Literally had better experiences buying pot in dark alleys from strangers. Why list gram pricing and not have them available for purchase? Terrible service and you are herded in like cattle.Edit: +1 point for quality product. - 1 point for discrepancy of cannabanoid profiles in case vs. what was purchased.
They currently have 1 pre- rolled available to recreational users and it's called Canna-Tsu. Even the budtender told me its dominant in CBD and very lo THC. So basically don't expect to get "high." So great, thanks for my medicinally geared pre-rolled that is catered more to the medicinal world. As a recreational user, I don't want something that's CBD dominant. And the fact that this is there only option to recreational users (now) ....is awful sales tactics. They need more recreational options!!!
Just left this place, came in for some guidance to help with ptsd and anxiety. "Budtender" 42042 could not have given less shits. Barely any eye contact, and when you got it, it was with a completed look of boredom. I'm sorry that I'm not educated in your products, is that not what you're here for? If you know what you want, perhaps this is a great place. All the edibles were out of stock, so I was now buying bud, which I wasn't prepared for, so a little patience would have been nice. Drove almost 4 hours, and to spare her being anymore annoyed with me, I made a purchase with no idea what I've bought, or if it's right for me. Perhaps the medical side is better, but without a card you're treated like an obnoxious stoner. Some of us are here for help, maybe try not making us feel like crap for it?
I REALLY want to give this place higher reviews, especially because the flower is quality stuff, staff is nice enough, and I love Salem....BUT. Here's why they can do better:-It's cash only. So many wasted ATM fees. -They run out of things QUICKLY, and inventory changes way too much; there has to be a better system to keep the same types/quantities in stock for at least a minimum amount of time. Or at least always have a minimum of each form available (e.g. always have both a CBD and a THC pre-roll available, always have hybrid, indica, and sativa flower available in all sizes, etc.). I've waited in line only to get up to the counter and find what I wanted to buy was sold out too many times, and have even left to go to Lowell's Patriot Care instead. -Their oil cartridges are super inconsistent. I've purchased the same "brand" and amount cartridge 2 weeks in a row, and 1 week it will be filled to the top and last all week and the next week it will be barely 3/4 filled and last 3-4 days. -They almost NEVER let adult users purchase edibles or chocolate, it's mostly reserved for medical card holders only. -Some of the staff can make you feel a bit uncomfortable i.e. like they are law enforcement or something when you're in the waiting area-- calm down a bit, folks. You're not wearing a badge, and even if you were there's no need to be rude/overly aggressive to people in line to get munchies. -Tax isn't included in their prices so it's a guessing game until they total it up for you.If it wasn't in such a great location, I would probably go elsewhere but since it's all we've got, I will continue to support them and hope they get a liiiiittttle better, especially when it comes to product offering and consistency.
Alternative Therapies Group I'm shocked at the bullying and sudden discrimination that I was subjected to at this dispensary that I've been patronizing regularly for over a year now Some of the management like Derek and Jason and others are great!! Compassionate, friendly and understanding and I've never before ever had a single issue!!But it's very disheartening with all we have happening in the world right now, a couple of employees would mock and utter nonsense under their breath to me as management is walking away just out of earshot.Apparently some employees at ATG are not on the same page with policies set forth by management.. and treat customers poorly because they're guided by their own opinions.Or it's possible that management doesn't communicate with employees.. (?) I'm not sure where the disconnect is :(I'm absolutely shocked at what occurred last week and I will be sharing what happened to me far and wide.
I have been going here for the past year or so.... maybe a dozen times. I looked on line for "Death Star" and it said the Salem store had both the pot and the pre-rolls. So, I go there and they said they do not have it. Sadly, it is a hot item and ATG just does not stock it well. As soon as they get it, it is already sold. The lack of variety has gone downhill since last year and so many items are out of stock. Now I can see why there are no longer long lines here as many will go over the border of Massachusetts (up north) and get it....even cheaper than here. Afterward, go for a nice lunch. Also, I do want to say that almost all of the employees that have waited on me are very pleasant and most are knowledgeable of the products. I hope this place starts getting better stock.... if it had, I would of gladly given it five stars. I will try this place again next week and see if it gets any better. Even a lot of my friends that used to go here, now go up and over the border... as they too find something on line and then when they arrive at the dispensary 1/2 later..... they are out of it. THAT IS NO WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS.
Everytime I come to this location I leave dissatisfied. Their system is constantly down and product is always out of stock despite what the employees or website say. We have to pay rec prices as a med patient because your system is flawed and broken? Fourth time coming here today for my medical patient and it will be my last one. The worst dispensary in massachusetts in my "expert" opinion. Do not waste your time at this location. It is literally a joke. The place has no professionalism whatsoever. They do nothing to remedy a situation that could easily be taken care of. I would leave 0 stars if I could
Do not go here if you do not have extensive knowledge of cannabis. I sent my dad here who was looking for help to cure insomnia. He isn't familiar with all of the jargon and asked a bud tender for help. They treated him like an idiot for not knowing exactly what he wanted, difference between sativa/indica etc. Then they sold him a super concentrated oil with no instruction on how to even use it. I am a very regular user and I couldn't even figure it out. We had to YouTube it and it was almost impossible to get the oil to squeeze out. I am so disappointed that someone looking for medical help with cannabis would be treated this way. This is an incredible substance and can help so many people, but not if they are not being educated on it. I would return the item if we hadn't already opened it but now we just wasted cash for nothing. So so upsetting.
I truly wish I could give ATG Salem a better review. I love the staff and have never had a bad experience with them. Most are knowledgeable and personable and very clearly enjoy their jobs. That being said, I don't go to the dispensary just to enjoy the staff. This review is for the company and in no way reflects the employees...My biggest complaint is that the menu is never updated. I'll drive there looking to get a sativa strain (indica makes me too tired). At least 3 out of 5 trips I get there and there's nothing available but 2 or 3 types of indica. I'll be standing at the counter with the menu pulled up on my phone, and it clearly has many more options than what's actually there. The only positive is that for the last two months it has been practically dead in there. The last few times I've gone in there was literally no wait at all and I was able to walk in and go right up to the counter. I think this is because people are realizing that you can find better quality bud, more selection and cheaper prices just a short drive away.Lastly, my favorite cartridge was the O.pen vape spearmint. Not sure why they stopped selling it when they started selling cartridges again.ATG Corporate Office.... It's time to adjust. You're no longer the only local resource. The next time I need to re-up, I'll be going somewhere else.
Flower strand choices not nearly as good nowToo bad no sky walker or anything similar anymoreI have not been through since they stopped with these and focused on recreational Waiting for those to return
Please read!!! You can save yourself some money and a headache! Look at their 1star reviews! YELP TOO. They are terrible. So many in the past year and it's clear why! You'd think during these times this would be your best service.Upon first entry it looks nice. They don't really have much. Why I am leaving a 1 star review is for a few reasons. 1) It's a rushed process, they just want your money. You can't even look at what you are buying. 2) I got an eighth and a preroll.. for starters the worst preroll I've ever had from a dispensary. It was so tight I unrolled it and rolled it into a cigar. (I'm sure I'm not the 1st, and it made even made my mouth itch...) 3) IT WAS THE WRONG EIGHTH!!!!. I couldn't even look at the receipt because they seal it in the bag. (Sketchy) once I noticed which was when I walked out and got to my car I quickly went back in to exchange. The manager said he couldn't. Imagine going to the doctors you get or ask for a specific medication and he gives you the opposite. Crazy. That shouldn't happen. This is the same scenario WHEN WE ARE PAYING OVER 50 AN EIGHTH WITH TAX WE SHOULD GET WHAT WE WANT! IT WAS YOUR MISTAKE, AND CARELESSNESS...I SHOULDNT HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING I DIDNT WANT! Your customer service is whack. Everybody I hangout with uses cannabis, and I will tell everyone I come across to never go to this shop.P.s. I even had a business owner after I left that saw this unfold while I was in there tell me it wasn't right and if it was legal he would have bought it from me there so I can get what I wanted...Shit business.
We visited from Texas, and had already gone to another dispensary, but this one was so convenient and quick. It is adult-use (recreational) and medicinal, which provides quicker service and wider selection. From the easy line to the on-display selection, the whole process was great. Just have your ID and CASH ready, if it's a bit busy expect a line and a bit of a wait, but otherwise you get your menu and a super helpful friendly staff as well. The super lemon haze will have you floating all day. But there's always something for everybody! If you're in the area, worth it!
Such a disappointment. Nothing to be found in the experience that could be fun, informative or exciting about visiting the first recreational marijuana store in eastern MA. Extremely limited product selection, if you've ever shopped in other rec legal states. No edibles sold recreationally. The only vape cartridge available was a vanilla cake flavored (not a strain, a flavor) indica. No show cases to display product. No menus available while you wait in line. No descriptions of any product beyond the bare minimum. No attempt by your teller (this place feels like going to bank, which I guess if you're the owner, it is) to explain any of the products, which they take from a shuttered black cabinet behind them. It should be so much better than this.Good points: appointment system works for managing parking and lines. The pre-rolls I got were fine.
I was fortunate enough to visit during one of the last weeks of December, and of course, with the recreational purchase limits, could only purchase a very expensive 1/8th of flower. It was probably the most expensive 1/8th of flower I've paid for in 10 years, but the flower was indeed pretty high quality, so it felt OK. However, they're completely botching their extremely lucky opportunity to be an early player in the MA legal marijuana industry, and to their credit, we do have to recognize the huge amount of hurdles of the state commission has been placing on operators. The reason I feel compelled to write this is a few reasons, one of their primary parking options is literally encouraging people to park in the bike lane all along a road just outside their location, in addition to an offsite lot. I have zero idea how the City of Salem or ATG thought this was a good idea. As a cyclist, this does nothing but make me angry towards the establishment, and the city for apparently allowing this. And then they go ahead and literally blow their ability to sell recreational products at all through mismanagement. Shameful. I cannot WAIT to have better choices.
Never going back. Since when did weed cost $451 per ounce? NEVER. Massachusetts dispensaries are ripping us off to the tune of TWICE as much as other states. Do yourself a favor and shop online elsewhere. A simple GOOGLE search will find you retailers offering a larger selection at 50% the cost of this place. By the way, staff here are a bunch of jerks too.
Pretty good place.. first visit was horrendous! Their computers or printers went down for hours and didn't even offer us 10% off or something , anything at all would of made me a little happier as I'm a good customer (go to NETA 3-4 times weekly spending $30 a day minimum) when I find a good place I stick to it! Anyways the next few visits have been good and that's why they have earned 3 stars!! Good buds, better prices than other dispensary's so far! Blaze up!
First, I was shocked by how large this place is. Second, it is incredibly clean. But for the smell of the product, you cannot find a cleaner establishment on the North Shore. Shadiest part of the experience was the front check-in. Guy was pleasant and very clear about the rules. Very professional if a bit rough-around-the-edges looking.I expected troubled parking/access and a long wait. There was ample, easy-access parking, and the wait was perhaps 10 minutes (probably shy of that). Service was friendly and attentive. Person I dealt with understood the product, explained it clearly, and was very friendly. She was also quite funny. Wasn't sure what to expect, but all rules were explained pleasantly and quickly. Order was filled with efficiency and pleasantness. I was curious how the product would be packaged (having only seen these operations on TV). It could not have been more professional. Product was neatly and officially packaged, and placed in a very discreet zipper bag, with a tamper proof seal added. Price was, well, high (literally, the perfect number for the purchase), but that's the price of executing this transaction legally. One of the most professional point-of-sale interactions I can recall. Most similar, somewhat ironically, to purchasing firearms at KTP. No stink operation. No skulking. No protesters. Not sure what I was expecting, but this was flatout pleasant. Hell, I want to go back.
1st time will be my last time! Horrible welcoming. While standing at the counter I asked about a menu I was told " It's on the website you can pull it up and I'll go over it with you". Then their Wifi was a bit slow. I felt by cooing in I inconvenienced her. Rude
Always a pleasure coming here. I am from New Jersey and have made the trip up twice now.Big bud selection to choose from. Edibles are ok. If you buy 1 ounce you get a discount, and you can mix and max strains!
I would recommend recreational users save their time and money and find a dealer the old fashioned way. Everything is nice and clean and professional but it's super pricy and there's very little to choose from if you're not a medical card holder.
I refuse to stand outside in a parking lot in 90-degree weather. You gonna make me stand out there with its 4 degrees and a foot of snow too? Imagine having to stand outside at the liquor store, or the grocery store. No thanks.
Over priced, not much option, but atleast it's an option. I'm from cali and this place is wack compare to all shops I've been too..only go here if u have no other option
Very Expensive otherwise not bad. Some good strains like granddaddy purp, Skywalker, super lemon haze and Durban poison. There was a short line and the service was fine. Again the prices are def inflated and it cash only but they have atms on site.
Long-time customer usually have an awesome experience with all of your bud tenders however visited today and met with a miserable person no personality and useless when it came to product info How can you be miserable in a place like that If you work there than you know her just sayin
i have been a loyal customer for a while now. i am very happy to see that atg has stepped it up & added an incentive to continue coming back to salem's dispensary. loyalty points.to all who were involved i feel appreciated. id already asked the question throughout the summer months & you've delivered.thank you, paul
Reason for 1 star is simple , I drive 40 min to get there and I got right in. Went inside and I wanted something else so I was short in cash. Went out to the ATM to get more cash and they did not let me back in saying you can only come inside one time even though I needed more cash and I did not purchase anything. None of the workers understood and I was left without anything after I drove about 40 minutes to get there. They need to figure a way to know when and if someone purchases something. I wasted my time and if the owner wants to contact me I'll tell him the same thing and my mind will not change about that. I will find another place to go for my bud. I usually do not give any reviews, but when some bullshit like this happens I have to speak up
With or without COVID, the manager Becky is rude, unhelpful, and a straight up asshole. And judging from the yelp comments, the whole place is falling apart. Starts with the management, please consider appointing new management.
Really lovely staff, the strains change every few weeks or so. I usually order online so all I need to do is wait in line before I walk in. Once you're into the location you must scan your license or your Passport for a few seconds and wait until you're called into the store. They will let you know where you should go and what circle to stand at to be served by a cashier. They'll ask you to confirm your name and read your order out to you. Cash only - I recommend rounding up the cash and have them keep the change, they pay it forward.
Poor selection, old product, high prices, hard to find. This place has now resorted to giving discounts to customers who post 5 star reviews on Yelp, Google and Weedmaps!!!!I will stick with NETA in Brookline until NETA opens closer to me.
I was in and out of there in about 5 to 10 minutes. Great selection of products for adult use, you just need a license or govt ID.
I wouldn't recommend this place to a non-medical adult customer. They opened before recreational was approved. So, I get it, they cater to the existing medical customers they've already had.But I was excited to visit a place and have a shopping experience. Buy different stuff on different visits, really figure out what I like... We're not there yet folks. This is the only approved recreational place on the north shore and it's really for medical users. On three visits, they've been completely out of sativa flower. You wait in line for 45 minutes only to get to the cashier and find out they don't have what you want. Choices? I've never visited and had a choice of strains. They might have 1, take it or leave it. And on most visits, it appears their stock was just one strain in the first place. Unless something from the state messes this up, I think their order management is screwy. If you are constantly out of something, that should tell you to get more inventory. And if it's because they are hoarding it all for medical, then that's a different managment problem.Until better options open, visit your favorite guy.
Easy to get to, very straight forward and professional in regards to procedure. However the quality of the Cannabis is disappointing. 5/10 at best. I hope medical applicants are receiving better options.
As newer dispensaries open closer to me, I. Realized ATG is the best in variety, availability, and consistency. The newer dispensaries are in such a hurry to open many locations, $$ , they are Always out of product. I would drive 20 minutes each way to find no parking , they had 3./4 Sativa flower strains , no prerolls, so I would leave frustrated. No Product!! No medicine! Not cool. ATG is consistent since they opened, only getting better! Thanks!!
I remember when I'd go here once a month for my medicine. Then they decided they can make more money by pushing the patients that kept them in business for years before aside. No more good selections, no more sales, never enough inventory, menu is rarely updated, you always leave with less than you wanted to buy due to their bad inventory and lack of updating their menu in real-time, etc...Now they are out of flower? But it's the states fault I guess, atleast that's who they are blaming. Ok, whatever. I'm glad this happened to them. You sold out all your patients for recreational. Next step I hope is you don't recover from this set back. I'm just glad I don't have to drive that far anymore for my medicine. Many more choices are popping up every day
No reserve ahead and terrible inventory. I find myself going and leaving frustrated 80% of the time.NETA is significantly better run than this group.
I honestly thought this was a decent enough dispensary but after picking up the super sour skunk I will not be coming back here. How did this place get the only recreational license in the Boston area? I've been here four times and they're constantly an hour behind on appointments due to overbooking, the menu is always incorrect, but after going from Gorilla Glue (34%thc) last week to Super Sour Skunk (they claim 18% but the package does not say) which honestly tasted like outdoor homegrown and had giant leaves in it, I am 100% done with this place. Bait and switch. The inconsistency in quality and overbooking is a red flag that this company is putting profits over patients. It's a shame because the people who work there seem very nice but if they can't keep more than two subpar strains on the menu they need to get into another business. Step it up! All the other dispensaries I've been to destroy ATG in quality it's not even close.
As just about EVERYONE has stated......poor selection and quality is not even close to other stores. Cultivate's flower is 10x better than this place easily! What a letdown :(
Update: seems to now be open for recreational but my point remains that previously, I was not informed of these recreational sales issues even though I properly set up an appointment with them and made plans to visit, dedicating half a day for the trip. I even called from the parking lot asking about the shuttle bus schedule but was only told there was no flower upon arrival.
Don't trust the employees! Check your orders after they are bagged!! We were charged $60 for a flower we didn't even receive. After contacting customer service multiple times (when they promised a response within 24 hours) with no solution, we are extremely angry with this poor demonstration in business. This is a field of business that will soon become over-saturated. ATG will not stand out for their reliability, trustworthiness, or customer service, which will utimately make then fail as a business as soon as there are other options available. I urge other marijuana businesses to start up in this area... You will succeed as long as you are an honest, responsive company!
Earliest closing rec dispensary in the state. No reserve / order ahead. The products shown on the website are rarely the products available in the store. Notoriously bad at selling out of pre-rolls, and lastly does not allow you to buy in gram amounts, if you want flower you'll be paying $60 an eight after tax's. I have been to 3 other dispensaries and they were in a completely different class than this place. Do yourself a favor and head to NETA in Brookline or just call your local plug..
I'm new to Mass and out of all the ones I've been to(Lowell, Leicester, Boston) Salem has been my go to. I'm from California so there definitely was an initial shock of how things are done out here. I get Medicinal patients should get a break, but special access and offers? That's ridiculous. In California there is no special line or menu for medicinal. Half those people don't even have a legit reason to have the card. But if catering to them is their priority, I respect their rules. But they are secluding most of their business by treating Rec users like 2nd class citizens. Here are my suggestions to first time visitors: #1, don't bother looking at the menu or display case in advance. Just wait to see the menu at the actual counter. 90% of the time, they don't have whats on the menu or display case. It will save you any expectations. #2, the flower is actually good. It's pricey, but it's high potency so it will last longer than some black market stuff. #3 go early during the week, and most likely will avoid a long line outside. The bud tenders are hit or miss. Some are super friendly and give great suggestions(thanks Dylan!) and some act like they are creating penicillin and you're wasting their time. Just hang in there, and kill them with kindness. For being the only dispensary in this area, it could be a lot worse.
Favorite dispensary. Best selection of flower that I've found. Great service, super helpful staff. They did a great job rolling out recreational so medical patients weren't really impacted.
Prices are way too high for all the unpleasant strains they sell ... buds are dry and they sell the unwanted stock people don't want .... Fuck the city of salem
This place is simply amazing ! The staff is so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Store is very clean and organized definitely couldn't of asked for a better experience. Thank you ATG Salem, much love.
Great service amazing staff and Security no issues .. I was help out with any questions the staff was helpfull .. Place was very clean.. Plenty of info and the pacages were greatly packaged tightly and very easy to store and package agin
I give the staff and the facility 5 stars; but the product? Well, that depends on your timing. At least a dozen times I checked the website during the day and found a strain I wanted stating 'Medical and adult use'. When I check again shortly before leaving work to head over there, the strain I want is now listed as just medical. Later, after passing it up, I check again and it's back to medcial and adult use. I think the webmaster is sampling the product. Apparently, they keep so little on hand that they have to reserve it for medical patients. I'm far from the first one to bitch about this problem. How difficult is it to realize when a strain is moving fast and restock? C'mon guys you can do better, and you better do better with Insa now just ten minutes away on Highland Ave.
I have spent thousands here. I went in, (the last time I'll set foot until that manager is removed), anyway, went in to make them aware that there was yet another issue with their vapes. I wasn't asking for anything at all, I should have known from my first return I would not be respected. She got defensive and talked over and through me. Even the clerk was raising eye brows. I returned about $200 worth of product before as well, with not even a sorry in return. But I swallowed that since I was letting it slide due to convenience and I like the employees. Not this time. She has the people skills of a pant suit. And she might as well wear one too with her tacky self. She has no business in retail management, coming from a retail manager of over ten years. Idk why just cuz her brother is whomever, that the customer has to be put through her inept behavior. I'm incredulous. I have money, I don't need hand outs, that's how she approached the situation though, and guess what. Every employee in there knows it, never again, I'd rather give my money to a business that respects meI'd like to update that this beautiful specimen of a 'human being' also banned me from the shop-cuz shes an AMAZING judge of character and intent-she MUST be successful if she's so smart and observant. HA! The weed sells itself-but your attitude will never be worth SHIT. What sucks is I've always defended the working folks in there, come to find out-the vast majority of people I talk to have issues with the associates, they have said issues are related to their attitudes, I have had nothing but great experiences with the customer service team-aside from Thing 1. Thing 2 must stay hidden? Idk. But, this is the EXACT problem. These folks trying to make a paycheck and Miss Thing over here needs to be an ass every day making them respect her rules and regulations. If you don't honor returns for your CLEARLY FAULTY vapes-again-everyone I talk to up here has had an issue with those too-then don't sell them. You can't just steal from your customers and get away with it. Maybe our friends in the media would like to know some of the things that I know, that weren't meant to be shared? But that's what happens when you are the worst manager in the history of both management and the word worst. So, if you do use this 'service' laughable-but service-make sure if you have a return you call in CSI to document the loss, that probably won't be enough for Miss Thing but hey, at least you gave it the old college try! Which is more than I can say for our favorite Dr Seuss character that works as a manager in Salem-did I say? MISS THING!!!! You brought this on yourself you pretty little space cadet you. Haha I've been thrown out of WAY better places by MUCH better folks! You sideways ass dolt!If you make too many returns-or complaints-your name goes on a list, like a naughty list except you are either treated like crap from that point on, or banned. And if I need to give my source under oath I will, but no one worth their salt gives up their sources otherwise, and probably not under oath either actually. This generation wouldn't understand the loyalty aspect of it, but for folks who care bout where and who their hard earned money goes to support, i can't imagine being able to ignore the GLARING issues at this address. It could be much better for everyone involved. But like me, they care a lot about their cash. Difference is I can stop going there, but they will always be a group of wack ass managers in an otherwise dope ass movement. Peace be with all y'all-this is just my experience, I am certainly not perfect, lest we forget I'm not the one trying to get in everyone's pockets! It's just another day in paradise. It's comical they act like they don't see you when you in the same room as them! Hahaha SO WACK dude-SD here I come-these folks don't know what they doing
So I guess 3rd time is a charm!!!! Had such a great experience here. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. Kate and Michelle were amazing and I appreciate them and their customer service skills. Those skills are key to me. And they satisfied my needs and expectations of this place. Thank you Kate N and Michelle!!!! Because of them I will 100% be coming back for my 4th, 5th, 6th time and so on lol
Not much display cases to show their products here. Now, you get herded in like cattle to get into the door and all that. But when I'm finally inside, I want to be entertained a bit like other dispensaries. This place reminds me of the RMV-- same setup with lanes to the counter. I think the RMV may be a bit more enjoyable with the people watching.I did purchase something but I think I got a bad batch of flowers. It was like a 6 out of 10 in quality. It's not all bad..They did do a good job with the scheduling scheme.I'll come back to this one because it's close by. When another place opens up in eastern MA, I'm taking my fistful of cash there.
Great experience, super fast, easy and friendly! I would def recommend this to anyone in a pinch! Keep up the great work
Long wait for recreational even though you have an appointment. Do not bother looking at their online menu because it means nothing even though you are directed there when you receive your confirmation the day of. To save time, they should give out current menus while you wait in line. My bud tender seemed annoyed that I had my list ready and pushed the current menu toward me without offering any assistance for substitutions. I would only go back here as a last resort which may be never.
There's some lady up there that is just the rudest. I was just returning faulty cartridges and she treated me like I was trynna swindle her out if money. Really she should be mad at who ever is ordering those damned thing; as many people share this experience with them. Irregardless, there's no reason to hone your disposition that way as to be snippy and condescending towards someone that just wants his money worth. I'll just wait for more dispensaries to go recreational
This place has A LOT to learn on how to be a quality pot shop. Setting aside the seemingly average quality of their marijuana, getting into the shop is a joke. I knew I had to make an appointment for recreational buys, which I did, and had an appointment for 215 the next day. I immediately see there is a line with about 40 people in it, which I figured would move quickly. The security guy out front started to call appointment times that were 45 minutes earlier, because they were running so behind. Come to find out this was standard waiting time for this shop, which is absurd. It was 25 degrees out and my 215 appointment didn't allow me entrance into the store until 320, which is absolutely ridiculous. Having to wait in a parking lot line that wraps around the corner onto the sidewalk is the sign of an amateur shop, I've never experienced that kind of half assed approach by any PROFESSIONAL pot shop. I'd stay away from this place at all costs, the shop in Leominster has adapted well and are much more established than this place. Average quality products, bloated prices, TERRIBLE customer service.
The very most accommodating knowledgeable employees. They know everything you may wish to inquire of, pursuant to the products they offer. I would give five stars if they were to offer edibles.
Avoid. This place will be out business a month after there is an alternativ store in the area. They are constantly running out of product. They have all the enjoyable ambience of a medium security federal prison commissary. Nothing better than standing in line for an hour to be told everything you came for is out of stock or better yet when you get home they gave you the wrong product. Avoid this place.
From parking lot to security to knowledgeable staff, highly recommend if you can make it to Salem.
To be fair that might have been a bad batch ,but I have been back and GOT some fresh BUDS...so I learn to hunt out the freshest bud on the menu that way you cant go wrong either way I will be back
They do not honor their vape cartridges. 60. Verses 40. at NETA in Brookline MA (who stand behind their products) sad because this was a promising dispensary.
Super low quality swag stems and Sugar leaf ATG used to be quality before they went recreational $75.02 for a 8th and a Pre-Roll Neta in Brookline is alot better
A year later and I feel better than I did before . ATG continues to be my source for alternative medicine. They continue to update the menu with excellent choices. The staff continues to be of great assistance. Safe and secure.
Great shop, wonderful staff, I highly recommend this place for recreational shoppers. The only bad part of the experience was offsite parking. I actually don't mind parking far away and riding a shuttle, it was fast and convenient service. But, the shuttle driver spent the entire time, both there and back, lecturing us about how we were dumb to be overspending at a store vs buying from her uncle like she does. Buzz kill. Personally, I'm happy to pay a premium for the convenience and knowledge that I experienced in the store! I'll definitely be back, but I'll probably choose to walk to the lot.
Made an appointment online through their system online and still ended up having to wait outside in the cold for over 40 minutes! You would think a company in this industry that has so much demand would have better business processes in place to avoid these situations. Clearly all they care about is sucking every last dollar from every prospective consumer. Now, once actually inside the store, where everything is wildly overpriced, I finally get my turn to go up to the counter and finally make the purchase I'd been excited to make. Turns out a fricken dispensary only had ONE type of weed available for sale, how could that even be a thing. You would think they would be more transparent and disclose that with people before they stand outside in the cold for long periods of time. Not to mention on top of all that horror the person working there was rude and not helpful at all, I asked to smell the one type they had and she literally told me you can't because it's all already packaged. I've been to Colorado, California and Alaska dispensaries and let me say they blow this one out of the water. I think legal weed is a good thing for our state but this place is not doing it right. I'll probably wait it out and try another dispensary in the future when more open up in the area. I would not recommend this place to anyone. P.S. the "lemon haze" aka the only type they had, smelled terrible.
Place was pretty dirty when i went. Captains cake was the only thing i was satisfied with.To be honest though i think some of the weed off the street is much better than what they offer at whatever ridiculous price. They don't even let you smell or look at their buds. I wrote a review before, and i know they had it taken down because they got butt hurt.Place reminds me of a run down RMV.Didn't recommend anybody i know to go there.Syringes seem like a rip offThe whole security process is just lame, you guys were pretty empty and it still took 30 minutes plus...Who ever goes here just cant afford the Uber ride to brooklinePros- absolutely nothingCons- i havent been back, dont think i ever will. Can't wait until Salem/Peabody gives these people some competition they'll be closed in no time.
Great place with very friendly people that are very knowledgable, especially Zahrra and Brittany who always deliver 5 star service.
What. A. Joke. I've been to dispensaries in Oregon, Nevada, Colorado, and several parts of California that were nothing like this. The process reminds me of the very warm welcome citizens get when returning to the US, or the seamless maneuvering at the MA RMV. And after all that, the products? A huge disappointment: almost nothing available at outrageous prices. Do yourself a favor and fly to one of the other states who legalized recreational pot correctly.
this place is a cross between visiting a prison and the dmv.....The security guard was having a picnic on the grass or something so I sat there staring at a locked door until he finally decided to walk over and open it..first off the metal detector... I mean this is salem not mattapan... seems a bit rediculous. feel like Im going to visit an inmate or something..they make you watch a silly video about marijuana your first time... nowhere else does this.hardship discount.. despite every other dispensary accepting a mass health letter or card to prove hardship.. this place decides to require a friggin tax return for thier 10% discount.. I mean seriously..... even the worst dispensary in mass in brockton takes the card now... mass health = hardship .. according to the statevery disorganized.. weed was missing that was in their inventory.. they have to fiddle around through dozens of bags just to look for something seems to be all just tossed in the cabinet...they had no record of me ever being there despite the fact id been there before... which is kinda scary considering thier obligations under the law.you actually have to take a number like at the dmv ... rather then just have a line like everywhere else.everything put together just makes this place not a pleasant visiting experience.... I will say the girl with the tattoos was friendly though.glad I live on the south shore....will stick with my non metal detector dispensaries.
This was my first visit and I had written everything I needed to be prepared when walking in. Neither of the items I wanted were there. Update your website if you don't have an item in stock! Keep your patients updated. I'm sure many people suffer with making decisions on spot. Without really paying attention to the math, I accidentally wasted $45 on a 250mg (I wish they said .25g instead) cartridge when I could have used my first patient discount more wisely. If he just had the 500mg I wouldn't be in a situation where I need to switch around my products. The paper he had with the available product wasn't easy for me to understand at all, making my decision much harder in order to get about $100 worth for my discount. The location is also decently far from me and I don't have a car. So to drive all that way, not have anything I wanted, difficulties finding other things I wanted and leave unsatisfied with what I got was just disappointing. Probably won't be going back especially after wasting the one discount I get.
Alternative Therapies Group in Salem, MA is by far the 'BEST' dispensary I've ever been to! It's a clean, safe, relaxing, customer friendly, professional business with the highest quality products I've ever sampled. Their employees are hardworking and run the business perfect, Im in & out anytime I visit with no long wait & always leave with a smile. Staff members Kate & Zara have always provided amazing customer service, they know every detail of every strain & are extremely courteous every time I visit. I've been purchasing their products weekly for over a year and consider myself a lifelong customer.
ATG is my Go-to place for consistantly carrying Landrace and Classic Strains that are the Best Medicine for me. The Cartridges are Pure and Glass(they need to discontinue the plastic adulterated ones) that I get and they always seem to have the strongest 'entourage effect' 'fingerprints over other Dispensries carrying some of the same strains. Kadir and Yajaira are representative of staffing excellence. They often go above and beyond to make my experience a satisfying one. ATG Salem is a must for medical Cannabis users. 5 Stars.
By far the best dispensary in Massachusetts that I've dealt with. At least they don't sell gummies containing carcinogens like the one in Bridgewater. How can Health company that supposed to be helping people with cancer cell items that contain known carcinogens? What a joke. Salem is much further for me but the management or rather the manager there is very knowledgeable and extremely caring and takes the time to sit down with you for as long as you would like. They even called me the next day after my first visit to see if I had any questions. They also answer the phone when you call to see what they have available unlike some of the other dispensaries will you just get nothing but voicemails no matter how many times you call them. Especially Brockton. They are terrible. Salem is clean friendly and their prices are even a bit better than some of the other ones. I have found everyone to be helpful there and friendly. I don't know how they were a year ago because I was never there. But I find some of these reviews hard to believe especially if they are recent. Definitely worth my drive Which is far over an hour each way to get the customer service and the right information!
I was treated very poorly and will not be returning. I have been there at least 20 times and I will use The Flight Crew from now on. Everyone there has always been very kind but today, that was not the case. Out of the approximately 50-70 items I have purchased, I have had to return something four times. Always cartridges, once it was leaking out into the container they give it in, once the bottom came off and it would no longer work (this has happened multiple times but I only returned it once), and the last two times I returned the Marion Berry Kush cartridge and it wouldn't work on my pen. I brought it back in the second time, and it was right after I left that I returned, and was treated very poorly. I've always had good experiences with the workers and the nice man manager but today was completely different. The girl made me feel like a fool. She said I couldn't return anything else. She was very rude in the way she was speaking. I have been going to this location since right after they opened, gave them $1000's, and that's how I get treated? I was so upset that I went and spoke with the male manager. He was very apologetic. He explained that they were short on workers and it's been very busy, they were supposed to have two people start that didn't, and that she was probably just stressed. Because he was so nice, I walked away feeling better. I didn't wanna blame all of them for one rude girl. But then the girl comes out (and if you've ever worked customer service you know what this means) and she's smiling big and laughing. Hands it to me and in a high pitched (fake) voice says "Here you go! Have a nice dayyyy!". I was just like wow, what a rude girl (glasses, piercings, white girl, always wears plaid). Because of her, I will not be back. That is the ONLY reason. If you're not gonna take items back that don't work, why would I want to waste my money?
Easy parking nice security guards easy entry and some great flower Dakini Kush was a big hit. The budtenders are friendly quick and knowledgeable. Specials are daily and 10% discount for vets. Try it you will like it.
So, I selected an appointment date and time on their website and got on the waiting list, received an immediate email from them informing me if they had an opening/cancellation on that selected date and time, they would send a second email informing me, and that getting on the waiting list is NOT an appointment, and left it at that. I figured there wouldn't be any openings/cancellations, but checked my email a few times a day in the rare case that there would be leading up to that date and time, and even the morning of that date, nothing at all. Well, I check my email later again that night for something else, and there it was, they had sent an email saying they had an opening and to bring a print out of that email to the appt. Problem was, they sent it 18 minutes before the apt. time!!!! No way I could print that out (I don't have a printer) and get to Salem in 18 minutes!!! They should give at least one days notice for people not exactly around the corner, or who may have to take a cab or some other transport system. Has anyone else had this problem?
My partner and I had an appointment for 4:30PM, and arrived by public transport+shuttle at around 3:40PM. When we got there, there was a line of about 40 people waiting outside. An employee came out to let us now that their POS system was down, thus delaying transactions about an hour. We saw several folks leave. We patiently waited in 15F weather, (felt like 9F) for an hour and a half, before deciding to leave out of pure frustration and cold. I couldn't feel my feet. For a reservation-based system, it's a complete failure. A man that went in and was able to purchase something came out disappointed and let the crowd know that their supply was very limited and anybody looking for specific products would probably not find them. We then decided to leave empty handed, and we are glad, since giving money to a thriving business that makes its customers endure extreme weather conditions is not in our interests, regardless of any difficulty in finding a similar vendor. Whatever legal limitations the company references in their defense are outweighed by the sheer horror of this experience. Would give a zero-rating if I could.
This is my go to dispensary. They staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Their indica capsules finally help me to sleep through the night.
Great concentrates, but they need to step up their marketing game for flower. Now that NETA is in the house, complete with lots of edibles, beautiful packaging and FULL DESCRIPTIONS of flower and their effects, ATG's copy-and-paste strain type and THC/CBD counts (found on both their website and in-store listings) are woefully inadequate. Even a sentence would help, and the lack thereof is a disservice to the business, in my opinion.
great people, great service, and the product is really high quality as well! will be going back again. aaaand again. and again.
man working the counter was so weirdly standoffish and impolite. kept cutting in and interrupting me and my mom while we spoke, was super judgemental and all around rude. i felt like i was buying weed from my high school bully.
Ok two reviews here, medical & recreational. I'll admit I'm a little hesitant to give my opinion based off of the way they handle their negative reviews but that's what this is for, right? Anyway, if you're a medical patient, don't go to ATG. They're not going to give you the patient experience you deserve. Chances are they won't have product in stock anyway. The exception being if you see Sour Diesel, Gorilla Glue, Skywalker Kush, Captains Cake or Pineapple Express on the online menu (and have called to confirm that the menu is updated because it never is) then I encourage you to try them. Other than those strains I mentioned and some of the staff (looking at you Kate), ATG is abysmal and disappointing....and not worth it. Patients are no longer a priority. Yea I get that we don't have to wait outside or be limited to an 1/8 which is great. However, with the way ATG runs now, you'll have to wait inside anyway because there's only 1 budtender for medical while there's a surplus on the rec side. You probably won't even get more than an 1/8th because they under-stock medical so you'll wind up choosing between cannatonic (cbd) or some 9 month old leafy shake. Dispensaries are required to allocate 35% of their stock for medical only, which the state enforces. This rule does not apply to ATG as they have been open longer than 6 months (3 1/2 years) so their percentage is based off of an independent analysis of the previous 6 months' supply and demand. Basically, medical patients are screwed. There's no way ATG was pulling in enough money for there to be "sufficient" medicine for patients. End rant. Recreational customers, here's what you need to know:They're cash only. There is an ATM on site with a fee. Appointment REQUIRED for recreational. No exceptions. Parking lot for medicinal patients only. Park on Harmony Ave or take the free shuttle bus from the Salem MBTA station. They have a 1/8-1/4 oz limit on flower for rec.ID required for any purchase & info is stored. Online menu doesn't include tax. Add $20% (6.5% state, 10.7% state excise, 3% local tax) to the total.Ignore the medical patients freaking out (like me) over rec. it's nothing personal.
After multiple visits they're always super consistent, friendly and professional! If you're not from Salem, it makes a nice day trip. So after you're done here, go walk downtown and enjoy the quaint shops. Then head over to Pickering Wharf Marina for a cocktail and bite at Finz. Enjoy!
Never have had a bad experience here and staff are friendly and efficient. Parking is pretty easy compared to other recreational dispensaries in the area. Prices are high seeing as the tax is 20% but that's the states problem. Only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because the past four times I've been here there have been absolutely no menus out anywhere. It's confusing since people waiting in line tend to take longer when getting to the front since that's where the only menus are. It would speed up the line if you just put printable menus on the cases so us folks waiting in line can be ready for when we got called up. If you wanna save the earth and not use paper everyday at least get something to show your menu. Tv monitors? Chalk board? Feedback would be the lines would move way faster.
I went to this place as a 1st time card holder they told me since is your 1st time,u spend $ 100 u u get $50 off.. they over charged me instead of other places I have been to..so for that reason I will not do business with them more me I don't like there prices plus they trick me for not giving me the discount.I will not recommend this place to anyone..I like the fact that they do have a parking comparing to Lynn dispensary no parking I hate that place too..
This place blows my mind! You don't need to order online! You can just show up and place your order! Open for recreational use! Just moved here a month ago! And have been going to Insa Salem. But after finding this place I will no longer be going to Insa! Way better selection's here!Bud tender Dennis is THE Man! Was very helpful! You could ask him any question you like! He seems more than happy to tell you what you need! He sure the hell knows what he's talking about! Just look for the rockstar looking dude!)
Their weed is grown with PGR aka Plant Growth Regulators, which are nutrients which cause hard, heavy buds - which maximizes profit, but also is cancer causing. The way ATG is able to get away with this is by giving their plants an extended flush at the end of the grow cycle so that none of the harmful nutrients are at a high enough level to be included in testing results. Not to mention that even with PGR's their weed still looks/smells like cacka. Stay away, buyer beware.
Online ordering experience makes it so easy to find what you want and do a bit of research on new products before going to the store. The staff is way beyond friendly and helpful and make the entire experience positive. They also are very knowlegeable regarding the products in case you have any questions. Highly recommend.
I've had great experiences going here. The staff is super friendly and the process of choosing what you want is a breeze. I'm one of those people who ask a million and 1 questions AND I'm hella indecisive, and I'm always met with patience and a willingness to help me out.I love that they have so many different things to try. It is cash only, and that's the only bummer because it's always an extra step for me (there is an ATM, but there's a fee). That just makes things a little inconvenient (I wish I could take off half a star and how a whole star)There's plenty of parking and it's super easy to find. I wish there was one a little closer to my area but this isn't too bad.

Everyone is helpful, nice and friendly. Good in-store products. There is parking and some handicap spots.
The place was clean the staff was very friendly. I was in and out very quickly. there was no wait. The weed was fireeeeee.(great flower)
I took my brother in to this dispensary to get something for his pain. He is legally blind and has many physical issues and is not the most patient person. Alicia was so calm and understanding with him and explained everything that would best work for his pain and anxiety.
This place is the best! I had the pleasure of meeting Luke and Brandyn. Both were beyond knowledgeable of the products and incredibly friendly and accommodating. Their customer service skills were excellent...and displayed great patience with all my questions...thank you so much for hiring such great staff...Luke and Brandyn rocked it!!!!!
I am new to the dispensary thing. After sustaining a broken fibula and ankle fracture back in January I was in pain and on bed rest. I can not tolerate pain killers so I gave edibles a try..miracle potion for sure! Alternative Therapies Group is very clean, professional and safe. Even the security guard at the entrance is welcoming and nice. The staff ("Bud Tenders') are well trained in their knowledge of the product and will provide you with exactly what you are seeking. They Will ask if you are seeking a product to sleep, relax, be Active or otherwise. Very personal experience and definitely a quality place. The proprietor is nice also. Very professional, knowledgeable and a highly educated man who knows his stuff. Touche! Great experience I highly recommend!!
The first medical dispensary to open in Massachusetts, Alternative Therapies Group serves medical patients and recreational guests from across the North Shore. With a passionate and knowledgeable staff, we always strive to make each experience enjoyable.
