word for what is supposed to be a Medical Facility) who looks high or is goofy and smiling.  Check everything you buy, bring your own scale.  Closely examine any cartridges and ask them to check the heating element.  If you don't complain on the spot, even if you think you got a half of what you should have, don't bother complaining later without the evidence.   All of it. Even if you just got all the way home to Oakland and require the medication for the CBD's in it. Even if you call them to tell them the problem.  They will never give you one nickel back if they are not forced. They claim they return money if you bring it back, but I do not believe them.  I have never seen them return one plug nichel I think they would make up some silly reason why you are wrong or they cannot help you. Probably they would claim it was a different package you bought previously and you are hiding the real one at home.BTW,Those "gifts" are not gifts, they are calculated by a precise formula on a percentage of the price.As Jim L. notes, there are often rude or unpleasant things done for no reason.  I like the bald guy, I hope it is a different on.  There are predominantly older white men working here.  Straight, they seem, but one never knows.  One looks like a surfer model and is a complete idiot with an arrogant attitude.

I'm a first timer from out of town and they were very friendly and knowledgable. One guy was even from my home town, so that was cool to talk with everyone there. My bud tender was really friendly and never rushed me. He showed me everything I was interested in and gave helpful recommendations. Very glad to have a positive experience here and plan to return in the future.

The security guy was super rude and they gave me less than what I paid for I will  never go there again.  Check out other dispensaries they are way better

Grass Roots is the best dispensary in SF.  I have been a patient with them for more than four years, and for more than four years they have been the best consistently.  The selections at other clubs do not compare.  Their product is a cut above the rest, too.  A few short years ago it would have been hard to imagine life without the place.  Until very recently when the ownership opened a second dispensary in SOMA.  Barbary Coast has everything Grass Roots  has (with a little less attitude).  And it's bigger and swankier, too.  Peace

I actually think this needs a 3 1/2 star rating.  For the most part I have been pretty pleased with Grassroots though a few concerns have come up recently. #1 is the price of medicine has gotten a bit crazy.  To few good meds at good prices.  I've also found seeds in a few $50+ eighths, which is beyond insane.  #2 is hash testing and labeling, I've had enough of the improperly purged BHO.    On a positive note, great staff and plenty of choices if you have the $$.

The absolute worst place to buy.Extremely rude employees and do not respect clients.High prices and defective merchandise especially vape cartridges. The products are misrepresented and very low quality. So many better places to buy do not waste your time here. They act as if they are doing you a favor selling you. I have been a fool spending large sums at this placeand have been a loyal customer, what a mistake!. They insulted, offended and mistreated me several times enough is enough. After a couple of terrible experiences i decided to check other shops. Glad i did! Better prices, better treatment. Customer is always right....@ most other shops. I brought my wife with me the last and final time.....she was abused, humiliated and assaulted by the doorman. They use foul language and behave as animals. i dont think they deserve to be in business. Last time i was there my wife had to call the police because of the way she was treated. Stay away!!!!!! Dont learn the hard way....

I would be giving them a zero star if possible. I have been a medical patient for the past 3.5 years even before it was legal for recreational use. Grass Roots is close to my place and been buying pure extracts cartridges worth $63 each for the past 6 months from them (not cheap). Last week, I bought two cartridges (Trainwreck and White widow). Trainwreck worked well for me but the second cartridge was pretty crap and had no effect whatsoever. I have been a pure extract user for more than two years and all I was wondering was if I got a bad batch or a fake one!! After 3 days, I went to Grass roots to return the full cartridge back (I had probably taken 8-10 hits off it with no effect) and spoke with the manager who argues with me that he can't help me,Worst customer service, did not want my money back I was only asking for a replacement which he was not willing to do. $65 Is not cheap and with a shitty attitude like theirs I'm never going back. I'm spending my money where they care for their patients and customers. Worst service store in San Francisco!!

The buds are generally pretty high quality and the customer service is excellent. They have a good selection of edibles, check out the ones from the Baykery. Their concentrate options could be more expansive. They are often out of stock on many listed menu items and I find them to be overpriced in general. Their $60 eighth is fire but it's totally not worth $60. It looks like flowers you'd get for $40-50 an eighth and a better dispensary like SPARC or Green Door. Some of the edibles can be found in other dispensaries for a lower price, identical product. An example is the Korova Cookie, which most Californian patients have probably seen. Grass Roots used to charge $16 for a 250 mg cookie and they've now bumped it up to $18. You can buy them for $13 in at least 2 competitors' dispensaries. Their five dollar pre roll joints are absolute trash and an identical version of the ten dollar ones can be found at the Green Door for five dollars. They do give a discount to veterans. Their prices are the main reason for the mediocre rating. The buds are fire and the atmosphere is great don't get me wrong, but it's just not mind blowing enough to justify the premium luxury price tag. Step it up or mark it down, Grass Roots.

Staff could be more friendly. I'm visiting San Fran so we called and asked if we'd be able to sit and smoke. They said yes. We uber across town and there's a three person booth -- that's it! We left and went to urban pharm which had proper smoking area. Also the atm machine would not accept anyone from our group debit card. Next spot went through no issues.

this business is a total joke. Used to come here w my card to get help for pain management post surgery. Now I have to wait in a very long line with a group of people half of whom are probably purchasing pot to resell it on the street. Diva's is also trying to run their business with an endless cue of stoners in front of their bar.

This is normally a great dispensary and I'd even give it a 5 star, but recently idk what has been wrong. All they have is $40 eighths and up. They never have enough of their special to last more than a few hours. They never have much left of what they are selling.  Costumer service is way down. I bought and eighth today and was given just under 3 grams. Something needs to change or I will no longer be a costumer. What's up grassroots?

I have caught this dispensary twice cheating me on bud.  You have to understand what most of these dispensary people are.  They are drug dealers.  Yes, they are the guys that used to sell you bags out of the back seats of cars in your high school parking lot, or hooking you up somewhere down in the haight, or be sure and tell you it will be tomorrow everytime you called to hook up.  So, what I am getting to here is this.  It seems you can take the drug dealer off the streets, but you can't take the street out of the drug dealer, and by Prop 215 coming in, these guys who used to gnash and grind their teeth over being a slave to the grower, now these guys have the growers by the balls because they are the outlet now for all bud. Ok.  Two years ago after CMC closed, I go here and grab a 1/8 of blue dream just as a sample.  It's very good.  I go back  4 days later and get the same thing, and it doesn't have any effect whatsoever.  I then, over the course of a few weeks tried top shelf strains from here, and then inspected the buds at home with a glass, and these individuals back then were tumbling top shelf weed and turning it into hash.  Remember back a couple years ago when you would go there and there would be big mirrors with big giant cowpies of hash on them?   That vanished.   Why?  Because they probably got busted.   I caught them.  I'm sure someone else has also.So, after that, I never went there again.   Cut to present time, 2 years later...I am in the neighborhood and looking for a certain strain and I go by there and pick up some meds.  Again, good service, good meds...then I go one day and purchase an 1/8 of top shelf purple....get it home and start looking at it, and it's about 5 nuggets of the real purple stuff I saw under the glass, and some other bright green bud that looks like trainwreck or something else....  suffice it to say that 50% of my bag WAS NOT WHAT HE WEIGHED out in front of me.So, either those mason jars they show you have like 1/2" of top shelf on top, and then the rest is bullshit that they can't move OR the asshole budtender switched it when he was bagging it up and I didn't catch him.Either way, these people are to be avoided.  I urge you to boycott this place with extreme prejudice.  To their credit, they offered to make it right, and most likely it is a crooked bud tender. Pass.

Best club in the city hands down....!Best quality, & largest variety of medicine. They have multiple grades, even a low-low grade, so that the most frugal patients can be taken care of....But, why eat hot dogs when you can have steak? Spend the extra bucks, and go for the high grade. No pun intended. The staff are SO friendly & professional. It feels great to pop by, and have EVERY person there greet you with a smile. Their edibles are fantastic. The warmest vibe in the TL for sure. Thank you staff...!You're ALL, the best of the best!

The experience of purchasing medicinal marijuana from a dispensary can be a difficult task, you want to spend your money wisely.  Different clubs have different technics for letting you choose from different strains.  Grass roots is the only club i have been to that will let you actually touch a nug before purchasing it.   The employees are knowledgeable about all of the strains and patient enough to open each giant jar as you decide between the like 50 strains.Their clones are amazing.  Their edibles are amazing.10% off.Their F***ing shake is the best deal in the city.It is a fun place to be, the decor is really classy and they usually have good music on.Nate, Justin, Nick, Kevin, Caesar, Lacie, and even the irish one, brighten my day everytime I go.  I always leave with a smile on my face, and a fat bag of chronic in my hand.

Why?1) SERVICE: They ask you to come up on a barstool and display a huge menu of strains in front of you, clearly marked what type it is and the price range. Everything is so simple and you don't feel like you're getting rushed to purchase and get you out the door.2) KNOWLEDGE: These guys know their bud. They are not only knowledgeable but they really care about how their meds are treating us (the patients). It's nice to be able to sit down and have a chat and really feel like you're talking to a neighborhood bar tender3) SERVICE! Again, this is what makes them special. They're super friendly and profiessional. When I went with my doctor's rec card, they made and effort to validate me and put on an orange sticker so that I wouldn't have to go through that again. All in all, if I'm in that area or even somewhat near it, I'd go there. The other spots just don't compare. To top it all off-  10% off purchases over $50!

One of my favorite dispensaries in the city. Every time I have been the staff has always been very informative and helpful. They also offer great deals and giveaways (like free joints or $35 specials for eights) if you sign up to get emails from them. They also offer a free joint or edible if you spend over $60. Would definitely recommend this dispensary to others!

Daaaammmnn! I'm fromLA & this weed shop's professionalism & actual knowledge & presentation of their meds menu was quite impressive to say the least. The treatment I got here was top notch & there was no need for stupid flirting to get hooked up by these boys. Tall white Mike & skinny light skin cuz @ the door (I can't remember his name, but he was cool AF) anyways these guys gave me the royal treatment- so not what I'm used to from LA shops. I'm not gonna lay out the list of what I got, needless to say this experience was one to come home & talk about. Next time I'm in SF I'll def b a returning patient to this fine MJ shop.

Had to come back and update my review. I have been going to Grassroots exclusively now for a few months. When other shops are cutting prices/quality, Grassroots is sticking with the quantity and quality. Whatever you price range may be they have the fire. If they have the Blue Lightning scoop up bag and you will not be disappointed.The service is consistently great and I have spent as long as 25 mins in there chatting it up and making selections. Think I need to head back now.

Grass Roots, my wonderful neighborhood joint. :) Its about time I share my love for you guys with other yelpers. I have been a member at GR for several years now and their selection has progressively gotten better. There are so many positive aspects to Grass Roots, I'm not sure where to start.First off every time I come in here I know I'm going to be getting the best customer service from whichever bud tender I get. They know me by name, are always so friendly, and love to talk to you about anything medicinal marijuana and most importantly-actually KNOW about the strains, lineage, and what will help your specific ailment. They even know whats wrong with me and when I come in will say "we just got this in and it might help your ailment in this and this way." I absolutely love the vibes and energy of the place and it always makes me smile. They weigh in front of you (which I LOVE) and they don't have a minimum value, so if you wanted you could get $9 of Blue Lightning, $7 of Platinum Bubba Kush, and $13 of Sage n Sour (for example) and they are totally fine with that and will almost always over weigh! Their hash selection is pretty top notch and so are their edibles-I would definitely recommend trying their in-house edible brand its super strong and made with hash. :) Plus, the amount on the menu is what you pay so tax is included-I think all clubs should do that. They also recently started doing a rewards program where based on how much you spend ($50,$100,$200+) you get rewards. For example if you spend $100 or over you can either choose a $12 edible or get an extra $10 worth of medicine, and thats for every purchase! I love that they started doing that. :)They don't have a lounge or place to smoke/vape which is the only reason they aren't getting 5 stars, but they will accommodate you if you want to roll some joints before you leave. They have really comfy big Victorian chairs and will get you setup with grinder/papers/lighters/etc which I think is super sweet of them to do. They are cash only, but they do have a handy ATM on site.I love being so close to Grass Roots, there have been many a days where they have saved me. One Love to this wonderful club. :) They most certainly keep stepping up their game with the changing times.

Hands down, one of the best clubs I've been to so far!I've only been here twice, but they really make your trip worth it.They give you a classy type of bar feel, very patient with the patients, and have 2 menus for trees and edibles.Their 8th ranges from $30 - $80Menus also shows which are the sativa, indica, or hybrid strains.They supply marijuana pills and edible ice cream! My favorite!(Cool that this place is right by a Fire station!)

Grass roots is an amazing dispensary, with by far the best selection in the bay area. I visited for my 3rd time today and went home extremely satisfied. I had $100 to spend and I expected to get about a quarter of good medicine. I left with 9 grams of good stuff and $4 change.. Awesome!!!! Not only that, but the 9 grams is divided into 5 strains!! I left with strawberry cough ($35 8th!), Jade dragon($18 gram), Blueberry($55 8th), Superbud(50 8th) this med smells just like mint!, and finally Northern LightsXPurple haze(50 8th). Tell me this doesn't sound amazing! All in all i was so happy, I almost gave my $4 change to a homeless guy, but I'm a greedy bastard im saving that for my next trip to grass roots!

Yes Yes and then some more yes.....this is the club I go to when quality and exceptional support is my only options. No attitude here. fairly knowledgeable bud tenders. The diversity here is pretty nil unfortunatley,(given the clientele and location I expected some locals to have been employed here but that seems not the case...and it's the only reason I'm bumping a star.) but I DO see women working here and that pleases me fer sure. Also the ladies here seem to really know their product. There's usually a more than adequate concentrate selection and edibile too. There isn't much by way of deals, but things aren't overpriced either. Great location, friendly staff, organized well....a marijuana dispensary class act.

This is a great spot for purchasing medical cannabis.  The folks here are patient & know their buds.  There's a great selection here at a nice variety of price points. The ambiance is really cool, kind of like an old-timey bar.  I wish they had a smoking lounge because this would be a fantastic spot for that.Parking is usually not too hard to find around here, but do keep in mind that the neighborhood is a bit sketchy.  That being said, this is a really nicely maintained club, an oasis in the ghetto :)I highly recommend the edibles here as well - my favorite are the whole wheat crackers as they are not sticky and sweet and they are pretty strong without that earthy, "weed"-y taste that many edibles have.

Only the best!Every time I have come in here, I have gotten nothing but friendly, welcoming faces. Try their Gingerbread treats for $7. Then head their warning when they tell you to only eat a quarter! Best prices around!!! I don't know why I would go anywhere else.

Best experience in town.Location is close to downtownStaff moves you through amazingly well, they know their stuff.Some people bitch about the neighborhood, like they're The Queen coming through on a tour. Get. A. Grip. If you don't like the neighborhood, grow yo own, baby! Stay home in safety and disengage from the world in the comfort of your own home and keep your snarky comments bottled up. It's a vibrant hood...and as safe as you are smart, like everywhere on the planet.

I honestly believe that this is the best dispensary in the whole bay area!!! They always have quality (and nice variety) bud, a nice big selection of edibles (I'm dying to try the ice cream!), and the prices can't be beat! You get 10% off purchases of $50 and more (which is pretty much always a guarantee driving all the way down there), sometimes a free small edible and they don't charge tax! They have some really nice bud tenders, I've only had one guy who was pretty rude but I haven't seen him in awhile so hopefully he got fired. They weigh everything right in front of you (I like this touch, feels more personal), and you're always more than welcome to take a sniff and look through the magnifying glass which is conveniently already right there in front of you waiting for you to get a peek at all the crystals (=The staff is usually very honest if a strain is really stemmy or dry (and will usually add a couple points to make up for it). I really like the vibe of sitting up at a "bar" and the menus they have for you to look at if you have to wait in line because I am OH SO indecisive (although I do miss the one on the board, that one was cute lol).Besides that, I love this place and wish it were closer! Went to grassroots for the first time today, and had a great experience. The staff were friendly, energetic, knowledgable, and welcoming. We were pretty much treated like royalty in my opinion. What I loved the most was the good vibe you feel when you walk in the door. Really great selection, lots of new things to try, great deals, and consultation. Every single question was answered with patience and warmth. You can't find that kind of customer service anywhere. Wonderful place. I am one happy customer:-)

Now that APC's doors are closed, I've had to find another place as my go-to spot and I think Grass Roots does the job nicely.Folks are always friendly, easy-going, and know their stuff.  I know what I like - but can be a little taken aback when I have too much selection.  I usually get one indica and one sativa from here and enjoy both of them a lot, usually going w. whatever the budtender suggests.I love the range of prices, the green being kept in jars for freshness, and the fact that even a long line moves quickly here.  They also never turn their nose up at me b/c I don't buy as much as the person before or after me, and every once in a while throw in an extra treat for me.  I had been here once or twice a long time ago and thought it solid - but after getting the run around at a bunch of other places that were too snobby or too ghetto for me, I have come to realize this is a great dispensary and deserves my bidness!

This is one of the best Cannabis Clubs in SF. Ive visited over 20 and GrassRoots by far has the best, widest selection.They always have at least 25+ different trains, starting @ $60 all the way down to $40. If you spend over $50 bucks you get an automatic 10% discount. So if you spend $200 you get a $20 discount making it $180.The staff is the friendliest around, they always throw in a free edible which cost between $6-12.They by far have the widest selection of hashish and oils, and the largest menu of edible items ive seen.The only thing about this place that sucks is you cant smoke onsight. Vapor Room used to be my favorite all around, but since being introduced to GrassRoots, thats the only place i go to get my meds!I highly recommend to try this place!OH AND IF THEY HAVE BLUE-LIGHTING YOU GOTTA TRY IT! BEST STUFF IVE HAD IN A LONG TIME

You know of all the dispensaries  that I have been to lately Grass Roots still stands out with qualities like Staff, Selection, and Variety of Products. It is worth your time to find this place and try it out. The Staff (yes the cliche is true) are friendly and knowledgeable about all their product. The Selection is great lots of things at the moderate $40 level and they will accommodate you on the precise amount you need at the time. And besides a variety of Keif and Hash selections there are a plethora of tasty edibles that seem very fresh and potent at the right price too!Find em and check em out, cause this is really, truly a five star dispensary.

Grass Roots is one of my top 3 favorite Cannabis Clubs.Its definitely different than the other clubs I have been to.I love the decoration, when you step foot in there it almost feels like a classy bar from the 40's or 50's. They literally have a bar where you sit on a stool, and look through a leather-bound menu so you can place your order. Its pretty neat! The budtenders there are friendly and knowledgeable. They have a very wide selection available, so you will most definitely find something you like. I usually order their top shelf strains which rarely disappoint but I will also order their mid range  sometimes and its also pretty damn good compared to other places. I like how most of the budtenders there are honest. They wont only recommend you the expensive stuff like other clubs sometimes do. When they have cheaper strains that are just as good or better than the expensive ones they usually let me know. I would give this place 5 stars but Im giving it only 4 because I was very disappointed this one time I went there. I ordered an 1/8th of Lemon Kush from this blond haired female budtender who I had never seen there before. When I got home and opened the baggy I was not happy. She gave me some tiny ass nugs and to top it off that she even thru in a STEM.

Best selection of quality medicine around, also best prices, been going here for years and have been to numerous other dispensaries, none of which compare to the quality/prices/staff of grass roots.I have worked for other clubs, as well, and the professionalism, knowledge, and compassion of Grass Roots is second to none, and rivaled by few.

This place has really gone down hill as of late. Been coming here for 5+years, but lately they're always running out of products. Went 3 times this week trying to get a gold drop cartridge for my vape pen. Each time I was told they would have them in tomorrow. Really frustrating. This is the closest dispensary to me so I really hope they get better so I don't have to go to another club.

Great selection of cannabis and the bud tenders are great at welcoming you! We got a few freebies for being new customers and left happy. Got some edibles (that so far are delicious) and plenty of extra goodies. Decent price, a little on the higher end but you get what you pay for :) staff was very welcoming and helpful. Good if you're new to dispensaries.

This is by far the best cannabis club in the city, maybe even the entire bay area. This was the second club I went to (3 years ago), and made a prophecy to myself that this was going to be "my club", my old-reliable, and I can say without a doubt that was one of my best ever decisions. Don't let the gated door scare you because it is really well done and a nice place on the inside. The people who work here are all really friendly, very knowledgeable and almost always give the patient the benefit of the doubt, whether it's by taking out stems or just by rounding up a little bit. It is really the small things that make this place so great. This place is so good I drive from Marin to go here.

I go hear because it's close.But the product is dry .The girl is trying to sale me outdoor stuff.The so called High grade is decent.But dry.I asked the guy I have some high grade product for this place.Again I only come hear when I have to.The guys response was we just want mid grade to low grade right now.I guess that's why the girl wanted me to buy outdoor.

This dispensary is very elegant. The service is great. The prices are good. The budtenders are very good at answering your questions and making you feel confident about your purchases.

Stopped by today around 12 PM or so...After spending $700 on my meds in the past month , I decided this time I would be cheap. I asked the sweet lady budtender with the cute accent what I can get for around $300. She said the $40 8ths go for $270/oz. and the $50 8ths go for $340/oz. I looked at a few of the $40 8th strains... I looked at the Mendo Purple and Grape Ape... she showed me another couple strains, but I forgot what they were... they still had the Flat Top Purple for $60, but I didn't look at it because I know I'd be tempted to buy some.I picked up an ounce of the Mendo Purple. It was smaller nugs, dark purple. Pretty sure it's outdoor. Smoked some earlier and it had some of that "purple" taste. It's cool for the price. She also gave me a peanut butter cookie for free. yay.  i'll be back

Just another stop in my cannabis club tour. I have to say, I'm a little disappointed. Maybe it's just cuz this place has so much hype and so many great reviews.First and foremost they didn't have real menus for anything except edibles when I stopped by. I've since been told that they still do typically have menus, with different colors. I was hugely let down by this, but I'll go back and give them another try.Other than that the place is pretty decent. The door man was friendly, and the interior is nice. It's sorta weird that they don't have more tables or something, but I believe that you can't smoke here, so they probably don't want people hanging around.The medicine itself was high quality, and the price was good....so don't let that stop you from coming here. In fact, don't let me stop you either. I'm just hatin cuz of the non-menus. In reality, whether or not they have menus the herb is quality, the prices are chill, and the doorman was super friendly :)

Been out here a month and have spent more than  enough for them to accommodate my exchange, to where I was even willing to pay the difference. The Gold brand of cartridges has horrible suction, so I set IT aside,  went back the next day to purchase another brand that I usually buy, but were out of stock, so I just got some buds. While there an associate tells me, you can bring it back no problem, we want you satisfied, so I felt great about the dispensary taking care of my issue. She prints me out a copy of the receipt to have with me.  I came back, one of the associates is more than willing to assist me, but he HAS to get approval. I explain the situation, again, he then asks the first associate to take a pin to the bottom of the cartridge , step outside and see if it works. So we do, and it still isn't a smooth suction. But apparently it wasn't defective enough for the exchange, wtf. IT HAS HORRIBLE SUCTION, yes but policy is, blah, blah, and that it has to do with Gold manufacture, not them. As I leave irritated I let myself out not knowing their policy on exiting, and the security guard tells me"Your one time" as if it were a threat OR something, all thug like.  REALLY OR WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO "AXE" ME.? I always feel like a juvenile walking into that place, to point of feeling uncomfortable.  From ringing the door bell (wtf), OH but dont ring it when this one guy is there cause it sets him off,  "it annoys him." WHY IS PLACE RAN BY THUGS. Really had high hopes in finding a decent place to purchase my pot. What a horrible establishment.  But it looks like there's another dispensary BARBARY COAST DISPENSARY that LOOKS NICE. Just want a classy place where I can walk in without fearing who is going to answer the gate, which bud tender is right or wrong about returns, and yes where if I'm having an issue with a product its taken care NO QUESTIONS ASKED. ITS LIKE THEY'RE trying to mesh streets with class....LOL. And tell your employees that's its NOT PROFESSIONAL TO THREATEN YOUR CLIENTS WHEN EXITING.

Professional, friendly, compassionate, honest. These are the words that come to mind when I think about the staff at grassroots. Very secure, despite the neighborhood. Once a man tried to get me to buy flowers for him and the security was asking him to leave customers alone or he would involve the police before I could even mention it. They have a ATM with reasonable fees, sometimes they take cards (it's hard finding banks to work with in this industry).

Compare/contrast:While I got the opportunity I should compare this experience with my visit to The Green Door. Similarities: - rude/angry door guys.- Decent and affordable prices- quality meds- kind bud-tendersDifferences:The differences between these two places are like night and day. The Green Door has more of a club atmosphere...where Grass Roots has a more laid back and warm appeal. - Selection: Green Door has many more selections and strains on their menu.- Security: Whether it's bullet proof glass windows or rude door guys, GD has this sort of lock down feel...GR again is just more chill.- Policy: GR has some pretty strict policies, like the time limit with the bud-tenders. Now, they have that in place because some people just wanna talk about weed all day long, I suppose...GD is really more of a place that you go to when you know what you want. GD makes this easy because they...wait for it...- WEBSITE: Here's the real bottom line. GD has a great system in place where you can look at their current menu and specials online. So you just have to look up what you're interested in, walk in, purchase, and you're out the door in no time. GR has no website. No wonder you're there gabbing it up with the bud-tenders for so long. There's really no info on hand except for their menu that's in the club itself.So I've gotta give it to The Green Door on this one. Yes, despite their ridiculous bulletproof glass windows, and pretty female bud-tenders...but really, it's just a schtick...actually kind of funny in a ridiculous sort of way. If all that isn't your bag, then go to a place like Grass Roots, where it's just a bar table with stools, in a room...with weed in it.

First, this place is crawling with 5 stars on Yelp. Im curious if users ever went to other cannabis clubs. Before giving this place 5 starts. A friend of mines who used to come here a long time ago, suggested trying out their wax and bud and he said to check it out because of the selection(I'm no longer his friend after this visit. And he owes me dinner now) lol. After a review I heard from him a year ago, I finally decided to test my luck a year later . My first experience here was alright to say at the very least.  I checked in and barely received any information. There is no lounge, or parking. Most cannabis clubs I've went to in SF and out of Sf hook it up for the first time with a joint a sticker or something. Oh well I wasn't here for the freebies but definitely a club that doesn't hook up first time patients. Well since you went recreational it's all about $$. I looked at the selection and I've seen other places with better quality and selection. I am most certainly never returning to Grass roots and I would steer clear of my friends from this place because I know we only smoke top quality bud and After seeing what Grass Roots has to offer. I'll pass. However, I did have $22 cash, I grabbed a gram of some Sour OG. Recommended by the fella. I have to say it was okay, I used to grab some from Relief and get a better high , but for that price I could of got something better there. This place has a lot of 4-5 stars I'm happy for the people who put 5 stars experience for me a regular using medical cannabis patient, there's no love here for us.  This is just pushing me to let my fellow friends know you do have options. This place is the closer to me but when it comes to quality I don't mind having to go the extra distance. No bud no love

Worst fucking place ever. If I could I wouldn't even give it one star. As a patient Im  disgusted. Barbary coast is way fucking better, I'm talking employee wise.

Product is good and most of staff. Manager could handle disputes better. Last night saw one customer call another customer a racial slur just cuz the dude thought someone was cutting. The couple told him to chill, that they were together and to just mind your own business. Dude called the girl a racial slur and of course they both told him to F off. He replied the same. The manager comes over and says there can't be that kind of language in here.  Wtf. That's not how you deliver customer service and handle people. That crap is not cool with me. My buddies and I don't like that shit and we will go somewhere else where customers are treated fairly.

Friendly, neighborhood kind of feel with genuine employees that are always willing to offer suggestions.  Price is average and bud varies, nothing stellar Miss. Ingrid treats me well from time to time, but it is always up to preference and what effect you are looking for.  Not the best bud I have had in the city, but service and vibe tend to carry on through.  5 stars for consistency and friendliness.

I am a newbie so i cannot compare my experience at GrassRoots to other dispensaries ... All I can say is that I am not looking to compare yet. The medicine that I received from GrassRoots is top notch and my experience with the counter folks has been great. My questions have been intelligently answered each time I asked.I have received great recommendations for the conditions that I needed treatment for and I am a happy camper.Thanks

Great menu selection as usual. I thought I saw a visa/mastercard sticker behind the counter so I think they accept credit cards now for payment. I pay with cash though.

Almost walked right past it but keep an eye out because as a first timer, I had a great experience. So glad I picked this place because for being a first timer I got some extra goodies. Extremely pleasant staff, from the security to the bud-tender. Highly recommended, thanks guys!

The host Johnny was rude to me. If you want to be in customer service, leave the attitude behind.On Friday the 17th of June I came to the store and had a bad experience.I came at about 5 pm and parked my motorcycle in front of the store. I noticed the fire station next door. I asked a firefighter/paramedic gentleman that was parked there if it was all right to park here for 15 minutes. As I was ready to come in, Johnny at the door (african american gentleman with big hair), said to me in an unpleasant tone and attitude: "you can't park this here, if you gonna want to come in here, you got to move it. Move it". He was saying to me, if you don't do what I'm telling you, you are not coming in here. It was mostly the way he was saying it that was the most irritating. I did not say anything because I was so surprised by the way he talked to me. I'm almost 50 years old and I thought he was a very disrespectful young man. I did move my bike not to cause any problems and also because I came a long way to get there. This was hardly the "professional customer service" advertised in the Grass Roots website. If the store has issues with people parking in front, they should train the staff to deal with the situation more diplomatically and not tolerate attitude that will cost them money and reputation in the long run. I don't expect the world from the staff just because I buy a few things from them once in a while, but just normal, common sense, human interaction would be nice. A "please if you could move your bike, we have the fire station next door, you understand, I would appreciate, thanks" would have been enough. I'm upset enough to take the time to write this.I have been coming to that store exclusively in the past, but now I will take my business somewhere else and encourage my friends to do the same. There is too many good dispensaries out there for me to take any more attitude and verbal abuse form Johnny. Good bye.

High quality mostly in this place. Don't remember seeing too many, if any, mid grade deals. Hooked me up fat for the referral too. Good service and usually a short wait if there is a line because they call out more budtenders. Recommended.

I stopped coming here a few years ago and gave them another go about 6 months ago. Im glad I did. While I still think they are a bit overpriced,  the customer service is awesome and usually the selection of goods is pretty good. Im glad things changrd here.

Great spot first club I ever went too and still the best! Great selection very informative and the love customers care . I live in the valley but so worth the drive every time .

this was the first club i ever went to and after having made the rounds in the city i think it's safe to say that this is "my go-to spot". first off i like the atmosphere in there. very much like a bar with the stools and over-all set-up. there's a good one-on-one system going on with the employees and they are always very friendly and knowledgeable about their stuff. if i ever change my mind after asking for something they dont look at me like im an a**hole. its also in a good location close to my buses and i've always liked their prices and products and especially the variety. unless im in a pinch and am in some other part of town, grass roots is my spot.

Wasn't looking for buds.  Always go to Green Door for my ounce of gsc for 225, which is a bargain considering most places charge at least 350 for an ounce of gsc.  Not sure what Grass Roots charges for gsc but I think there buds are a little more expensive than Green Door.  However, Grass Roots tries to meet the needs of people who cannot afford really anything.  If your on disability receiving 1000 a month you really cannot afford to spend anything on marijuana.  Grass Roots does offer 7 grams of shake and 25 for an ounce of trim (I like to infuse coconut oil with marijuana for my 12 year old black lab Hurricane Katrina rescue  and was looking for trim but they were out, it happens, you cannot shoot the messenger).  Some clubs would not bother doing anything like that, so in my eyes that's a plus.  Malik provided excellent service and spent time talking about using marijuana for my dogs arthritis.  I didn't feel like he was not listening or rushing, it wasn't busy but Malik still actively listened and engaged me in thoughtful dialogue.  Will continue to go to Green Door for price but this was my experience and that's what this site is for.

Small cozy, shop. I like the setup. Excellent selection. Staff was friendly from the door security thru to the counter help. I like the vibe here, people were a lot friendlier than some of the clubs you go to. I'll be back

if you want overpriced as i call it "brownbonic" then look no further..like if you want to feel like summer camp or like some 15 yr old with some seedy shit then this place can recreate that for you even the feeling the need to ask yourself am i high even? Now if you want to actually get high and relieve your pain and symptoms then looking on the street would be a better option or just any other place... can not believe this shithole is open still and people will pay for this shit

I have been to Grass Roots a couple times - last year.  Today (7/7) I tried walking in, but was not allowed, EVEN AS A PREVIOUS PATIENT.  They needed to validate me AGAIN because they have NO INTERNAL SYSTEM whatsoever. The past couple years I have been dealing with extreme nerve pain affecting my whole body and fine motor skills.  Because I have a primary doctor, one I see once a month, they are not open Saturdays.  The doorman said if I went to the "pay for rec" doctor I wouldn't be having this trouble.  I was completely shocked.  How could they turn a previous DISABLED patient away? Why couldn't they look me up in their system? Why couldn't they accept my recommendation when there was proof on my paperwork that more than 3 other dispensaries PREVIOUSLY VALIDATED that same paperwork I brought in today?  The giant doorman who suggested I go to a green doctor was very unpleasant. The manager on-hand today was also not helpful. I can not believe there is a dispensary who does not have a database on their patients. Instead they go for a orange sticker that is placed on your paperwork -- which could be removed and placed on someone else's, allowing them to slip-in right in front of me. Ridiculous.  They have lost me as a patient (I'm only 29,) and I will tell everyone I know about the GRASS ROOTS DISSERVICE I experienced today.  You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. These kind of systems level problems are one of the MAIN REASONS DISPENSARIES ARE BEING CLOSED ALL OVER THE STATE.

I hate it how when I walked through the door  they hand me a clipboard full of questions/personal info for me to fill out and refused to let me in unless I did so. Plus very rude staff that answers the phone and $55 eighths claiming to be top shelf? I'm going to Green Cross where they blow them out of the water for $35 eighths. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

I'm new to SF and medical marijuana and recently I met a beautiful tattooed girl who said she use to work here (I wish she still did so I can see her face again). This spot was 1 of 2 clubs she recommended. The street was sketch but not too bad, trannies are interesting creatures i'm learning. The door guy was cool and quick to verify no hassle there. The spot is reminiscent of an old saloon bar that you walk up to and order a drink except for here its pot.Per the girls recommendation she suggested that I grab the Grass Roots brownie or anything made by them because they are hands down the best in the city and that they would kick my ass. She was very clear that I shouldn't eat the whole thing so I did. It tasted so good and she was so right! I regretted that later.The 2 stars are for the lousy service I received from the bartender. Either customer service is not in this dude's vocabulary, he woke up on the wrong side of the bed or he hates his job, dude chill out you work at a pot club! He was annoyed by my questions which sucked because they have a large menu of items to chose from. I really wanted to see the buds to choose but for every jar he pulled out he seemed to grow more irritable so I just picked one grabbed edibles and left. I WILL be back for those kick your ass brownies & I will try a different bartender in hopes for a better experience and raise the stars to 5 like it should be.

my favorite dispensary in the city.   nice people, , the doormen the bud tenders, are all super cool.  great flower selection as well as all the other things that make a dispensary great.a cheerful, happy place!!!

Overall this is a good dispensery with helpful staff and decent quality product. It's a good neighborhood Dispensery and has most of what you need.

Great club. Not the best hood, but safe and right off Polk. Next to a tranny club and fire station on Post. Very good selection and great staff.

grass roots has a great selection of buds, if your looking for something special or different and are willing to pay top dollar check it out.however many of the other products sold at grass roots are totally bunk. the blackberry kush oil is fake. it's listed as being tested at 83% THC but didn't get me even the slightest bit high and it smells nothing like cannabis oil when it burns. i think its just the vape flavoring junk that people add to nicotine vaporizers for flavor.i also bought some per-rolled joints at grass roots the mini pre-rolled are fine, good quality bud and well rolled but the "filtered pre-rolled joints" are full of low quality trim that has been run through a coffee grinder. the trim in these filtered pre-rolls is NOT medical quality and it gave me a sore throat. also they don't burn properly. i went back to ask if i could return the nasty pre-rolls because i couldn't smoke them and to let them know that the oil they sold as 83% THC didn't work at all and probably isn't even real and they told me they don't except returns/exchanges. the woman behind the counter was beyond rude.SF has many great shops, i can't believe anyone still buys from grass roots. You can find better medicine for much less and not have to deal with rude bud tenders.

Best club I've been to in SF so far.  This place does everything right.  They have a big selection, top quality goods, fair prices and very friendly, knowledgeable staff.  I got some Blue Lightning - not always available & it sells out quick.  This shit was good!  I also got some OG Kush,  which everyone carries but theirs was purple, stanky and a lot stronger than the usual.  GREAT CLUB!!!

I used to LOVE this place. The atmosphere is very cool. An old bar with stools and a counter. Good product. The last two experiences at Grassroots have been terrible. There is a clerk there- a dark haired tall dude with a crappy attitude. I walked out today empty handed because of his version of customer service- RUDE. He has twice made me feel stupid and totally ignorant of the medicine although I have been using since 1968 and know good product. The manager or owner must know that there are so many dispensaries to choose from - Customer service plays a very important part and YOU, my curly haired tall friend, will NEVER see me or my friends here again. Now that's 5 people I know- gone.Wakeup GrassRoots- you're losing market share and the way things are going- it doesn't take much to lose it all. Bye Bye

this place is great.  always friendly, knowledgeable and relaxed. contrary to other reviews the door Guy has never been short with me, always polite and friendly.  he probably notices I am loving the fact that I am here to do business and not hiding under the bridge in the park getting overcharged on a bag that is a gram light sold to me by someone who hasn't showered for a week.  just smile and you'll get smiles back.one more comment ... Obama leave our medical marijuana alone and get on with fixing our country!

This is definitely one of the most professionally operated medical marijuana dispensaries in the entire bay area. They are in a not so great area of the city, and their space is tiny, but neither of these issues ever hinder them from providing top shelf quality medicine at affordable prices to patients. As soon as you pass through the doors and get verified, you enter a proper pot shop. The staff is always nice, welcoming, and knowledgeable, and they aren't in a rush to get you in and out like others around. They always allow me to take my time when reading menus, smelling buds, and looking at crystals under the magnified lamp. I love it here, their prices are higher than many, but so is there quality. If you come here, be sure to try the exclusive Jackpot/ Blue Lighting buds  (Not Available Anywhere Else), both fire and really tasty. Also, if you feel like being baked into oblivion, eat any of the Yak brand products, I ate a whole greenie and lost a full day on the couch;watching the LOTR series. Love this place! Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable, and personable. They take the time to chat with you, find out what you need, and what's the best fit for you. They also give lots of free-bees and help you out if you're short on cash. Plus, the place itself has a speak-easy vibe...bar stools, leather-bound menus and damask wallpaper. They also have vegan and gluten-free edibles which is AWESOME. Even though I live on the other side of town, I will always make the trip to Grass Roots.

Always found this place to have good quality medicine and the bud tenders take the time to show and talk about the different kinds. They try to make something available for broke people like me, shake, etc.

This place is just the bees knees, hands down. Yes, it is not exactly in the best location, especially considering the "club" next door, however anyone who has been in the city for more than a few weeks will know that doesn't make it dangerous, as I have read from past reviews. Everyone that works there is friendly, eager to help, and genuinely happy with the job that they have. Yes, there is no internal system but that is not necessarily their fault. I believe it's a legal thing, but don't quote me on that. The variety is phenomenal, not just with flowers but everything else, and the prices are nicely varied so everyone can stay within their own budget. You can even walk in and simply ask for x dollars worth of x marijuana. Plus, the place just looks awesome on the inside. But I digress, Grass Roots is a fantastic dispensary, and I hope they stay for a very long time.

Good selection of buds, great people behind the counter and street parking is fairly easy. On a side note, the bud tenders are not your therapist so save the chit chat for some one else. All in all this place is a ten!

Took a trip to Frisco and decided to stop by this club after being disappointed with other clubs in the area.. (Igzactly) Glad I stopped here before I had left back to Sacramento. They accepted me as a new patient 15 minutes before closing which I thought was pretty dope since alot of clubs out here will turn you down if its a hour before closing. I was greeted at the door with a menu & signing up was super fast! The budtender was really cool as he showed me all the new products they have in & his personal recommendations. They make you feel comfortable and unrushed! These people are sincere all the way around, great meds, great people, and a great environment. I would highly recommend this club if you are in the area!

Went in as a first timer and didn't recieve any promotional goodies.. disapointing. Sort've overpriced but they did have some gems on the list.. Overall not my favorite.

Grass Roots was definitely what I was hoping for. It was cool bc it had it's own unique style. The way the place was designed and set up was very fashionable, yet simple. The guy that helped me pick out what I needed was very informative and was more than willing to give me some suggestions. I will definitely be coming back to this place.

Hands down one of the best cannabis clubs in the city! The staff is great, the selection is amazing and I love the menu's they have. This dispensary is extremely professional and know their stuff..i was happy with each selection and given great recommendations. The prices are a bit higher than others, but there are a few places i dont mind paying a little more...this is one, Vapor Room is another.

What a rip off....I went her yesterday...checked out their display cabinet with samples of what was in stock...after picking the Grapefruit romulan, which looked really nice in displayand ive smoked many times before the girl proceeds to open a jar of something that looked totally different and totally crap...I asked her why it looked so different and she replied with a "grunt"....I changed my mind and choose The Ingrid...The sample looked beautifully white and green in the cabinet..And AGAIN she opens a jar with something that looked completely different and crap....I ask her can i change my mind again, which was followed by another "grunt".....I finally discide to choose Trainwreck, which she proceeds to weigh me an 1/8...I get home to medicate, open the bag and theres 18 pebbles of bud...!8 pebbles?....in an 1/8?..Are you kidding me....It gets worse....The little buds were yellow from bud rot and you could also see where the trimmers had try to cut it out......Smoking bud rot can make you seriously sick btw....Basically this place is a rip off....

I have been to about 2/3 of the bay area clubs and after all this time, Grass Roots is still the best in quality and for the price.  With the spend over $50 discount, it makes 8ths the best place in the Bay to get ur meds.  Great selection of topshelf meds along with another great selection of concentrates.  Be sure to look down once your seated  to check out the full menu of edibles, candy's, pills etc.  Meds are weighted out before your eyes, and can smell and inspect meds before you by.  Great employees, if you are looking for hybrid strains GR is the best hands down.  I don't know if yelp allows me to type out strains but message me.  Grass Roots 5 stars.  If yelp gave out a special 6 star for one review, i would waste it on grass roots bc I love this place.

I have been going to grass roots since it was a small shop with old glass cabinets and the only thing it was decorated with was good intentions.  This is home, even though the inside has changed to a beautiful old world pub on the inside the important things have stayed the same - great budtenders, great bud, and a welcoming atmosphere! I live on the other side of town and tried many shops closer but the only place I would ever go now is Grass Roots!!

I would recommend it to anybody looking for a safe,clean,honest,friendly club The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable,not snoby like some places.. They have a huge selection of baked goods, including butter,olive oil,and Hash eatables too.Lots of strains. My personal favorite item is the mint breath spray.

This should be a staple for any patient in San Francisco.There isn't really anything negative to say about the club. The interior is nice, the bud tenders are extremely helpful and usually knowledgeable. The weed is pretty standard in price, good solid quality. The first time I went I picked up a gram of Chocolope, and I was more than impressed by it. If you pay more than $50 you get 10% off. Every once in a while they will also throw in an edible with your purchase. In addition, they have great hash and edibles. I picked up some G-13 hash that was the best I've gotten so far. You can also get really cheap $10/g tumble hash, which is always good for joints. As far as edibles go, they have ice cream, cookies (try the butterscotch oatmeal cookies), lozenges, chocolate milk, and all of the other standard stuff.What's also a plus is the fact that it's so close to both Sanctuary and The Divinity Tree. I recommend doing a loop and checking out all three. It will give you perspective and you'll have tons of weed after you're through with it.

Excellent experience!  This was my first time at any dispensary EVER.  I walked up and was initially intimidated by the gate, but any fears I had were immediately assuaged by the friendly doorman who had to "clear me" in the computer before I was allowed to go to the bar, but was really chill about it.  Justin called me up to the bar and I told him that I needed something for pain relief since I had a migraine today and my scoliosis had been pretty bad of late.  I don't smoke very much and I was unfamiliar with all of the strains he was showing me, but he never made me feel like a noob for not knowing my stuff or a scrub for not needing very much of it.  He was incredibly patient, friendly, and caring and even offered to split my half-eighth into multiple strains so I could try a few different ones for my first time.  After getting up close and personal with a few different jars, I decided I'd get half of something for the couch and half of something functional.  After he weighed it out in front of me, I had two happy little green baggies in my hand for $25.  I swear I've paid $25 for what was in just one of the baggies.  I felt like I was buying one and getting one free.  Then he said that edibles were really good for pain relief and hooked me up with a chocolate chip cookie.  I am one happy customer.  He warned that even though he usually eats the whole cookie, that I should probably only eat a quarter of one since I'm not a regular smoker.  I am so incredibly glad that I took his advice because I ate that little quarter of a cookie at about 2:30 in the afternoon and I swear I was still high while dreaming that night.  Incredibly potent stuff at very reasonable prices.  Friendly, patient service.  What more could you want?

Walked in this place expecting to find a nice selection of hippie clothes and was pleasantly surprised by a nice selection of hippie weed.  I have been a "patient" now for a little over a month and have been having fun traveling around with this weed circus and finding out all the gems this beautiful city has to offer.  But one thing I have noticed and maybe you guys can help me on this.  Why do some of the employees at these clubs think there shit smells like fresh linen on a crisp spring day?  Its like "I work at a pot club you just suck."  I would feel pretty cool too if I worked at one I guess but that shit pisses me off.  But I digress.  This place is the friendliest spot I have been too so far and more than likely will remain that.  All the guys here were super helpful and knowledgeable about their product.  Great prices too.

Great selections, nice prices if you get the discount.  I have visited here a few times to pick up edibles and some small head stash to ease my migrane head aches.  I really like how they store the medicine inside big mason jars!

Was on a little club break, and went back to Grass Roots today and boy did I miss the quality. I love their selection of unpressed hashes, wide variety of edibles and top shelf medicine. I never felt rushed even when there are others waiting. I got some Bubba Kush and a little GDP and some GDP hash. Can't wait to go back again.

I love this place. The people there are always so friendly and helpful. They have a wide range of flowers to chose from and probably the best bubble sheesh in the whole city for decent prices. And they never mind bringing out the whole cupboard for you to look at. Also, ask about the pre-rolls they have sometimes that come in the colorful tubes. They are simply amazing.

I make a special trip here when I frequent the city from Sacramento. Excellent help, consistently quality meds, and quick moving line. Definitely stop in and check them out...

Still love this place.  Super nice and knowledgeable budtenders, top notch extracts, free edibles that actually work.  Their oils are incredibly potent and their hashes are amazing.  Usually at least 20 types of bud and 20-30 types of kif/hash/oil.10% off over a certain amount, I think $50.  I always regret the few times I've gone somewhere else because they just treat me so well at Grassroots .

these guys know their stuff... they're pretty much the only club I go to since we met! Rusty and co make me smile.... that's (almost) all the medication I need.

Horrible customer service right of the rip. incompetent employees answering the phone. Very rude and unhelpful. No questions of mine where answered, couldn't even get a time to call back. I would compare their customer service with the taco bell drive through on a busy day. Disgraceful to the people and the cause!

This place is pretty awesome if you want to get your smoke on, or i'm sorry, if you want to "medicate." It's no Green Cross obviously, but then again sometimes you want something right away without having to order and think ahead...The staff is friendly, some of the people working there hook it up, some don't give you .01 more than you paid for (which is alright, I mean anything over is awesome but not required). But don't expect to get hooked up "mad" here (i.e. over what they advertise), if you're a regular you might land yourself a free edible from time to time.Prices are pretty decent, I mean they carry a good portion of $45 and $50 eights, but they also always have at least one strain at $25 (though usually not very good, I suggest spending the extra $5-10) and plenty of good stuff in the $35 range. They also usually have some sort of special, i.e. a $40 eight is dropped to $35, and its usually not below $35 on their specials.They also have a nice selection of hash and other concentrates. I think they start at $10, and the decent stuff usually starts at around $20. Always a special around as well, usually a $35/gram going for $20-25. They accept BOTH Credit and Debit Cards! Pretty awesome, especially the credit card thing for those trying to rack up miles or whatever while toking :-)

One of the first clubs i have ever been to and still by far the best, Grass Roots is always a must stop destination when I'm in the bay area. The herb is some of the best around and they always have a pretty hefty selection with prices ranging from $35 to $60 for eighths. They also carry a very nice selection of hash and edibles as well. I recommend the butter bros. Moo cookies for a great day or night. The staff here are amazing. I have never felt rushed or ignored here. All my questions are always answered and they are not above giving suggestions and recommendations either. Who would know better then the guys that work around the stuff all day every day? The place is small but it is set up for optimum foot traffic and efficiency. The furniture and counter are very classy and the place just has a general good vibe as soon as you walk in -the smell isn't so bad either.

Grass Roots is the gold standard for customer service, knowledgeable staff, quality, and variety of medicine. When you go to Grass Roots make sure to ask the staff some questions and enjoy the wealth of information they have and are willing to share about the worlds finest medicine.

I'm giving them 5 stars even though you can't medicate there. The staff is always very friendly and I have got a free edible on occasion. I recently got a grand-daddy purple clone. Can't wait til harvest. They have a big selection of buds,extracts and edibles. It's right in between the fire department and Diva's(tranny bar)! Only in San Francisco, baby!

If I could give it no stars I would. I purchased an eighth here on Friday, which by the way was $45 so not extremely high grade but anyways. I get home and smoke it it is very harsh and dry. I wait to feel a high and I don't. I had already smoked earlier of my last eight that I got from flow Kana so I didn't know if I wasn't feeling anything because I was still high. So I waited til the next morning and smoked again. Same thing. No effect once so every. Now I've had plenty of weed for less from places like medithrive green door or even green cross where you can get fire for $40. So the fact that I spent $45 for some medicine that didn't have any effect really doesn't sit well with me. I tried to return it and they said all sales are final. I am very disappointed and want some way to make this right. I will not stop until this situation is corrected by the owner or someone within the company. NEVER GO HERE

Stepping into this place is like stepping into a swanky bar on a cruise ship in the 50s. Leather bound menus, bar stools, and friendly budtenders. Quality products, reasonable prices. Edibles could be better but no biggie. Minus a star because I find it a little odd waiting in line to step up to the counter, plus there's no smoking lounge. Not a fav but it's unique and I like that.

UPDATE: They are still the best place in town.  Everyone at Grass Roots' is friendly and knowledgable.  I suffer from back pains and insomnia and Wanda, Nick and others (sorry I can't remember all of your names) always know just what to suggest.I've tried Divinity Tree, the Green Cross, Love Shack & the Green Door but they don't come close to Grass Roots.Older Post:I have been to a few places and Grass Roots is still the best.  Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and extremely professional.  Not to mention the number reason is their incredible medicines.  The Grass Roots' budtenders always know what medication will work best for my illnesses.  They also have the best quality and prices in SF.   Thanks Grass Roots, I finally got my life back.

My first time in a dispensary ever and it was really cool. The people were really nice and helped me figure out what I wanted and said we'd figure out how to tailor it to exactly what my perfect "medicine" is eventually.  He gave me a "special" free muffin as well- it was really good. The decor is really cool too and was really chill. Great place to go

Stopped by yesterday to check out this dispensary for the first time.  Sis got her recommendation Saturday this was the first place she went, so we both went back on Monday.  First of all, I used to live nearby, and this is not really the Tenderloin, more like lower Nob Hill, 'hood is ok. Found parking right out front on the street as it was a holiday.  Got checked by the kind gentleman at the door, and went in...I absolutely loved the feel of this place, very warm and cozy. The budtender at the end of the bar invited us over, and I said I was new here and sis's second time. He warmly welcomed us, and showed us the menu...a wide variety of buds, ranging from I believe $45 to $60 an eighth. You may buy any amount, so you can mix and match, they weigh right in front of you. Got some GDP which was a beautiful dark purple, and some Cheese...they were $50. Very high quality, nice choice of concentrates at great prices too...got 2 kinds of hash also. They give a discount for purchases over $50, and our very kind, knowledgeable and patient budtenter C. gave me a delicious kona chocolate bar as a treat since it was my first time.  Oh- great selection of edibles ~ yum!  I am from the east bay and will definitely be going back here for the quality, prices and love!Thank you Grass Roots!!  You guys are great ;-D

Felt very trapped and confined inside this industrial looking ex-bar. They made me wait outside for verification, and that just isn't handy at all. The bar like atmosphere is kind of cool. Really didn't like having to wait outside, though.

hands down the best shop in town..  the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and most importantly patient.  they are willing to chill and talk to you to make sure you get exactly what you need.  extremely high quality medicine not "tumbled" like Green Cross and others, always expertly cured..  top notch all the way.Love this place.

This place has treated me very well each time I have visited. Friendly staff that knows their stuff and a very comfortable setting.  Some people have said they don't dig the neighborhood but I can't really comment on that since I usually just pop in and out on my way home from work. I guess I've seen a few characters around there but hey, its the City.  I definately recommend this place. And if you are into edibles, I really recommend it.

Just got back from Grass Roots and I must say it was a great experience! It was my first time here and I was treated with great care. Very nice menu with great selections (picked myself up an 1/8th of Red Sox ;) They weigh it out in front of you and allow you to look at as much medicine as you want, under a very nice magnifying lens... I asked about their selection of edibles but didn't feel quite up to purchasing one, didn't matter though because the guy that helped me gave me a free one anyways!!  Clean, safe and a relaxed atmosphere. Can't ask for much more.

An awesome club! This was my first time going to a dispensary so I was a little nervous I guess- the doorman was friendly and easy going! I liked the interior- it was fun and funky. The budtender was super helpful, and I ended up picking up some delicious hash which has been keeping me up and motivated to do things! (I have ADD so marijuana effects me differently a little!). :) They were even nice enough to hook me up with a free hash cookie since it was my first time there! I will definitely go back to this place! Definitely A quality service, and great product!!

Much love for Grass Roots. Their prices are great, their staff are all incredible, and they carry a fantastic selection of edibles. Their 20-dose brownies are out of this world, and their Kief Sticks made for some beautiful  San Francisco sunsets over the past 3 weeks of gloriously clear weather!

So I changed my mind now. I give it 5 stars. The service has been considerably much better since last time I reviewed. They are always generous and very helpful. It's now my regular spot.

Best club I've been to. Super good medication, friendly knowledgable people, great selection, top notch edibles. I have never had a bad experience here and have nothing but good things to say about this place. Its definitely worth checking out if you haven't been here yet.

really its should be 3.5 stars. This place is solid. Takes  Green relief recommends.  I like the whole set up (its a old barr turned into a pot bar). Prices vary but most is gonna cost ya around 45 8th. They take time with ya as you pick-no attitude. Doorman is informative and no hassel. I wouldn't give it 4 stars because I' ve never gotten something from them that knocks me on my butt. However, they sell quality for the right price. None of these 1990 prices. 60 bucks a 8th makes me laugh.

The dopest club in the TenderNob.Grass Roots was one of the first clubs I ever really dug in the city, and now I'm lucky enough to live in the hood. This is the place to come if you're in the market for some quality medication and you're gonna take it to go - It's a smoke free facility. The buds are top notch, and they have nice little menus to confirm just that - color coded for your sativa/indica/hybrids, with THC percentages listed, which definitely helps aid in the decision making process. This place is my first stop for concentrates, and they accept credit/debit which is always a happy little surprise.Aaron is the man. Many thanks for recommending a joint that bested me. Lots of choices so I will give it another chance but I gave three stars cause the budtender was a jerk.

It's been a while since I stopped in here, but from my experience, this place has some pretty great Bud, but at a price that isn't cheaper than other, better clubs. The vibe is hella ghetto, since its near Tenderloin in Nob Hill (where I live). That's a good thing for me personally, so +1 star for that. Basically, their product is pretty good, their prices are average, and there are better places to go for your tree-related needs.

Little sad, first dispensary I went to after getting my rec. No freebie for a first timer and the chick behind the counter seemed like she was in a hurry more than anything even though it wasn't that busy. Bud is decent, little pricey for the quality but worth going to in a pinch.

This is by far one of the best places to get your medicine in the city. First, all the cannabis is really good. You can look at it with a magnifying glass, touch it, and smell it. The prices are correct and you get a discount when you spend a Benjamin or more. The parking and neighborhood could use a upgrade, but its still one of the best dispensaries in the city.

Changed my review as they refused to accept my valid letter from my Kaiser doctor. This came as quite a shock.  I switched to Green Cross (they deliver) and they've been great. I would not go back to Grass Roots.

I love this club because the service is amazing. They are very professional about their stuff and it made me feel like I was buying weed legally..lol. Unlike the other clubs were its nothing personal. I loved the girl that helped me, I cant remember her name. I dont think I got my money's worth, but oh well. This is my second fave club in SF

I'm pretty lucky to live so close to this place. They have great prices and quality medicine. Their selection is pretty good and I've never been disappointed with any of my purchases. Their budtenders are super helpful and patient and have always advised me greatly. This has become my go-to dispensary!

WARNING:  GRASS ROOTS CLINIC IS A NEIGHBORHOOD SURVEILLANCE CENTER!DENIED SERVICE!  Went to Grass Roots & was told at the door I could not come in, because a week earlier I had been seen taking a toke from my One Hitter several hundred feet from their front door.  I waited a month and went back.  While waiting my turn, I was asked to leave!  I asked, "WHY?" when the law said no smoking within 50 feet---not 200 feet.  I was told that they were surveilling everything within sight of their front door!Having lived in the neighborhood for over 30 years and never having had a problem with any business before, much less a beloved pot club, I know that I am being discriminated against.Grass Roots discriminates based on age (I'm 61), race (I'm white), and sexual orientation (I'm bi-sexual).  My response:  NO POT CLUBS WITHIN 50-FEET OF A FIRE STATION!

Due to my son's diagnosis of cancer, medical cannabis has been recommended as a way to increase his appetite, ease the stress and help with pain relief. SF General suggested that we try Grassroots and we could not be more thrilled with this spot. The staff are knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful and very willing to work with us to find the right combinations that will work. My son feels so comfortable talking with them and I (having never tried cannabis) am rapidly learning about the various ways to smoke and eat these products. All the staff are incredibly polite. The place is clean, bright  and well run. This is a wonderful find in the city and we feel very lucky to have been directed here.

This place has a good menu with variety in strains, as well as prices.The people here are knowledgeable about all the strains, and you can tell them if you want an indica, sativa, or hybrid, and they know what to pick out.They also are cool about free edibles, and they even gave my boyfriend a 3-dose strawberry cake for his birthday.Standard pick here is the Jackpot, which is a cross of SSH and something else, and it's reallllly good.They also have some 7$/eighth shake that's really good for cooking.I take off one star because I met someone who got robbed after shopping there, and they wouldn't call an ambulance for him when he asked them. And also because they are situated between a tranny club and a crackhouse, not that I don't like trannies but it seems to attract various extremely creepy non-trannies also.So I strongly recommend driving here to minimize your walking-outside time, or bringing a friend so you will have someone to have your back.

I feel like I must review this place since it was the first place i went when I got my card and also the first place i went when I got my card renued.  I been there 12 times in total and the "security guard" that lets you in is always nice and chill.  Kinda makes you want to go in when he says more than the usual "card and i.d...... alright................" but instead gives out good vibes that say that they want you in there.  Not once have i gone in and received anything less than enthusiastic service from the budtenders even on those times when i would go in right before they close.  What is weird though is for awhile they didnt take card but instead made you use the generic atm in the corner, which isnt bad except my bank card doesnt work with that one.... As for their buds.... well most of their top shelf bud has always been to my satisfactory, but when you start going down to the mid-grade and low-grade weed there is a noticeable drop in potency.  This can be a hassle when you expect to get really baked and you only get kinda baked.  This just means you have to smoke more of it. dont get me wrong I have never had any complaints about their bud, but the unpredictability of potency might be a problem for others on a low budget (similarly to myself :] ) Moving on to their edibles: they have one of the best selections of edibles I have seen in clubs around SF.  I have tried like over half of the stuff on the menu including the chocolate milk which was surprisingly tasty.  Now i usually have a pretty high tolerance for edibles in general but there super sativa brownies murder my mind in the best way possible.  I usually see plenty of fractals and trails in addition  to uncontrollable laughter, which is my favorite kind of high. They come in gingerbread and fudge brownie flavors and its worth a trip downtown to checkem out as i mainly only buy those edibles now. Thats how good they are.  Finally i want to talk about the complaints people seem to be having in their reviews about the sketchy location of Grass Roots.  Hell yeh its in a ghetto-ass neighborhood but so what, hmost of the club in san francisco are a stones throw away from some sketchy neighborhood.  Use your brain, you think they're going to put a dispensary next to your local elementary school or some shit. Come on.

I see I'm in the minority here, but I thought the service was terrible.  First off the big guy yelled at me for walking in and sitting down at the counter.  Hello - there was no one there!   Stand against the wall till you're called was his power-trip explanation.  We proceeded with his rules and got started.   When I inquired about the different types of product and how they were different from one another, he really showed his ass.   I was relying on him to guide me based on my needs, but he was no help at all and acted like a big baby.    I'll never go there again - who needs the abuse?

Not the most warmest dispensary when it comes to customer service. But the selection is wide and varied. The location is a little dicey as it borders the edges of the Tenderloin.

I like grass roots a lot.  It was my first dispensary and will always have a place in my heart.  That said, I have found plenty of others in and out of the city that fit the bill nicely too.  Most of the staff here are friendly, the tip jar keeps growing, but it left me wanting less headship and more pharmacy.  Takes all kinds, and this is one.  Highly recommended.

Before I started my own collective, this place was like my 2nd home!! Super chill staff, good prices, and good bud. Grass Roots is definately the best storefront dispensary in this city hands down! Wow! I love this place! After I got my some what sketch evaluation at Priceless I went over to check this place out. Right on the corner of Polk and Post. It  had such a chill atmosphere inside, kinda set up like a bar. The staff was busy, but very friendly, and helpful. It was my first time inside a dispensary, and the guy really took time to explain to me the different strains, and helped me pick out the right one for me. Great prices too! Thanks Grass Roots! I will be back!

Best dispensary I have ever been to, hands down. Love the menu set up, the interior set up, and the overall vibe. Budtenders are always awesome.  Meds are always plugged and of high quality. I recommend this place to everyone!!

i'm not sure why this place gets such high marks.  the prices seem normal to me, nothing special, and in fact they don't often have something to accommodate those of us on a really tight budget.  i will say, however, that they do usually have a good selection, including of edibles.  most of the staff is friendly and helpful, but one or two could use some basic training in common courtesy.  and to be honest, i always thinks it's a bit odd when a place that describes itself as a medical dispensary has no drinking water for patients, nor a bathroom.

After reading up online, I chose Grass Roots for my first visit to a medical marijuana dispensary. I was a bit nervous, and didn't want the experience to seem like a back-alley drug deal or that I was being pressured into anything; & it wasn't like that all. The biggest problem I encountered was just being overwhelmed by the selection. After telling her what I liked, the woman on the other side of the old wooden bar made a couple of suggestions that I was happy to go with. It was a pleasant experience. Definitely a Five Stars experience- like stumbling onto a flying car dealership or something- but having no basis for comparison i give it a full-on four.

weed was not dried properly, still sweating in the plastic bag after being left in the sun for 30 minutes while smoking a few bowls with friends.the bag literally got cloudy. not cool. their selection is alright, nothing to die for, prices are around the same as other top notch clubs, though i wouldnt consider grassroots top notch. if you want quality and quantity check out BASA, apothecarium, or sparc. the first two mentioned weigh it out in front of you and you can ask for a certain dollar amount, just like grassroots, BASA doesnt charge tax, so thats a bonus, and they have some awesome 1/8th for $25. there are much better places than grassroots and i wouldnt go there unless in a real pinch

Yeah this place is good -- very good selections, good varieties, consistent.  However, some of the dudes have mad attitude.  I asked a couple of questions about the clones I bought from there and the guy just kept shrugging his shoulders -- he couldn't bring himself to say "I don't know".  Also, I asked if there was a strain he could suggest - I bought it.... and it was only mediocre - he just didn't give a shit.  It bothers me when places start getting busy and they think it gives them the right to be assholes.

This is my favorite dispensary so far in the east bay. I went here for the first time last week & was more than satisfied. The doorman was friendly & greeted me w/ a warm smile. He was having difficulties trying to connect to the hotline to verify my cannabis card, but it was just cuz of the lines being busy on the phone. But in the mean time I was still able to sit at the front while the budtender introduced me to their menu. The budtender was very nice, helpful and informative. He was eager to help me find out exactly what kind of meds I was in need for. Taking out any strain I wanted to view, I had like 4 mason jars on the table at the same time. The quality was pretty good & the prices were great. They had restruant-style fold out menus. Nice variety of buds, hashes, & edibles. The layout of the place is pretty cool too, the bar style kinna reminds me of the tv show "Cheers". Before I left the budtender says, "here you go buddy. since you didn't ask" & hands me a free rice crispy edible. I assume a lot of ppl come in expecting something free lol. I thought that edible wasnt that strong, seeing as it was free, but man that shit had me pretty baked. I picked up an 8th of some topshelf AF Wreck for $50 & a gram of OG Kush hash TAX INCLUDED. Overall a great experience & the prices that go along w/ the quality will have me coming back again & again, even if I have to take bart all the from Richmond.

This is one of the few places that gives price breaks on high grade. Super nice staff and good quality nugs. The edibles for six bucks are pretty strong if you eat them on an empty stomach. Strong weed for 108 a quater comparible to 120+tax at bpg or other places. Great deal and worth the trip across the bridge and still cheaper than shopping in the east bay. One of the best in the state.

The best!  All the bud tenders are great.  Especially love Mookie.  He's incredibly sweet and extremely helpful with a lot of knowledge on the medical side of things.  I read some of the negative reviews and can't relate to any of them.  I don't understand how anyone would dislike this place.  Be sure to buy some edibles from the Baykery.  Megan used to bake exclusively for them but has gone out on her own, selling to other places.  The Mayan cookie has to be one of the best...it's unusual with a hint of cayenne, some cinnamon, and the deepest darkest chocolate.  Truly amazing.  And it will make you feel sooooooooooo good.  If that sounds too spicey, try her brownies...like eating rich, buttery chocolate.  You won't be disappointed with any of her edibles.  Grass Roots is also very generous and frequently provides me with something new to try for free. I've tried other clubs but I've been spoiled by Grass Roots.  Everything else is just "okay" compared to this place.  I also love that it's next door to a Fire Station and a transvestite night club!  The neighborhood is very "city" and "yes", there are some sketchy characters around at times, but the security at Grass Roots is excellent.  I'm a senior citizen and have never run into any problems.  I recommend this place to everyone.

I checked this club out yesterday and I have to say that im a fan!!! They have a friendly atmosphere and there staff is very knowledgeable about there product. I picked up some Master Kush for $50 an 1/8th and some Candy Skunk #2 Crystals for $25 a gram, both were pretty good.

One of the coolest dispensaries you will find.  The atmosphere is pleasant and relieving.  The medicine is also of high quality.  Go here and you won't be disappointed.

They get 3 stars bc of their selection of products but in terms of customer service the only attentive person was the man at the front door who greeted us and got us checked in. My bud tender was not attentive nor did she acknowledge that it was my first time coming into the dispensary. I ended up asking if there was some sort of rewards system and she had a confused look on her face then said yes I'll get you set up after I ring you up which didn't end up happening. With all the options in the city, I think I will go some place else next time.

Hubs knew already what he wanted but he actually noticed a few unusual strains he wasn't familiar with. Don't feel buying cannabis from Grass Roots is confusing or intimidating, because folks are here to help and answer your questions. From the moment you wait outside- a very methodical and robotic employee checks everyone's ID- then the Grass Roots experience begins.You're asked to sit on their stools, wait a bit, you form a queue and wait a bit more, then you're close and personal with someone. Ask all you want but if you're in the market for more product, Grass Roots uses a tablet system so you can browse and go over the menu, which includes descriptions, flavors and THC and CBD content. I also got some Dark Chocolate edibles to keep me company while I'm here. Price was a bit up there for hubs' pre-rolled items and my edible. So fear not, this was an ok spot.

I was scheduled for a job interview with you today and showed up early to get a feel for the place. In the 20 minutes I was there, I was literally spoken to by only one of the four employees on the floor, despite the fact that only one other customer entered in the whole time I was there. One guy actually rolled his eyes and walked away when I asked him what he Loved about working here. The Budtenders were so lax that three people were lined up outside and not getting let in because no one was manning the door despite there being no customers currently being addressed. Another interviewee literally had to inform one of the Budtenders that a delivery had arrived because no actual employee could be bothered to greet anyone at the door. I have never seen such a lack of effort, work ethic or customer service in any dispensary, maybe any retail establishment of any sort. I cannot imagine ever visiting this place again, let alone working there.

I was totally impressed with the helpful bud tenders at Grass Roots. They answered all our questions, gave us great advice and suggestions based on what we told them we were looking for. And I loved their product! Would highly recommend Grass Roots to anyone, but especially if you don't really know what you're looking for.

Super cute place and friendly staff. I got a Pure Beauty pre roll and I loved it . The location is small but it has a good variety of items to select from .

I've been here a handful of times & it's always a positive experience. Knowledgeable staff that are all friendly & easy to talk to. 10/10ATM right inside - the options are all laid out on the iPad which is easy to see everything.
