I have been a mass medical patient for almost one year now. Ive gone to a few mass dispensaries. Garden remedies is by far the absolute best! Staff is so knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and really make you feel at ease. Edibles are the best. And today Patrick (pretty sure that was his name) was so helpful to me with Vape batteries and even gave me a consult and demo of how to use. Love this dispensary! This is now my favorite go to place even their topicals are the best the Salve has been a blessing to me as well as the topical creams. Every flower pkg has a perfect humidity packet in it to keep your flower consistently fresh.
THRILLED that Garden Remedies finally opened in Melrose. Having lived in Chestnut Hill until 2014, I was freaking out when I learned a license had been granted in Newton. Sadly, I made my way to Saugus before they opened. Imagine my delight, when I saw it was coming soon to Melrose... Not five minutes from my house. All that's neither here nor there for a review, but perhaps an interesting backstory. Now for the weed... I only went with flower for my first visit, and I tried star killer and chem four. I would consider myself a "professional", based on my years of experience with the product, and what can I say... It was lovely.Nice atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and first time incentives... I'll be going back soon.
They don't knoe what there doing here. They give new patient discounts that can't be combined with any other sale but nowhere online says it .only half the staff no about the deals I had to correct them at the register
Plenty of parking, convenient location. Prices are a little high but good selection and friendly staff. Was in and out very quickly.
I've only been once because I live down on the Cape but once I found it, I knew it was worth the drive. The people were great as was the selection and price. I keep wanting to go back but when I gather the money, they are out of the product I need. They don't seem to stock multiple strains as they do in their Newton and Marlborough locations on a regular basis.Disappointing, since there are parking and weight restrictions even for medical patients at those other dispensaries.I keep checking their menu though and hope my stars align with money and product available at the same time.
Convenient location, nice people, but the strains are mostly hybrids and on the low THC side for flower.
Ordered an 8th of flowers and the cashier confirmed to me that i wanted flower. Ended up with a pre roll. Teenagers who can barely show up to math class are better salesmen than these burnouts.
A dispensary that has 1 strain is not a dispensary, that is a guy who lives in his mothers basement... just a joke of an establishment ... No one who worked there(and there was at least 8 people behind the counter) knew when they would have more than one strain... so they have that going for them also...and the product was dry, more than half of it was shake and there was no seal on the packaging... And when all was said and done it was almost $80 for an 1/8... The woman who owns this place should be embarrassed...
Literally the absolute worst place I've ever been to. Order two eighths that the cashier bagged and stapled shut to find out when I got home that they were both almost empty and had no seal. Staff there are complete scum. Not even worth a star
I ordered edibles online and picked up. The store was bright and welcoming, as were the people behind the counter. Would visit again.
This place is great if you're looking for the following: 1.) terrible quality weed (dry/poor taste) 2.) terrible prices 3.) terrible customer service 4.) terrible management practices. A fish rots from the head down and this place is here for 1 reason and 1 reason only.... to take your money and give you AWFUL product/service in exchange. I suggest you visit another dispensary, instead of this wannabe one.
Tough to call this a dispensary. I was confused when I walked in and was told that they actually didn't have any of the stuff on the screen. Meaning they had one strain. And when I asked if it was decent, the staff member said "ehh, its alright." The staff member also said "yeah we have actually been sold out of that all day and cant figure out how to erase it" when explaining the TWO menu options. I know that the Cannabis industry is young here, but these guys seem very poorly managed. Frustrating coming from the CA cannabis world. I could run this place blindfolded.
I came here about two weeks ago and it was not too bad ... Staff was very kind although I didn't like the fact one of them looked high out their mind and the other one was clueless about the menu ... I understand it's a dispensary and why wouldn't they be high right ? but they could've at least been knowledgeable about the menu ... There is some pros ... They have a parking lot so that's isn't a issue at all ... They stay open later than most places which is another positive but the prices are pretty high ... I don't necessarily think I'd return due to the price because the product is not the best ... It's totally worth a try but not a return...
Women owned cannabis shop? Count me in. I normally frequent the one in Peabody, but decided to give a try. I think I like this one better because they show you the menu at the register- which really helps me to read through what I'm getting while the associate is helping me. They also take cash and card - but there is a service fee added on for card.
Talk about convenient! I was in and out within 10 minutes and off to work. Try the relax cartridge. The staff recommended it, I couldn't be happier.
So unhappy with Garden Remidees. My husband has ptsd and anxiety. He knows both about marijuana. He wanted something with CBD's per his drs recommendation but more importantly, very low thc percentage. Tangerine Kush was what they gave him. Looking it up on line, I read it should only be used at night and has a high level of thc. Unbelievable! I had to give one star!! If marijuana employees don't know what they are selling the store should be put out of business!
I went in to the new Marlboro location. I was impressed at the location first arriving, Then it fell short right there. I was greeted in and shown a menu of what they had. They had sample of their products so you can see it in front of them. I asked for hash/concentrates. After looking at beautiful colored golden samples I picked the Brightest gold color that tickled my fancy from their sample. They ring me up I pay, I leave and get in my car. I opened the package, the product I got was nothing alike to the sample I was shown and I had chosen. Instead, I got was a neon green baby poo color. This is definitely bait and switch shop. I went back in to complain saw the same person all I got was oh it's open we can't take back, Sorry you stuck with it. Wait.., what I'm stuck with something I choose and you bait switched me and I'm forced to eat the cost? Shady business Tactics if you ask me. I wouldn't touch this product with a ten foot pole. I would steer far away from this place. I will not be coming back to this place at all. Photos I attached to show proof. These guys don't care about the customers health! Only money $$
Great staff - very patient and helpful. Parking was reasonable to excellent - likely will depend what time and day you visit.
The folks at the door and front desk are really friendly, just a simple ID check and I'm at the counter in a jiffy. I noticed that there are many different strains, but I didn't know all of them at the top of my head. Fortunately, the staff are helpful with which strains are the best or not. Overall, I had a good experience and will go back.
$65 store brand vape is junk. Both quality and function.....Go to Hudson instead.....
I'm from out of state and my only reference is Denver. I went to Garden Remedies to purchase some topical THC and infused honey. While the selection in Denver is incredible including fresh made edibles, I won't take anything out of that city because there are too many sniffer dogs at the airport.I don't smoke so I can't comment on the quality or selection of weed. I went to purchase on topical THC and infused honey. It must be a bummer that everything is hidden and one cannot look at the products before hand. In my case, that didn't matter.I found the counter staff to be really friendly and really helpful. I lived in Westborough for 23 years, so I know how Massachusetts is not considered very good when it comes to customer service. However, everyone in that shop seemed happy and friendly. Kind of took me off guard. There was plenty of parking and it's very easy access off of Route 9 or 495. For me, it added up to a very good experience.
I was in the area and nearing the end of my favorite Chroma mints 4.6 mg aka best Altoids ever and decided to stop in. The parking lot was very clean and there was a lot of parking. I showed my drivers license and because it was my first time I was asked to sign a waiver and acknowledgment form. Interior was clean and all the employees were friendly and service was quick. I'd definitely go back.
I'm shocked that so many people consider this to be a quality dispensary. It's not. I've had the misfortune of visiting this business twice. First time, super rude door person and clueless budtender. Every answers I had for them was met with a shrug. On the second occasion, I reserved ahead, show up hours after I put in my order, and was told that I need to wait in a gigantic line. In the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Absolutely terrible. Fortunately Massachusetts is full of quality dispensaries, so I won't have to bother with Green Remedies again.
To make a long story short, do yourself a favor and don't shop here. These people are young kids, with far less experience than we're led to believe. I'd like to see a copy of what they have for training, because based on the people I dealt with, something was missing. They don't have respect for the public, they're just out to take our money. Once you give them your money its GONE. And I mean its gone. It doesn't matter if you go out in the parking lot, open the bottle, and decide you don't want it, and bring it back with your receipt. They may offer you an exchange, but you have to take it right then and there, otherwise you're out of luck. They will NOT give you a store credit or your money back. I was even willing to take a credit and come back later when they might have something I was looking for, but no way. Once you walk out the door, that sale is made, and your money is gone. Please be aware of that folks. They may be nice while taking your money, after that its a whole different story. In my case I was recommended a product that they never told me the capsules were made with lactose and I'm lactose intolerant. That was why I couldn't use it. The exchange that they offered, was for a $90 product, and my original product was $36. They wanted another $64 from me. I thought to myself, here we go again, and I'm not buying it this time, another $64; my foot. Its bait and switch at its best. I'd have to be a fool after the harsh, rude treatment they were giving me for the louzy $36, I'm not going to make it worse, and be into them for $90. Who's crazy here? They'll try and turn your words around on you, and try to make you feel like a fool in front of the other shoppers. They have a spare room, that their website claims they use for privacy, yet they would rather argue in front of everyone. In hopes that I would get embarrassed and give up. It didn't happen so they asked me to leave. All this, and I was one of the advocates/ voters that backed it. Shame on me.
Super Accommodating throughout Covid and have great hours for when I need to come! Great service and products I come here all the time!
Horrible weed! So many seeds in it and it's extremely over priced for some garbage!!! Don't waist your money
What a nice experience. Greeted at the door by a very friendly security guard. Went in, showed my identification and initialed the paperwork. Went up to the counter, a lovely girl... Stunning actually... With long braided hair helped me look through the menu and I decided on a couple of items.Super friendly, the place was not all that busy and it was Saturday afternoon. All in all, a very good experience. Prices, as you would expect, are right up there... But so is the quality of their product.
As far as overpriced dispensaries go (which is all of them, by the way) this place is pretty good. The employees are nice, you can reserve what you want before you go, and you can get in and out quickly which is all I care about. You're better off getting bud the old fashioned way though.
Excellent access and super easy ordering and pick up. Everyone I've been in contact with is genuinely friendly and helpful. Nice facility, plenty of parking - easy in and out. Options and selections is really good as well, quality products in stock = that's the key. Highly recommended!
I have been coming here for a while and have enjoyed their products and customer service, until recently...I had a completely damaged product that had to be thrown away because it was harmful. I called GR and they were friendly and directed me to email customer service to submit a refund form. I never heard back for weeks so I decided to call again. The person was friendly and told me he would check for me. Didn't hear back for a couple of weeks again. Emailed my fourth time and still no reply! This is extremely poor customer service and misleading. Purchasing products here are not affordable and a lot of my money was wasted. Really disappointed and will not come back here again.
Very secure environment. Their ordering system is well organized, staff knowledgable and helpful
The last time I went there, the weed had a seal on it that I had never seen before. They are definitely taking steps to up their game and it's a success. Still a little dry but nothing crazy and no seeds. I am impressed and will be going back. Also, plus side - they are in a plaza with a brewery (2 in 1 actually, 2 breweries, one store front) and 3 restaurants. I stopped at Chill for some drinks - very good!
It feels really weird to be posting a less than stellar review for a dispensary considering I couldn't even legally purchase these products a few years ago. 3 stars for service. I thought the staff were incredibly friendly, pleasant to work with and it was a smooth transaction, despite a pandemic. Extra stars for the staff. 1 Star for the product. I purchased 3 containers of gummies and 1 vape. The vape is ok, it's probably the best item I walked away with. The gummies on the other hand - whoa. Hands down, the worst gummies I've ever had. Not only are they waxy and taste terrible. Ok I know, it's not supposed to be about the taste it's supposed to be the results, right? Wrong on both counts. I have had delicious gummies from friends that are juicy, taste like real fruit and work wonders. These make me sluggish, sleepy and brain dead. I am greedy, so I have eaten almost all of them at this point thinking maybe I was just not in the right mood, was tired, etc and every time the same result. I feel like Dora from Finding Nemo. I just want to go to sleep and not even in a good way. I'm not relaxed, I just feel like a pile of garbage. I've tried a whole one, a half, quarter, 2 at a time - all the same just different levels of scattered garbage. I really wanted to love this place because it's right by my house, but with all the competition out there they REALLY need to rework their formula for the damn gummies. I know you're thinking this review was way harsh but I'm just being honest and I hope they can rework some things and if they do - I'll give them another whirl.
So disappointed with Garden Remedies in Newton, MA. I have spent more than $1000 there during the past year. Two items I purchased in June 2019, the PAX 3 and another high end vape stick, both suddenly stopped working, even though fully charged. The PAX got dangerously hot. I also now have a cartridge for The vape stick that I can't use. No recourse. No warranty. Also, they are woefully bereft of product. Finally, unlike other local dispensaries, they don't post an available product list on their website. Rather, I get a pop-up telling me there are 0 products found and invite me to "filter". That never works. I will be taking my $ elsewhere.
I am very disappointed with Garden Remedies in Newton.I am a medical card holder. This use to be my favorite go to dispensary. Thay had the best body products and some really good edibles. However it has become very unsatisfactory.I made an appointment on a Friday afternoon a few weeks ago to access the limit supply ( and no body products). I had to wait in the medical line with one person in front of me. One register for medical. While I waited in line the recreational line beside me had 2 registers and the line kept moving. While I was in line 8 recreational customers came and went. Ugh.By the time I was taken care of i was told they had no tincture.Terrible service, why did I waste my time.Today 3/19 we now need to pre-order then pickup. There were 2 products listed to order. This place will not survive through this crisis if this is how they are working.Very sad because I believe especially in medical marijuana.I gave them 1 star because at least they are open.
The staff have been extremely nice and very helpful. I am a little disappointed that I usually get a cart for vaping and an 8th of flower. This cart ( grease monkey) from the moment I tried it When I got home I wanted to go right back and return because there was something wrong with the cart. I thought "hmm This is never happened before it's probably my vape. Anyway it wasn't the cart was malfunctioned. All I know is I never got to get a good high AT ALL! And this is very unlike vaping. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.
So sad to write this review. What once was my favorite backyard/home dispensary is now my last resort! over the past two months their concentrate, tincture, and spa section (SPA WAS MY FAVORITE PART GR AND WHAT MADE THEM STAND OUT) have completely disappeared!!! :( Often they have only had a few strains of flower as well. Their response has been to either drive 40 minutes to their other location in Melrose or delivery with a steep delivery price and $150 minimum order. They have also stated that since 4/20 they are still struggling to get their inventory back, which I find very hard to believe.I hope that they will be able to work out their kinks and get back to the dispensary they once were!
This place has vastlyImproved despite the pandemic. Lines are short, product is available. I was impressed with the outdoor setup which is now indoor. Questions are answered and it's in and out.
Ughhhhhhhhhhh. There's one lane for the medical patients and when I came in, the dude manning the medical lane over explained everything about Avery strain to some one who was with another cashier. He had this guy switch to him and then the other cashier started to only take Adult Use people. 8 people came in, ordered and purchased weed from the 3 Adult Use lanes as my husband and I stood there like idiots. Finally we got up to this guy who has just been arguing and trying to make points with the guy in front of us. My husband handed his caregiver card and the cashier started to tell us how pointless he it was that I didn't just give him my card. Literally, my husband ask him why he was giving us a hard time and they went back and forth 4 times. I wouldn't suggest going here if you're a medical patient. This business doesn't appreciate the fact that we pay, get a doctor referral and get diagnosed. I also drove up from Braintree so I wasn't happy at all.
The menu THC% does not match the product you receive. Purchased two types of wax and an eighth of flower. The wax THC% for both products was almost 10% lower than what was displayed on the menu at the counter at the time of my purchaseAfter going out of my way to visit this dispensary, I felt cheated after receiving product that was inferior and falsely advertisedAs a medical patient, there are so many more options in the area that will let you know exactly what you're buying and places like this give the medical marijuana industry a bad reputation
In and out in minutes, I got the desired product and am happy with the results. My only complaint is that I didn't see on the website that they don't take credit cards, luckily I had a debit card with me otherwise it would have been a wasted journey out there.
Let me start by saying I feel as if I have given the folks at GR every chance before taking to yelp to flame them. Been going here since Rec opened and the process is usually pretty seamless and easy. Typically, with the online ordering, I am in and out in 10 minutes or less. The product is as advertised and the staff are generally friendly with a few standouts--wish I could remember their names. That's why this 2 stars, not 1.Anyway, the reason for the negative review is last week i went to pick up some flower. When i got home, one of the jars that was supposed to contain an eighth was completely empty. I was absolutely baffled, so i wrote the team at GR through their contact function on their website. It has now been a week and I have not received a response. Sold me an empty jar i paid 60$ for then did not have to decency to respond to my inquiry about it. Come on, man, disappointingLooks like I'll be making a longer drive going forward to give my business to a store that values it.
I had a bad experience with their Bruce Banner # 3 Distillate oil, ive used distillates for some time, im versed on the process, quality and testing.they use ethanol during the extraction process, which i was unaware of until after i purchased at veriflife, batch number# PG-Pen-.5g-h-2-pk2 according to the labelAfter using this cartridge multiple times within an hour, i had a burning sensation in my sternum/ esophaugs which led to vomiting.Since then my esophagus has been in rough shape, i would not recommend their distillate oils to anyone and would recommend if youre reading this to use distillates that have been extracted using CO2-I contacted GR 1 week ago, with no responseI will be bringing this cartridge for residual solvent testing
Had good experiences at the Melrose shop but they were out of a cartridge that I wanted so trekked to Newton. Newton is pickup only, didn't realize that so I had to order when I arrived, my bad. Placed the order but the earliest pickup was 1.5 hours later and it was snowing hard. I was specifically told by the employee that I could just come back the next day. Next day (today) I trek back to Newton, get to the now different employee and she tells me all orders are canceled each night, just reorder and it should be ready in a few minutes. Yet the pickup time is again 2 hours. I'm told to call customer service and they can tell me when the order is ready so I can get it early. I do that and I'm told that he won't even tell me when it's ready, my only option is to go back at my slotted time because they are so busy. Of course I was actually at the shop during the call so I knew it was not busy. So 2 wasted trips, wasted time on a call, still no cartridge. The customer service is terrible. So now they are going to have to put my single cartridge order back in the shelf again because I'm not going to wait 2 hours, wasting their time as well.
Would have a higher review but Mass does not have their shit together and dispensaries run out of product on a regular basis
SO convenient. Those who are complaining about having to make an appointment...FFS. We rolled in at 7:37 and had to book an appointment sooo far In the future--7:40. The "long" waiver was standard, one page, one sided and you just had to initial. The staff was so nice, including their security personnel whom we enjoyed the beautiful sunset with. If y'all think this is worth bitching about, go to a state where it isn't recreational and then tell me whatcha got to complain about. First. World. Problem. Babies.
Please make sure the specs on the menu match the specs on the product. I just left, and once again the THC% on my purchased product is lower than promised/paid for. Some of the staff is really nice, but this recurring problem is beyond frustrating.
I'm assuming other reviews are from rival companies, because they're wrong or have ridiculous expectations. They DO take debit card (and there's an ATM outside), and the wait period to get an appt is 1 hour, not 3. They only take a certain number of people at a time because their space is tiny, and they (like all dispensaries) have very high security. My first appointment, the manager Matthew sat me down for a good 20 minutes, to help me figure out what I need for my specific medical conditions. Everything was clean, well lit, attractively displayed. They have a delivery option.
This is probably the worst dispensary I have been too, they close down just to do inventory which is a bad buisnesses move in general, not even open on sundays and there staff thinks they know more then a medical cannabis doctor. Bud dispensers are not doctors. There flower is too dry and its kept in a sealed container and you cant even see the buds before you buy them and they are constantly out of stock on items as they must have never heard of planning harvests and managing time so you never run out. As a farmer and a medical cannabis user I am really disappointed with this place now and when they first opened I use to be a regular customer. The manager there is not friendly at all either. Do yourself a favor and go to NETA or temscale wellness or any other boston area dispensary there much better
Superior staff and product. Both Brad and Eliza offered such helpful recommendations for my various concerns.
Just terrible. Called and asked if they had cones. Arrived 15 min later and they said yes but only for medical, not recreational. Well isn't that bizarre. I guess it's some wacky law. Who knows. But they need to be specific on the phone like they are in person. Then looked down and saw rolling papers in the glass case and said ok I'll just grab papers and flower. He says we don't sell papers you can go to 7/11 down the street. My word. Turned around and walked out. First and last time here.
I have been shopping here all most 2 years. I like their products and pricing has always been good. I went in today and Caroline helped me. She gave me good recommendations. They sent me a text with a 20% discount off my order. I used it today. As always, I enjoy my shopping experience here.
You most likely lost me as a customer tonight. Two weeks ago I couldn't get all the edibles I wanted. Tonight I made an appointment for 7:15pm got there and your computer system was down. I couldn't even enter the building! And the 10% off coupon is a slap in the face. You are a medical marijuana facility. Do you think patients are well enough to go back to you two days in a row? Major inconvenience! And making an appointment just sucks. There are plenty of places that sell medical marijuana now and I will be trying those out. It's going to get worse if and when you go public. SORRY, NO THANK YOU!
It's just okay. But I don't blame Garden Remedies. I have no doubt that the deficiencies of the establishment are the result of the restrictions imposed by doing business in the city of Newton.
Corey was very professional and personable- a very pleasant interaction. Enthusiastic about his job and the company growth!
There is only one good thing about this new mixed version of Garden Remedies. The people behind the counters are friendly. They try to help you find what you need. I too wanted to like this dispensary/retail store and am sad to write this review. it's close to where I live. But the ones behind the counter I have spoken to knew next to nothing about the product they are selling and had little product to sell. This was my first time there. I asked about something that eases neurologic pain in my neck and upper back. He said they're all the same. I did get a topical cream to rub on the area - which has helped some. They had one in stock. There is a cumbersome way to get into the store. First going in the front door where the rude contracted security personnel checked your ID and gave you a long waiver to sign. Then back out of the building, enter the side door, show ID and finally you are in a small room with 4 connected counters - 2 for medical marijuana- 2 for retail sales. The product is behind the counter, out of site so customers cannot read their contents and have to rely on the personnel behind the counter - who had no idea which contained small amounts of THC (no more than 2.5%} or what other chemicals are in the mix. A few of these things can be chalked up to the unnecessary restrictions Newton required but not the other things. The city should have granted them the small parking lot they requested.
Easy in and easy out. Street parking. Decent products. The tax is a killer! The cartridges were ok nothing special. Flower was fresh
As a registered caregiver, I could not vist G.R. to get pain relief medicatation Due to their arcane set of rules that not only limited # of pataients they could see (5 per half hour) but also required a three hour advance reservation to come in to the farmacy, Bottom line was called at 4 in the afternoon and could not even see me, any time that afternoon OR evening! even though they were "open" till 8 pm that evening. A store that refuses to see patients during normal business hours ? ? ?Very Frustrating, and Not a positive experience at all,...Also, for the one product I checked on, they seem to charge 30% more than the cambridge / brookline shops. To be fair after further research, they they were correct that their product contains more active ingredients than the others.
I read some reviews before going and I was hoping I'd luck out and have a great experience. Nope. People weren't kidding, they had nothing in stock. I don't really understand why that's the case. They must not do many adult use sales. Just frustrating to drive well out of my way to go, have an appointment, and have them tell you they have barely one option in stock. Very nice employees though, not their fault.
What a joke. By appointment only. Never been so dissapointed. I can make an online order but without an appointment I can't go in. Wasn't busy in the slightest
The prices listed are literally more than double what I am used to paying. Quality: Same. Hassle: More. Price: D O U B L E.
A small dispensary that has friendly staff. But the smallest and most expensive selection of any in the Boston metro area.I have exhausted my patience with this business. Their daily menu always runs out "just before" you get there. No matter what time you're there. It is useless to check their daily download. Because it's doubtful that they'll have what they say they have. And their products are significantly more expensive than other dispensaries. And no, the product is no better for the price.I finally decided I will not go back. A waste of time & energy. I can only imagine how poorly managed it will be come 5/25/19 when they start adult recreational. Have low expectations. That way they'll only be dashed a bit...
Had a very disappointing experience. I emailed the company, but since they didn't bother to respond, I'm forced to share it here. During Garden Remedies 40% off sale, their site and phone numbers were completely overwhelmed. I managed to put an order in, but I didn't get a confirmation email until almost closing time (since they have new hours), and I couldn't get there that same day. I went the next day, and was there before they opened (first in line). I explained the situation, but the people at the door wouldn't even let me in to speak with a manager (since you have to show them an email that your order is ready before they let you in). I emailed - no reply. I called - no response. In my mind, this is classic "bait and switch" like we used to see at retailers on Black Friday. Don't offer a 40% discount, if you can't meet the demand (and that includes website and phone support). The company should have honored the pricing - and at least had the courtesy of responding to me. I'll never shop here again. Good thing Garden Remedies has a lot of competition - and they care about their customers. Major customer service fail.
My friend and I drove 30 minutes to this place to look at their CBD products as she was having an anxiety attack and ran out of her usual CBD product. We drove all the way there and walked to the door to see a "closed for inventory" sign. We double checked the website and it said nothing about being closed for inventory and there was no date on the sign posted. Just in case the sign was left up accidentally we knocked. A very rude guy opened the door and said "what, can't you read the sign" and then closed the door in our faces. There were no other places open late enough so I basically just had to drive my friend home for her to try and get rid of her anxiety by herself. I would have been fine if I misread their website but no where did it say they were closed early. Was hoping to find a new go-to CBD shop but I was wrong.
Terrible experience. My person was uneducated, completely unsympathetic to my problem (I was diagnosed with cancer a month ago), and useless. Different people at the clinic gave me different answers about if there are different products if you have a medical marijuana card or not. And they have almost no inventory if you aren't looking to smoke or vape. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. I certainly will.
Tried to go for the first time the other day and wasn't able too. The kid at the door was so rude and condescending so I won't go back. Maybe be a little more understanding to new customers who don't know how the process works.
While this dispensary is closest to my house, it is my least favorite one in the area. The prices are insane, even for Boston's already inflated prices. Not sure how they can stay competitive when there are NETA's and Revolutionary Clinics hitting it out of the park, all easily within driving distance of Garden Remedies. Another big issue I have is with vapes. The other dispensaries have vape cartridges of certain strains ala- Master Kush, Grape Ape etc. GR has cartridges with themes like "relax" or whatever. They blend a mysterious variety into some cleverly marketed theme which I assume they take the cheapest bits from the cheapest varieties and throw them together in a pretty package and sell. No indication what strains or even what terpenes are there. Occasionally they have strain specific vapes but overall, the kind of branding they are doing feels very Goop-esque- all style, no substance, and at a premium price. Well at least they probably paid their graphic designer well for the slick branding of these mysterious concoctions. Only positive I have to say is that I have had some nice interactions with the employees.
I did not like my experience here. They have a lot of product but low THC %.
my first experience as a medical patient this morning Saturday 12/8. a good day to go. Made an appointment online was greeted at the entrance by a nice young man who checked my ID. I was granted access. After some minor paperwork as a first timer I was then granted access to the dispensary. I was fortunate enough to walk up to Darren's station. A Very professional and polite and handsome sexy man with an amazing body assisted me. I'm ok now, so after some discussion about what they offered and their loyalty program we talked business and I made a purchase. This was a wonderful experience I enjoyed every moment from the front door security person right up until I met Darren. Did I mention him Darren the hot guy who is also a personal trainer. OK I am OK now had a wonderful experience please try this place even if you don't get to see Darren. I'll be back.
My biggest complaints are:1) lack of product for adult use. Went the other day and they only had 2 strains, and they were the least popular ones. The website/leafly is not up to date.2)The people who work security there have bad attitudes. This has happened to me on more than one occasion and I'm getting sick of it to the point I will drive further to go somewhere else. I'm 50 years old and to have to deal with these 20 somethings smarmy, condescending attitudes is getting to be a bit much. Not to mention they keep changing the process, sometimes I only have to show my ID once since I've been there before, but the last time I had go and show my ID to a random person in the next room, only to have to show it again before entering. When I informed the young man that I had already been there before, he told me to go to the other room anyway in a tone of such dismissal and frustration I almost told him off. And I know I'm not the only one, I have friends who have gone there and had similar experiences. They're lucky they're the only shop in town!
PEOPLE PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW-IMPORTANT NEW INFO!! I am actually making my review about Melrose not Newton but Yelp didn't provide one for that store. But I assume the Cannabis and prices are similar at both stores. Anyway, I live 3 minutes from this dispensary and I don't plan to go to it much. I would rather drive to Somerville or Cambridge and go to SIRA or Revolutionary clinic. The prices and selection here aren't great. The reason I want people to read this is because as of June 6, 2019 the laws in Maine regarding a visitors pass has changed. If you're ever go up to Maine to visit or vacation, you no longer need to buy a certificate from your doctor. Maine now allows out of state residents to visit their dispensaries as long as they have a valid medical marijuana card and a photographic ID (license). The prices up there are so so so much better! All of their Cannabis is $10 a gram and some is $8 a gram. An eighth is $31 and a quarter is $63. Look Up "Canuvo" in Biddeford, Maine to see what I mean. Here at Garden Remedies they charge $50 and eighth and $95 for a quarter! There's no need for them to charge such high prices! Also, up in Portland at "wellness center" they offer like four different strains of weed that are on sale for $100 an ounce!!!! Here and at most Massachusetts's dispensaries an ounce is over $300. That's a big savings! They also have a nice selection of different strains and you can buy just a gram of each if you want. That gives the opportunity to try a bunch! Many dispensaries here don't have many strains to buy in just grams- you tend to have to buy an eighth. The preroll prices are also cheaper too-- here at Garden Remedies they are $15 for one gram while "Canuvo" in Maine offers them for $9.48- that's a pretty big savings if you buy like $5. That's almost a $30 savings. It all adds up. So, before I end this I just wanted to inform people that there is an incentive to visit Maine and vacation - much cheaper, quality, medical marijuana.
Though pre-packaging everything may help things flow faster, I just don't care for it. I feel like I'm being cheated. I've gone home and emptied the flower out onto my own scale and it's not always a full gram. If they didn't sell everything prepackaged, they would be able to sell 1 gram at any time and not always run out like they do currently. Why would I want to buy 1/8 when I don't even know if I like it? It's not like I can return it. And who wants pre-rolls when you grind the flower into dust and doesn't pull right? And the pre-roll selection is limited anyway. In a nutshell, they are my last resort as far as dispensaries go.
I went to GR looking for a very specific terpene profile. While I was there the bud tender was able to find a few lab reports and guide me along. I found a strain that was close to what I was looking for but was told that if I contacted the cultivation plant that they might be able to get me specific profiles for certain batches. I left and emailed them and was blown away at the amount of information that was shared. A very big thank you to Felicia and Susan for having the patience to get me all the terpene profiles I requested. So that weekend I went back and picked up exactly what I was looking for. The manager on duty went the extra mile to look up a few more profiles to satisfy my curiosity. My only other request would be to please make this information available on your website or possibly an iPad in store so people can browse through all the terpene profiles tested and what batches are in the store available for purchase. The information is so valuable and it's just sitting there unused. Thanks again for all the help.
I think the place is nice and the goods seem great so far. Only complaint is the stock. You get there only to find what you want is not in stock. For me it is a pain as this is not close to me. Maybe once more places open up I can finally get what I want. I did get an email when one of the times I wanted was in stock only to get there and find construction going on and I did not have the mobility to get into the place.
You need to properly 'burp' your cannabis otherwise it becomes musty and degrades in quality and effectiveness. Despite my attempts to fix what was delivered, I have been unable to completely get rid of the musty scent. I was certain it wasn't due to powdery mildew, because how would a medical dispensary have the balls to call PM cannabis medical quality?! I had imagined it was due to improper 'burping' and storage of the medicine, which was confirmed when I checked the date my cannabis was packaged, about 2 months before I purchased it. Cannabis needs to be 'burped' or breathe to encourage the curing process and assure the cannabis doesn't become musty. Dropping a moisture package in a batch and storing it away is not effective because the moisture package can only take on so much moisture, then the remaining excess moisture begins to destroy the medicine you have worked so hard to produce. You could maybe call yourselves a recreational dispensary but most certainly not a medical one. Not until you begin to care about your patients and the medicine you provide them.P.S I'm the veteran from the Berkshires that originally had an issue with you agreeing to deliver and then backing out and then agreeing again only to deliver musty inferior medicine. This IS a medicine and I think you forget, disregard, or perhaps simply don't believe it is.
You now need to make an appointment at least 3 hours in advance. And they don't accept debit cards. Won't ever be coming back here again...
This is my second visit. I should have known better. Both times I bought several eights. Old stale seedy product. When asked about return policy well let's just say I'm still waiting on an answer. This place sucks period. Anyone who thinks this place rocks. Just try another dispensary and you'll see how much you've been begin ripped off.
as the other poster said. could use some more sativa. also, the pre-rolls all kept going out on me which was a pain. one thing I was suprised to see (and loved) was the fact they include boveda packets with all flower purchases .. even just 1g. every dispensary should follow that policy. great job. I didnt really find any of the strains particularly interesting but they were good.
I just visited Garden Remedies for the first time this week and I cannot recommend them highly enough! As a new med card holder and someone who has not really experimented much with marijuana, I had absolutely no idea where to start and came in with a laundry list of medical issues and just as many questions. Bridget, one of their staff, met with me for the better part of an hour to figure out what exactly was right for me for every situation I might need it for. It was such a positive experience, and everyone there was so welcoming and was genuinely happy to help a newbie out. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Purchased hard candy and plastic wrappers were stuck to candy and could not get off. Would accept return. I travel from the cape to go there once a month and it was past the 30 day return. Faulty is faulty and they should accept return no matter what. To me that says they don't stand by their products. This is a place I will not be returning
Excellent customer service, all the technicians are very knowledgeable. Great selections and they have awesome sales going on all the time..
I am sorry so many people have been disappointed with factors involved with service at GR. The problem is not so much with the Dispensary as with the City of Newton which has recently enacted some truly Draconian, and if I may say, stupid measures designed to keep the world safe from marauding pot heads. Anyone who actually enters this place would be touched, as I have been, with the degree of care they provide for Vets, people with horrible conditions, and a wide span of other folks with ailments treatable with cannabis. It is sad that in a progressive city like Newton a small, reactionary group has been able to impede the development of this company and the good they do for so many. Got problems with their procedures? Take it up with the mayor and City Council - they're the folks who still adhere to outmoded, unproven, falsehoods that are more like posters from the 1930s than reality.
Excellent quality products, good customer service. I like the apothecary feel of the dispensary and really I don't know what everybody is complaining about. Honestly after knowing the staff, and the process, I think some of the prior yelp reviews are actually made up or exaggerated. If you know anything about the cannabis industry (especially in Taxachusetts) there will be times when there may be shortages. Things are seasonal we live in New England even if the sh!! is grown indoors. There is room for error. Especially when you stick to your guns and grow pesticide free. Come on guys let's face it, The cannabis control commission is dirtier than the floor of a Walmart bathroom. To punish, fine or for some dumb reason "OMG A BUG!!"" They will force these companies to destroy entire crop. And how they do that is heartbreaking, they just put it in a gigantic grinder full of wet kitty litter and then it turns into a big concrete unsmokable mass. Now addressing all of you soccer moms with that well coiffed football helmet hair. It just screams can I talk to your manager?. I personally find the customer service department friendly and helpful. Also some advice, you should be kind to your budtender. 90% of them are legitimate patients too.
The weed quality was getting poor; dry, goes up like dust rather than weed. Prerolls too. Going elsewhere and the weed is fresh and moist. Great service there although i just saw a tip jar....annoying.
I've stayed away from GR lately due to the pretty bad yelp reviews but I decided to give them another chance. I ended up placing an online order for a Indica dominant THC cart and had my order cancelled due to the item being out of stock even though their online portal showed the item. Since the order was cancelled I asked one of the employees if they recommend something similar to what I had previously ordered. They ended up bringing up a "Relief Seven East Vapes' and mentioned that it was the closest thing to what I had ordered. After trying out the cartridge at home I was extremely underwhelmed and discovered that this was mainly a CBD vape which is not what I wanted at all. To be honest I feel a little mislead and feel like I just spent $60 on a product I didn't want.
Never Again would I waste my time and Money. And don't waste your time stopping in and trying to buy it is only online. I think is the only Dispensary that does this. On the Positive side there are plenty of other dispensaries to go buy from.
Wish I could leave 0 stars. Will be back to explain in depth but let's just say- Should have listened to the reviews!!I have been to easily 20 dispensaries, absolute Worst experience ever. Whoever owns this place, should be absolutely ashamed. I'm sad because I wanted to support "A woman Led business".Hoping to find her contact info and speak to her directly. Give her the opportunity to respond and see what she thinks of the "Experience" her Dispensary is providing Medical customers/customers in general. Do you not read the reviews?
Go to Ethos instead. This is hands down the worst dispensary I've been to across many states and it is not close. Their flower is completely dry and has very very low THC content and their edibles might as well be candy for how weak they are. On top of this all the staff are very cold and the shop itself is very intense and ugly inside. Just go to Ethos instead, you won't regret it and it's only 10 mins away.
I live close by this place, and was excited as they went through the city state etc approval process and finally opened for recreational use. Put up with their "compliance" rules and lines, after all I support stoners getting jobs, put up with prices 3-4x previous illegal prices, put up with a spotty supply chain, put up with them rebranding product with no regard for quality... wait, what? Yes, I am a long time flower enjoyer and they just haven't gotten it down because they repackage flower for the most part, at which point it is dried out, unenjoyable, and in my opinion garbage. So I started counting, and only one out of six times was the product acceptable. Why did I keep going back? Optimism and support for the industry and the woman brave enough to get into the business, and the nice people there. On the seventh visit I again explained my quality concerns and asked if I could get a refund if it was the same. I was told of course. So I pay, get the 1/4 ounce (in two repackages plastic container), open one, it just crumbles to dust under my pinky, I ask for a refund, which is where the fin began. But they don't give you a refund at the counter, or even the store. You get a card to call customer service, and shown the door. Your money at this point is 3 feet away from you and you are holding useless product. I was later told that this is a Covid adaptation. Really.I call the number, and am told the process is to fill out an email form, throw away the product, and then I am mailed a paper check in a week or two. Ok.... I complain a bit and say ok. They take my info. Nothing happens. So I contacted the founder via LinkedIn, she doesn't respond (maybe she does read Yelp, maybe the billboard on I-90 they put up recently tells us more about their go to market, maybe she's just busy). But her general manager did. And 10 days and a lot of emails later he arranges for me to get a refund. When I go to the store at his direction The manager asks me for the product... anyhow, I get my money back and I have to find a different place to shop for it in newtonville. There's a giant ascend store opening half a mile away, we shall see.Anyhow, keep in mind this is a regulated business there at our pleasure and taking up a valuable license in my town (one of right available). Ordinarily if you don't like your product or service its buyer beware, not here. They have an obligation to serve the community.Turns out regulation is a funny thing: nobody at city hall knows who takes complaints forthis. Nobody imagined there would be an issue, but if you read the reviews in their totality there clearly is, and we have the opportunity to revisit our choices of who we license to operate. Karen Munkacy , the founder, was really effective navigating city hall to establish this business, the folks who live here are just as competent doing so.There's really nothing to be done with this place as the regulation has granted them a monopoly and at this point it's clearly a money-grab. I encourage everybody who lives in Newton and is treated shabbily here and sold useless product o call RuthAnn Fuller (our mayor) and register your complaints, likely nothing else will get this organization to stop hiding behind regulatory excuses for operating in a predatory manner.
I used to like Garden remedies until I realized you could get their products in the form of big fat nugs with a higher quality at other establishments. Every time I go to garden remedies in Newton I get shitty small buds that are dried out and suck. The only deduction is the Garden Remedies treats their local customers like shit. Thanks for nothing
Got out of work late and rushed to get to my 5 PM reservation. Literally got here at 5 o'clock exactly and they shut the door right in my face. I saw them on my phone it was 5 o'clock and then I was paying cash and had a 5 o'clock reservation and they told me to step back and literally shut the door right in my face.!!!' I wish I knew who owed this place. I would love to write them and see if they know that their customers are being treated badly!!!! I went to ethos in Watertown after this and was treated with class and spend double the money !!!!!
Wonderful knowledgeable friendly staff. Until their knowledge base is VALUED by our society unfortunately their salaries will not reflect that. I was saddened recently to find that we are no longer able to show appreciation by way of small gratuity to show support / say thanks to staff. ITS tough enough on service workers. I appreciate/ applaud everyone who is working towards positive change in this world today. Thanks
Super convenient location with a designated parking lot and handicapped / medical spots reserved near the door. Their products are always great quality and the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. I use the order ahead online option which works great.
Everyone is super friendly in a real authentic way that makes the whole experience super quick and easy. Lots of product discounts for med patients and special bundle deals around fun holidays. The order ahead system is super straightforward and orders are filled in no time at all (almost always ahead of schedule) and you rarely spend more than a few minutes in the building because everything is set to go. I want to give a special shout-out to Adrianna, one of the advisors at this location for always going above and beyond for customers and her team!!
My experience here was fantastic. Low wait time, friendly staff, amazing selection. The staff member Paul who assisted me (a newbie) was informative, helpful and all around made the experience that much more pleasant. I would recommend this dispensary to anyone, veteran or newbie.
This place is great. Not only do they have an incredible selection (much better than even a year ago) but the employees are personable and engaging. Paul and Reid were awesome. They asked thoughtful questions about what type of experience I was looking for and made excellent suggestions. Thanks guys!
Not horrible. Good customer service, but the price and product is off. If you have a good dealer or are close to another shop I'd recommend that instead. I only use them due to walkability.
